    Scotiabank - Branch

    Scotiabank

I needed a Scotiabank to make a deposit at an ABM. I had just finished shopping at Dollarama. When…read moreI got to my car, I looked across the plaza and spotted this Scotiabank branch. I was elated. It was snowing sideways. There were a handful of cars parked off to the side by this bank and more. I followed suit by putting my car's blinkers on parked off to the side. I then headed inside this branch. This bank does not have a drive-thru. Teller services were closed. However, its two ABMs were available after hours. There was a mother-daughter combo who took turns staring at me when I walked in and got to the ABM. I didn't get it. I didn't exactly care what they were doing, so why care about my entering this branch? I had a deposit to make. It was easy inserting my Tangerine card (any Scotiabank ABM works for Tangerine customers), entering my PIN, inserting my deposit, and getting my bank card. The area around the ABM was clean. It did not have a garbage bin around. Most Scotiabank branches do. I left. The staring problems duo was still at it at their ABM. Perhaps if they had stopped staring at me, they would have completed their transaction before I did. My thinking is that they didn't know what they were doing. It was oddly satisfying staring at them for a change when I left to get on with my day. Karma is fun. This branch satisfied my banking needs. I'd drop by again, hoping that I don't have to deal with customers with staring problems. (19)

RBC Royal Bank - Drive safely

Side note: Since Yelp has removed tips from each business listing, which boggles my mind, as I have…read morefound them to be extremely helpful, I will start adding a tip to the start of my reviews. I'll then continue with my usual review afterwards. Tip: This RBC now has a drive-thru since it has moved as a standalone branch next door to No Frills. I frequent this plaza with a No Frills and a McDonald's often whenever I'm in Richmond Hill. It's across the street from CF Hillcrest Mall. The original RBC branch used to be between Kaiyo Sushi and Dollarama. It recently moved to a standalone building next door to No Frills, closest to Yonge Street. I felt like checking it out after having a late lunch at McDonald's. Specifically, I wanted to use the drive-thru ATM. There are parking spots in front of the branch. I cycled around the building. I had to wait for a bit for the woman ahead of me to complete her transaction. She had her door open and had partially stepped out of her vehicle to use the input keys. I find that the pillars in front of the ATM make it difficult to reach the keys, grab your money if you are doing a withdrawal, and more. I have a long left arm. However, sometimes I feel like it's a major stretch for me! Mr Tickle from the Mr Men book series wouldn't have any issues using his long arms at the drive-thru ATM. Sadly, we aren't gifted with his long arms. The ATM is great. I was able to withdraw cash. It'll ask you what denominations you'd like, which is a nice touch. The majority of the newer ATMs accept depositing US bills. It'll first treat the value as if it were Canadian. Within a business day, the exchange rate will be applied. It's also a nice feature. I liked my visit here. I didn't head inside the branch, but there are ATMs available. This branch closes at 4 pm on Saturdays. I saw staffers walking around when I was leaving the area just before the branch was about to close. (111)

Had an appointment this morning with Yuxi Wu.She was so rude! I wanted to take some money out of my…read moreRRSP's, she asked me for my ID, which made me feel uncomfortable, cause it's my account, makes me feel like they trust you. She looked at my account, very judgy! Firstly she asked why I was taking it out, which really is not her business, I just personal reasons. Then she said she couldn't do it! I said why, she said my account and what I'm saying don't match, and they have policies to follow, she can't break policies due my situation. She called my case a situation, she was so rude, made me feel so uncomfortable. Then she goes I would have down grade to Gic, and not a Mutual fund, because I am no longer a high risk investor. Which she insulted me, I didn't like it! Then she goes to check her manager to see if she can do what I asked, which also made me feel uncomfortable, she made me sit and wait uncomfortably. She finally comes back and says her manager says she can't do. Clearly she has no clue how to advise clients. She then tells me this is a new job, she didn't want her job to get jeopardized, which is ridiculous! She tells me she cares about her clients, which is a lie, she just cares about her job, and she didn't want to get into trouble. Oh it gets better.... she then gives me a phone number to call, maybe they could me, because she can't. Why did I make an appointment if I could just call customer service! Then she becomes an actress, and apologizes for not being able to do the transaction. She was so ridiculously, so damn rude, and lying through her teeth! So many Royal Bank branches don't go to this one. The manager there is also very rude and both women are very unprofessional. The ATM machine area is so messy, receipts all over the floor and table, and both times I've been there, nobody is ever at the front desk. I went to the tellers to make an appointment. The Financial advisor at CIBC are way better, so knowledgeable, and really have never made me so comfortable as this women did. Her name is Yusi Wong, worst Financial advisor ever. I do not recommend her at all! Thank you!

We joined the very long queue to get this sorted out. The line was practically out the door at this point and moving extremely slowly. I didn't keep track of how long we waited, but with only three tellers working and one in training, it was a long and boring wait. The fact that the bank was closed the previous day could've added to how many people needed to see a teller. When we asked about why we were given only $5 bills when $20 bills were requested, we were told the machine must've run out of $20 bills. If that's the case, the machine should be able to register this and not have this option available.

The front desk staff and greeters are very friendly, courteous and professional - while waiting in line; I overheard their interactions with customers, both in person and over the phone. What impressed me the most was after my transaction, I asked the client service representative if I could speak to the branch manager. She did not hesitate or even ask why! A few minutes later, I met with Rose Figliuzzi. I explained that I have been with TD bank for many years, and I was very impressed with the staff. Rose took the time to speak with me, and appreciated my comments. I always enjoy visiting this branch.
