The ambiance is great but the service and food are the reason we have gone back twice when my boyfriend's mom is in town! We will definitely continue to go. The restaurant is located atop of the Morongo Casino closely located off the 10 fwy. Take the Morongo Trail exit to the Apache Trail roundabout take the 4th exit on to the roundabout to Seminole roundabout take the 1st exit off the roundabout go left on Canyon View Rd then another left on Tumbleweed Rd the valet parking is to the right. I made a reservation by phone and they said someone would call me to confirm, they did call and sent a confirmation text which was a plus since we were traveling over two hours to virote the casino. Once there the manager greeted us and showed us out table, service was top class, we ordered several plates, my husband and son shared a tomahawk steak with was recommended by the waitress. They brought the salad and honestly it was very plain looking but once we tried it it was delicious! It took about one hour for our order to be served and everything was fresh and tasty, the only thing that threw me off was that we received the bill and tip was not included, we left cash at the table and went to pay and once there we were charged an additional $135 dollars for gratuity!! We came here for our 50th wedding anniversary with my mom. Overall the food was close to 5 stars. The best being the bread, amazing oysters Rockefeller , rack of lamb, creamed spinach, and cheesecake. We would order these again. The steak was good but we prefer Ruth Chris with the sizzling butter plate. We would skip the lemon drop and twice cooked potato. The reason for the four stars is because of their ordering policy. Be prepared to order your entire meal the minute you sit down or you will not even get one slice of bread with your cocktails! This is the second restaurant where we have recently run into this annoying policy! Bar Ceil in Palm Springs told us the same thing! We were so agitated when we first sat down that it almost ruined our whole experience! Came here to eat before we saw a show at the casino. It was a nice meal, the decor is classy and the giant windows were lovely. We didn't have a reservation so they sat us at the bar. The tables were empty for a solid hour and I feel like they could have offered a table and requested we be done at a certain time, because honestly the dining room was E-M-P-T-Y for over an hour. The food here is very expensive. Eating a meal that costs that much money at a bar was not a thoroughly enjoyable experience, so make a reservation. Also, the portion on the scallops my friend got was pretty sad, four scallops for nearly $40 dollar. The markup was high for being a casino restaurant. The drinks were pricey and I had two and didn't even catch a buzz (I'm a light weight). So the drinks were pretty sad as well. I had the chicken dish which was very good, and they had a few gluten free options. The portion of the chicken was plenty and I gave some to my friend to supplement her tiny scallop dinner. The place was OK, not great, not bad. I think they take themselves a bit seriously and the bar needs to pour actual alcohol for a $20 cocktail, I don't want to pay $20 for juice which is what I got. The views and the ambiance of this roof top restaurant are incredible! We came here recently to celebrate a friend's graduation. I definitely would try something new next time I come back. Selection: While the menu had many mouth watering signatures, keep in mind that this is a steakhouse. We started off with Steak Tartare, which was fun to eat. I wish the quail egg wasn't hard boiled though, it needed the yolk to add some creaminess. We chose the Kansas City Strip Steak and added smothered mushrooms and onions to enhance it. I'm not sure if that was the best choice because I wasn't a huge fan of the flavors. Also I might go with a filet mignon instead because I really wanted a softer bite. We got lobster Mac as a side with truffle and honestly it was least favorite. It was not very creamy and really sweet almost like sweet potatoes. The broccoli had great flavor, I love anything with tossed in garlic. It was just a bit chewy. Finally, the Pan-seared Scottish Salmon was my absolute favorite. The enoki mushrooms were super tender and the sauce that was on the coconut ginger sauce that was on the soba noodles was absolutely delightful. The salmon was skin on, something I prefer because I love the skin and it really complimented the ginger sauce that was on it. This place is decent. I bought the tomahawk ribeye and my mom ordered the filet. My steak was cooked perfectly and was really good, but was expecting a tomahawk like the picture in the elevator and the steak I got was like a miniature version of that. They also need to make their lobster Mac with real macaroni noodles and thick cheesy sauce. My mom did not enjoy her steak.. she likes her steak moo'ing, she ordered rare and it came out medium rare and was a little dry. I tasted it. It was a little dry. The ambiance was great. I couldn't say the same with the food. We had the caesar salad, calamari and shimp appetizer and for the entree, scallops with cayliflower puree with black garlic and sauteed mushrooms. We also got the cioppino. Let me describe the experience... the caesar salad, although nice presented, was bland. The dressing did not have enough depth and seasoning. The calamari were a tad overcooked and not enough lemon was served in the dish. The scallops were all seared differently. 1 had a great crust, the other 2 were so so. I understood why they buried them in a ton of baby greens: to hide the poor execution. On top of that, they were too salty. We couldn't win. The cioppino, was very monotonous in flavor; boring to say the least. Sure it had crabs and all other nice seafood, but, all in all, salt was the dominant flavor. Like the sauce was made and was held for a long time to reduce and become very salty. No hint of wine and not enough acidity to break the relentless saltiness. Ended up eating just a few spoonful. Once seated, I noticed the giant windows on both sides of the restaurant so you can take in views from both sides. The waiter and his assistant were very prompt and professional. Started off the water and bread service. Not long after we were seated the piano player began playing with slowed down renditions of popular songs. I then ordered the surf and turf and my wife ordered the Chilean Sea Bass. The Filet Mignon was huge and soft as butter. One of the best filets I've had. The only thing I didn't care for was the wine reduction sauce and name served with the steak. They were both too sweet for my liking and the filet would have been better with a cognac sauce, butter and herb or chimichurri to pair with. My wife enjoyed her sea bass, but again the sauce was too sweet. When our food arrived many items were lukewarm warm. If it weren't for the sauces and lukewarm food they definitely would have received 5 stars. The service and ambience were so excellent. Everything is a la carte. OMG best way to end your birthday weekend! After two days of gambling it was nice to relax listen to a pianist and eat great food. We were brought out fresh bread white and brown with some sort of mix in there. I had sea bass and it was a good size portion, prepared very well and tasty. My husband had 11oz filet Oscar style. First night we all went to see Howie Mandel and we had a casita , so we had platers of Brent's deli brought down with us, since we all came at different times, but we all knew we loved deli, but planned a dinner for all the next day at Cielo! We were seated in the middle at a giant table that fit all, now this restaurant is on the top floor with some incredible views. We started with 3 seafood towers fresh,lobster, king, crab legs, oysters, jumbo shrimp. Very fresh what a snap on the on the shrimp! I had chilean Seabass as an entrée, amazing! Make time to visit Cielo! OMG, Cielo is on my top 5 favorite restaurants I have ever tried! 5 starsssss all the way!!! Obviously the ambiance is nice and you'll receive top notch service so I'm just going to get straight to the point and brag about the delicious food I devoured in the purest, guiltless manner. No shame in my foodie game ;) Appetizers... it's a must that your order oysters! These babies don't have that fishy, ocean taste - they are cleaned very well and they are fresh as they get. The steak tartare was so creamy and tasty, topped with a fresh quail egg. Wow! Deeelish! Main Courses... the ribeye is the love of my life! Cooked to a perfect temp and color the pinky center was just absolutely gorgeous. The buttery and tender texture was made to perfection. The added bone marrow paired this steak marriage with its succulent taste. The salmon above a risotto was daringly good. The scallops were also fresh and presentation was everything. I will continue to dream and reminisce about my foodie experience at Cielo. The pricing per items was priced right.
