What a difference a day makes! Yesterday's dinner was a huge disappointment, but tonight's was a pleasant surprise. This restaurant was recommended by the place we are to dine tomorrow night, NOS. Boy, were they on target!
We sat at the "social table", which we assume means small parties can be seated together. As we were one of the early diners, we ended up seated by ourselves.
Our host and waiter went above and beyond to make our evening special. We were served complimentary glasses of Prosecco.
That was then served along with the house focaccia, which was topped with a small cooked tomato and some indescribably delicious light spread. We had several other pieces of it brought to us throughout the meal.
We had the oysters and the octopus as starters. I'll have difficulty being precise in my descriptions, as the place was not even located on Yelp and I had to add it.
While it has a 4.9/5 Google rating on 102 reviews, it seems to possibly suffer by having a few name derivations and no website. As I write this I do not have a menu to which to refer either.
We had tastes of multiple wines, finally choosing one that was local. It was a delicious red, apparently rated 98 by some rating service. My wife's main was the shrimp baked in salt and I had a paccheri with light cheese sauce with shrimp. Both were incredible.
The meal ended with a crème brûlée that came to the table en flambé. The host added his choice of a complimentary aperitif. The service was top shelf and as gracious and welcoming as any place we've ever been.
We lucked out with this recommendation. It was not that far from the town center, so also very convenient. read more
