What a fabulous place! The outside is widely admired and photographed but did you know you can go inside? And it's free?!?
If there is a line outside, do not be intimidated. It takes a moment for everyone to get through the security screening to enter the building. The line moves very quickly. Once inside, there's helpful staff at the kiosk, or you can wander around on your own.
On the second floor, you can find a detailed history of the building in both English and Spanish. There are photographs that chronicle how the building has been used over the years, which is fascinating. There are rotating art installations on various floors.
We had a great time wandering from floor to floor and admiring all of the art. There is also an outdoor area where you can get views over the city of Madrid, but it has been closed the last two times I have visited.
There are clean restrooms available and a seating area if you just need a minute to relax from the hustle and bustle of Gran Via. They also have free Wi-Fi available. read more
