As a family living in Hawaii, finding quality reading intervention for our son felt nearly…read moreimpossible. He was diagnosed with dyslexia in 4th grade, and as his mom, I felt completely helpless because Hawaii simply doesn't have the specialized resources for intensive reading remediation that children with dyslexia need. We were referred to Merrill Educational Center by our neuropsychologist at Golden State Neuropsychology, and it was one of the best recommendations we've ever received. Even though we live out of state, Nicole and Lynne worked with us over Zoom, making it possible for our son to receive the instruction he desperately needed. They used the Lindamood-Bell Seeing Stars® program along with Direct Reading Therapy, and the progress has been incredible. Not only has our son's reading improved tremendously, but so has his confidence. Nicole and Lynne are knowledgeable, patient, encouraging, and truly invested in the success of the children they work with. They took the time to understand our son's individual needs and supported our family every step of the way. If you have a child struggling with dyslexia or reading challenges, I cannot recommend Merrill Educational Center highly enough. We are incredibly grateful for everything they've done for our son, and he continues to thrive because of their guidance, expertise, and unwavering support.

Nicole is not only an incredible teacher (she made very difficult concepts easy for our son to understand), she is so calm, patient and willing to go the extra mile to optimize our son's learning and comfort with the course material. Our son went from being very intimidated by a challenging course (to the point that he almost dropped the class) to being very confident with grasping the information and taking exams. His grade improved significantly under Nicole's guidance and we are forever grateful. We have had other tutors for him and we can honestly say that she is simply the best! She truly cares and is totally invested in helping her students reach success.

After just one meeting with Jason, we were convinced that he was the right person to assist us in this process. Jason's ability to articulate his procedure was beyond impressive. But, it was not only his ability to convey ideas that impressed us. Rather, Jason got things done. He showed us results, and those results were beyond satisfactory. Most importantly, my husband and I loved Jason's confidence in our son and his unflinching motivation that surely helped my son get into some dream colleges. If you're a parent who feels overwhelmed or clueless regarding the college application and financial aid processes, then just sit down with Jason for an hour. I promise you that once you do, you will be as convinced as we were and you will not be disappointed. Thank you, Jason, for helping our son get in to a great college.

We paid a lot to him. It would have paid for an entire semester of a university. The FAFSA is self explanatory. You and your student can completely fill it out without his help. He actually has his youth receptionist do it for him. His business needs to reported immediately. We read the reviews, but felt desperate and got "pulled in". He keeps charging a monthly fee even when your student has enrolled in college. I will repeat! "DO NOT use this business or any business that this owner puts his name on".

I've taken several CPR classes over the years, and SureFire CPR is the worst. There's no way this…read moreis 5 stars on google unless those are purchased reviews. Zero stars should be a rating value. Surefire CPR has a 3 rating on Yelp. The in person portion of the course is overly draining and the equipment does not function reliably. The mannequin failed to register accurate chest placement even when technique was correct--I even put my full weight into compressions to confirm it was working, and it still did not respond properly. Why waste your time with a failing in person program like SureFire CPR's? If you have 5 hours of your life to giveaway and you want to incur bodily injury to complete the amount of compressions this company requires - then choose Surefire CPR. I was not informed at any point beforehand that I would be videotaped during that process so I do not approve use of any videos and you should know that that is happening bc maybe it's buried in the disclosures we sign off on. Either way decide if you consent to being recorded bc SureFire CPR only lmk they were recording me when I called for assistance during the in person. That is SHADY AF. Surefire CPR states that support is available if you call for help during the in person - however when the human voice does come through, it's a muffled voice that is difficult to understand and overall not useful in real time. If you want to waste your time and leave aggravated and with hand injuries, CHOOSE SUREFIRE. No professional should be subjected to this experience for certification. I expect a refund for the time and money lost. Lastly - data affirms that most people do not want to perform CPR to begin with, and this Surefire CPR class reinforces that--the physical strain is extreme and actively discourages a healthcare professional from wanting to perform CPR. It's hard to understand how the American Heart Association endorses this company. HARD PASS.

While after-school programs are intended to provide a balance of academic support and recreation, my experience here has felt significantly more like a "boot camp" than a community club. As a high-achieving student with a strong academic record, I find the level of surveillance regarding personal grades and the enforcement of "contracts" on minors to be overreaching and unnecessary. There is a fundamental lack of personal freedom; the environment is strictly controlled, and the prohibition of personal devices--which many students use responsibly--feels outdated and restrictive compared to the trust we are given at home and in other academic settings. The atmosphere is unfortunately not one of "fun" or mentorship. The staff members are often overly strict and have, on several occasions, resorted to yelling at students for minor or non-existent infractions. Rather than fostering a welcoming "home away from home" environment, the club feels rigid and stressful. For students who are already self-motivated and disciplined, this program feels more like a hindrance to our personal time than a benefit. I hope the administration considers shifting toward a model that respects student maturity and prioritizes a positive, balanced atmosphere over excessive restriction.
