Was signed up for a Wine Tour on a 4x4 by Renaissance club which happened yesterday! Parking is plentiful, nice and spacious, don't miss the first driveway like I did because then I had to do a u-turn to go back. The second driveway is the exit and has a gate. Our tour guide was amazing and fun to have driving us around making us laugh while giving us awesome history about the property. The property is just gorgeous and so well maintained. I would love to come again during sunset if they do tours at that time because I can only imagine how the sunsets look from those mountain tops! The weather has been strangely hot, so yesterday it was high 80s and so it's a good thing we had our sunblock with us to reapply as we went or we would have been burnt! The views are just spectacular looking over the mountains and seeing the vast land surrounding. It's so amazing and calming and the fresh air just makes you feel great! There were several stops along the way in this fun 4x4, which I admit it was a little hard getting in and out of the 4x4 because I'm so tall and I had to be bent down to avoid bumping/dragging my head on the roof, so I was walking sorta like in a squat position to get out LOL and my legs were already jelly from a workout the day before hahaha! At each stop we were able to do a different wine tasting, and then at our last stop we were treated to a chacuterie board and chocolates. This is where I tasted my favorite, the Saddle Ranch 2021 Malbec, just so smooth and perfect. The guide said it pairs very well with chocolate, but I didn't eat my chocolate at that time, and I actually loved the saltiness of the chacuterie board between each sip of wine. But I will have to get a bottle of the Malbec and try it with Chocolate at some point. There are still animals at the ranch, we saw Llamas and Mules and Donkeys. But if you remember in the old days there used to be Stan the Giraffe, he moved to Texas along with some other animals. I miss you Stanley!!! read more

You don't just drink wine, you get a view with animals and some fun other stops along the way. I attended a wedding reception at Saddlerock Ranch in late July. The ranch is so incredibly beautiful, and the reception space was perfect. I'm giving it 4 stars because I was stung twice by a wasp, and a friend was stung once on the arm, waiting in line for drinks. I was wearing a bright yellow maxi dress with large pink roses. A tarantula hawk wasp flew up my dress, got stuck, and stung me twice on my bottom before I could go behind a tree and get it out. (It's okay to laugh, I did). These wasps were everywhere. They hover near the ground. Also bees and yellow jackets were EVERYWHERE. They totally crashed the party and partied down, landing on all food, getting into drinks, etc. They made it impossible to eat or drink. I cowered under a white tablecloth and borrowed a friend's beige shawl to cover up my dress until nightfall. My boyfriend got me food from the buffet, as I refused to leave and risk getting stung more. The staff waited until it was dark to bring out the wedding cake and sweets. While I understand that it's a ranch and you are outside, this was ridiculous. I'm not advocating for wasp or bee genocide, but it was really bad. Some people complained of losing cell service. I didn't, as I was texting with a friend about my reception misadventures all night. (Verizon is my cell phone provider). read more

Came here for Malibu wines member party on a Sunday. They used to have parties at the old Malibu wines but it got burned down last year so they had to have the party here at the ranch. It's pretty much just lawns and limited tables and chairs throughout the entire place. We didn't know that we could bring chairs, tables and blankets to have some places to sit down and relax. Will do next year for sure! They had Stonefire grill catered lunch which was included in the tickets. The kale salad and pesto penne pasta were very delicious but BBQ meats were a bit bland according to hubby. The tickets were only $10 for members and $30 for non members. Unlimited wines, complimentary bottle waters, DJ spinning, a small dance floor for a couple hours of fun under the sun. Also a small vendor displays homemade clothes and fashion jewelry for sale. The weather was not bad, it was a very warm weekend but was cooling down on Sunday. They played a lot of Miley Cyrus songs so I was happy! The party was more enjoyable than I expected, everybody was so friendly and pleasant. The only issue was that members had to park at Malibu safari area and took shuttles to get to the garden party. We were at the wrong parking lot and had to ask for directions to get to the right parking, so it wasn't the most convenient for us. Other than that it was a great wine party and we enjoyed it very much. Anyways we will be better prepared for next year! read more

What a wonderful experience! The Malibu Wine Hike through Saddlerock's Vineyards was a surprise. It was a perfect day! Our hike was led by Paul, who filled us in on the history of the ranch, the vineyards, surrounding area, fires, and of course, their wine with both knowledge and humor. There was even a delightful Frose break in the gardens halfway through the hike! The Chumash cave and drawings were a highlight. Although there are no wild animals, this 2.5 mile hike through the Vineyards is highly recommended. There are amazing views every step of the hike. What a magical experience! I booked this for my girlfriend's birthday. There were approximately 60 individuals there to enjoy this intimate experience. Our evening started with champagne and appetizers. For a non-alcoholic option, there is a blackberry sage spritzer. I opted for a little of both to create a mimosa. Yum. The set up was stunning. From the flowers to the rustic tables down to the food. The appetizers were too pretty to eat, but I stuffed my face... don't worry. The onion dip made with fresh flowers was amazing! The pop of edible flowers was beautiful. After a nice spread of appetizers, we moved on to dinner. This is a 5-course meal! Come hungry! The deconstructed fried chicken to the short ribs were to die for. This was all cooked outside on an open fire. Pretty amazing experience. The grounds at Saddlerock Ranch are well kept & the scenery expansive with rocky peaks & buttes creating an ideal location for a cowboy western. However, views of grape vineyards, zebras, water buffaloes, etc. make for a more exotic scene. The cement roadways are great, but it is only wide enough for 11/2 cars so be prepared to yield to on coming traffic. Our Yelp mates including Cosmic Yelper Isobel L. were fun, informative, & engaging so that the evening rushed on w/ pleasant repartee. Started off wetting our whistle w/ Saddlerock Rose made of Sangiovese which is the same varietal used to make Chianti Classico at least in Toscano. Hints of strawberry, raspberry, bit burnt caramel, refreshingly acidic, it was a great summertime libation. Starters: 1) Slow cooked braised beef was slathered w/ Beurre Maître d'Hôtel/butter infused w/ herbs. 2) Pan amb Tomaquet: Open wood fire grilled rustic bread made pinkish being rubbed w/ tomato & herbs 3) Escabeche: mushrooms cooked in acidic fruit vinegar placed on grilled bread w/ toasted almonds Family style Large Plates: 4) Salad of chick peas, carrots, broccolini festooned w/ snow-like sheep milk feta. 5) Grilled zucchini, yellow squash, summer squash, soft pasty lentils, red bells, touch of dill leaf 6) Albacore fire grilled to medium rare, various sweet beets, kale-like salsa verde, sprinkling of sunflower seeds Main: 7) Smoked Garlic Porchetta looking like soft, moist slow cooked carnitas, braised kale & green onions with a hint of Aîoli (ah ee oh lee)/garlic mayonnaise. An oasis found only 30 minutes from Los Angeles, the views are so striking and picturesque. The zoo animals were a cherry on top of an already over the top venue. I was so excited when I saw zebras and llamas I nearly crashed the car. They held the Los Angeles Magazine Food and Wine event here and it was so ahhhmaaazzing! (drama) I'm sure they do a lot of weddings here as well. The scenery driving to the parking lot alone was already absolutely ridiculous. The venue was a dream, the wine was amazing, the food was insane, and I made off with a beautiful centerpiece with orchids, hydrangeas, and white roses for my mom. My cousins and I had booked the vineyard tour which included several picnic stops where we were able to sample wine and a charcuterie spread. In honesty didn't know what to expect, but it turned to to be so much fun! Our tour guide, Sebastian was amazing, professional and had a great sense of humor which made our trip entertaining. This is specifically about the wedding venue, not the wine tour. I recently attended a wedding at this venue. I will say first and foremost, that is very beautiful. It's picturesque, the layout is very nice. The Ubers and buses all got lost getting there, so the signage could definitely be better. But you should know going into any event here that there was zero cell reception at this venue. None. Not even one bar. Not just no data. Literally no service at all. There's no wifi either. While some people may be totally OK with that, I am not, for both family and professional reasons. When you're attending a 6-9 hour wedding for someone and are 100% unreachable, it is anxiety-provoking. We ended up leaving the wedding early because we reached our max on the amount of time we were willing to be unreachable by the outside world. In addition to a lack of comms, the wedding we went to had 350 people. There were only 2 working toilets in the reception area (1 for the men, 1 for the women). This basically meant that you'd wait for 30 minutes to use the bathroom. These are solvable problems. Saddlerock could invest in starlink and have 5g service throughout the entire reception area. They could have high end portable toilets for events. I just think any couple should know these limitations before booking their wedding here. read more

My brother-in-law got married here over the weekend (early September). I couldn't tell you the price, but once you see it, you'll know it isn't cheap. There are some mandatory fees that are included (shuttle, security), so beware of those. The location was beautiful, but the weather was borderline unbearable until the sun went down. The particular package he got involved a little house (Le Dome) on top of a hill which led down a cobblestone pathway to a flower-lined plateau. At the end is a gorgeous wooden structure. The drive we took through the grounds of Saddle Rock showed the compound is huge. It has a menagerie of animals on the ground like llamas, zebras, camels, yaks... but I have no idea what they are for. read more

This is a most magnificent place to meet and be with friends. The beauty of this farm and ranch is really beyond an explanation on a yelp review. We did spend a Saturday evening here with friends anticipating an evening of wine and dinner at their nascent restaurant. Do not expect much from the food or the service of the food. I recommend the owners hire a real restaurant management team and chef to run The food activities. We all had a most wonderful time in such a beautiful place to watch a beautiful sunset. You must go here, but at this writing not for the food. It seems they ran out of food. Everyone in line was scolded not to take too many appetizers. When the main course arrived it was a full plate loaded with vegetables and very little of the advertised pork. The presentations of the food was sloppy and inconsistent. The flavors we are overbearing with garlic and the consistency heavy with oil. Again, I believe the thought of this is experience is in the right place, but they need a professional assistance for the entire restaurant experience. read more

I came here for a wedding, but the location is not the one in the pictures on yelp, but literally on a hilltop in the middle of the vineyards (takes a precarious shuttle ride to get there). It was amazing and almost as if no one else in the world existed but for the wedding. The venue was secluded and private in a good way and everyone was more likely to drink, dance and have fun since the area was small and cozy and you couldn't leave without taking the shuttle or commune anywhere else. The ceremony was beautiful with the hilly vineyards in the backdrop. There's a rocky path down from the reception area to the ceremony area, which reminded me of the cobble roads in Europe (stilettos beware!). It got chilly at night, but the DIY/Martha Stewart/Type A bride prepared pashminas for everyone, which was perfect. The bartender was extremely professional under pressure (pouring Cuervo and Johnny Walker shots like crazy at last call) and poured ice lightly into cups during people's speeches. Be careful when driving your car from the winery, since there are cops just waiting to give you a DUI (i.e. don't be stupid like one unfortunate guest...). read more

Okay, the Gardens are insane. I want to get married there. But they are very expensive, but so exquisite. Lauren Young, their wonderful saleslady, walked us about twice. They have some great options for weddings, I personally love the Gardens, which were out of our price point. My fiancé loved the Dome, but for me, It was not enough lawn, but the view was incredible. They also have a funky area I can't describe, you need to see it! I highly recommend looking at all of their venues and talking with Lauren, she is super sweet and amenable. We came here for Los Angeles Magazine's 10th Annual Food Event. The tickets were bought in advance so they cost $105 compared to $133 after the presale. The venue itself was quite spectacular with the vineyard, beautiful grassy areas and hills, exotic animals, etc. A definite negative was the lack of signage for the event on Mulholland Highway. They had one long line of cars backed up trying to feed into the event. Once inside, you had to drive, park, and walk on the dirt roads filled with animal dung to get to the food tents. (Hopefully, you didn't drive your fancy new/clean car or wear your expensive/new shoes). Many popular restaurants were represented which definitely attracted me--Animal, Faith and Flower, Republique, Bestia, A.O.C, Knuckle and Claw, The Church Key, Pot, Night+Market, Salt and Straw, L&E Oyster Bar, Michael's, Jitlada, Terranea Resort, Sweetfin Poke, Little Sister, Saddle Peak Lodge, etc. Several wineries along with a Stella Artois Beer Cafe were also there. Infiniti was a major sponsor so the wine glasses had the namesake logo and some sporty Infiniti models were on display to admire. Chefs such as Eric Greenspan and David LeFevre gave cooking demomstrations. I saw Roy Choi at his Pot tent. I recognized a few other chefs helping to serve at their tents. The event was fun and enjoyable although you do have to plan ahead and pace yourself with regard to which lines to stand in and which items are worth eating/filling up on. It was difficult to juggle the wine glass and the small plates of food sometimes. They had some places to sit or stand and rest your wine glass while attempting to eat. After awhile, some dishes started to seem a little similar and I didn't want to eat any more because I just too full. Also, some tents started to run out of food early. Having gone to the similar Grand Avenue LA Food and Wine Festival in late August, I started to feel a little jaded. I think first-time attendees to such festivals definitely enjoy these events more due to the novelty. read more

I have been to Saddlerock twice. Once for a wine tasting deal they had on Groupon. 2 tastings, 2 wine glasses, and a bottle of wine for $25. It was bring your own food. The tasting bar was large. The outdoor patio was really nice and relaxing. Really busy on a Saturday. Came here recently for a wedding. Such a beautiful wedding venue. Completely outdoors. Ceremony and reception were held in the same area. Love the rustic decor and setup. Stanley the Giraffe hung out with us all night. He does get mad if you do not feed him though! My daughter had her wedding here last year, 2018, in September. It is a beautiful place. All of our guests loved the place, commented on the huge trees, the lights in the trees and the scenery surrounding the area. I heard the fire destroyed some of the area, I hope they will be able to recreate the area for others to enjoy. We were especially happy to hear Stanley (the Giraffe) is doing good. What a beautiful location hidden in the mountains of Malibu! We had the honor of attending one of our closest friends' wedding at this location and it was such a mesmerizing sight to see! We came the day before for the rehearsal and I was just amazed then as I was the day of the wedding. There is a wine safari tour that they offer at this location as well so there are plenty of different kinds of animals on the grounds such as giraffes (in the Giraffic Park!), zebras, and peacocks. The giraffe was so friendly to the visitors and stuck out its neck to greet us! The grounds is on a huge plot of land and it is extremely pretty every which way you turn. The environment itself was great especially for pictures. However, since it was a summer day, it was extremely hot in the afternoon and it got really cold at night. So I suggest bringing at least a light/warm jacket at night. I would definitely come back here if there was another wedding or even to do the safari wine tour! I think that would be amazing because all the people who were doing that looked like they were enjoying themselves. The only thing I would complain about is the one-way road inside the winery and the minimal parking! The one-way road is extremely hard to pass through because every time another car is trying to go the other way, someone has to go to the side of dirt and rocks! In addition, at the beginning of the entrance area, there is a HUGE dip where several people scraped the bottoms of their cars because it was just a sudden drop. I was the DJ at this location this past weekend. It's a really beautiful spot in the hills of Malibu. A little hard to find and a bit of a drive to get to. There wasn't much staff there, but they were all very polite and easy to work with. You have a view almost 360 degrees around. One concern was the uphill climb from the road to the site. Actually, my clients had hired a food truck to feed the guests. The truck couldn't make it past the first section. Luckily the neighbor had a raptor track that was able to pull the food truck all the way up. He literally saved the day. Parking is at the bottom and is not an easy walk. I had to do it twice. Luckily they got a shuttle service to drop and pick up the guests. As a DJ, also plan on bringing some extension cables because you probably need a 40 to 50' cable. read more

This unique and secluded winery in the mountains of malibu is fantastic. The giraffes and camels are so awesome. I love that giraffe. The wide open spaces really lets you breathe and get away. And unlike some wineries, it's not just about the wine. There's this door right smack in the middle of the fields and it freaking works! So many great photo opportunities for us. Saddlerock as a venue for weddings is now one of our favorites that we'll happily recommend to our clients on the regular. I love how modern and yet true to wine culture it is. I went wine hiking with my friends and had a blast. It is 2 miles and about 2 hours long depending on how many times you stop. So many beautiful views. We saw Stanley the giraffe and other animals. Our hike guider was Elena. She was great and very patient. She took our pictures. We stopped multiple times because we were so tire.. Elena was like no problem. She was awesome! She also provided us with detail history about the ranch during our tour. At the end of the tour you will get a small bottle of wine to go.This was a beautiful experience and all the staff were excellent. read more

We got married at the Ranch and it was spectacular. All our guests raved about the venue, which was beyond beautiful. It was definitely a dream wedding for us, and especially for my wife. The pros: 1) Three different wedding venues, depending on size of party and preference. We would have loved the Chateau setting, high atop a mountain peak, but it could only hold 100 guests. So we chose the Main House setting, which was not as majestic, but just as beautiful. 2) Each wedding venue is completely private with separate entrances, so that you feel like you have the whole place to yourself 3) The Ranch is unbelievable, set with picturesque hills, grapevines, horses, zebras, camels, etc. The animals were definitely a big hit. Also, there are so many areas to make for beautiful pictures. We got married in June, and at that time, the grass was green, the vines were green, and the trees were full. You have to see this place to believe it. Celebrities get married here! 4) You rent the space for 24 hrs, so you can party as long as you want. The downside is that you have to pay for security and valet, up until the last guests leave and until all the vendors are out. This was the limiting factor for us. The cons: 1) It is very, very, very pricey to have a wedding here. You are basically renting a blank slate. To rent the space alone was about 10K. On top of that, you have to hire your own caterer and your own supplier (for the tables, lights, etc). Plus, you have to pay for security and a valet service. A bit of headache coordinating everything yourself, but worth it in the end, because you can basically make it whatever you want it to be. 2) You are very isolated, and in a gated estate. Don't even think about getting a taxi to pick up guests. 3) The roads can be confusing, as this estate is Huge. It's not a straight path to get to the wedding area. Fortunately, there were plenty of signs to guide the way on the day of the wedding, but still it would hard for elderly people to drive, especially at night. 4) The office people can be very, very rude. Kim, the wedding site manager was nice and helpful, but the other people in that office are plain nasty. I was late for my own rehearsal, because some lady would not let me through the gate, even after pleading with her, and after telling her that I was the Groom and that the wedding party was already inside! I was so upset. I mean, come on, I paid 10 grand for this??? Other guests had a similar problem with the office staff. If you get lost, you are on your own. They will not help you. read more
