I recently enrolled at Conejo Valley adult education for a certificate program for office manager in order to get back up to speed in order to support myself after my divorce is final. It is a scary time... but fortunately for me, Chris Wilson has been my teacher for the first two classes in my certificate program. He is so thorough and makes sure every student knows what they are doing. I suddenly feel empowered. Because I am not just going through the motions. I am re-learning what I knew so long ago after many years. The class projects that he gives us proves to me that I actually know what he's teaching. I did not think I would be able to get back what I have lost. It is apparent that Mr. Wilson loves his job and he truly is rooting for his students and is willing to help them however he can. I recently had an early meeting with my attorney during class hours which I could not change. So I ended up being over an hour late for class. He was so accommodating and came to me during class break and caught me up on everything that the rest of the class had gone over that morning. Mr. Wilson has been my instructor for the first two classes for my certificate program. I can only hope that as I move forward, any other instructor that I encounter at the Conejo Valley adult school will be as knowledgeable, enthusiastic and patient as he has been with the entire class.

The Principal Mr. Carter, doesn't just sit behind a desk. He visits the classrooms and makes his presence known by walking the grounds picking up what little trash there is. All the students have a deep despiece for him and vice versa. He greets the students in the morning and welcomes them with a morning announcement that ends with a daily joke. Thank you for letting me see how wonderful your school is and thank you for putting the students first and making their learning a fun and respectful environment.

For example, for a unit on insects the teachers brought in real insects! The students learn so much about science through experiments. The PTA is very supportive and have the best interest of the children in mind. Each grade level does a play and the teachers work tiredlessly to bring out the best of each child's performance. I gotta give credit to Bastian! He's fantastic, welcoming & connects with these students. Prior to choosing Mathnasium I looked into Kumon as well and had my kids assessed there too. I can say that while Kumon was cheaper, the assessment of my kids was majorly underwhelming. I was told how extremely behind they were, which I knew was not true. It made my kids feel bad. Kumon also required pages and pages of homework. My kids felt the place was creepy. Not for us! Mathnasium sold me on the approach of targeting areas and working on a well rounded picture, while allowing a little time at the end for kids to show their current homework & make sure they're on the right track! I love receiving emails when my kids have completed mastery checks on skills & when they level up! My kids also love getting "stars" and completing "cards" to receive rewards, from chapstick to Disney tickets (depending on how much they save up for). The fun environment is great! It's still quiet & kids are focused. There is strategy building and game play too. It is worth the money if you can afford it! I wish I had this when I was a kid!

On multiple occasions when around other parents of children they are always impressed how ahead CCS kids are. The school has a preschool and makes the transition to Kindergarten SO much easier which helps children start learning sooner since they don't have as long to get over being in a new environment. Since before school and after school care is onsite it makes it much more comfortable to kids to stay after school if parents need the extra care. During COVID this school was one of the very few that kept kids engaged and didn't let them fall behind. I saw so many other schools have kids that are a year or two back because of COVID, but CCS did an amazing job to continue education and keep things as normal as possible. The principal has introduced so many sports and clubs with the help of staff. The community of parents and teachers has been what I had always hoped to have. I HIGHLY recommend this school.

Our family has been at Carden Conejo for the last 5 years with our two kids having attended grades…read morepreschool through 4th grade so far. It is academically rigorous in all subjects, being one of the best in our area. Our specialists are also excellent: our kids have been able to do PE almost daily, the specialist classes (art, science, music, French, computers) all at least once or twice a week. Starting in kindergarten, the kids move with their classmates from their homeroom to the different dedicated specialist classes multiple times a day, which I think is a very mature thing to be able to do in kindergarten. They do public speaking at their weekly school assemblies multiple times a month, which I think is very special about this school. Best of all, they emphasize manners and morals which encourage human virtues, but also things like looking an adult in the eyes when saying good morning or when being spoken to, and holding the door open for an adult so that he/she can pass through first. Things that I feel our kids in the recent digital world do not really learn anymore, but will help them be successful in their workplaces (and families) in the future. Compared to other private schools in the area, tuition is more affordable, and yet the teachers offer academic support after school for kids to need it for free (although I think they should be paid extra for it). Although academically rigorous, our kids also have so much fun at school. Holidays are so fun. They have a huge fall festival at Halloween with carnival games, food trucks, trunk or treat. They also have a big festive winter holiday show, egg hunts for Easter, class parties, and a big family picnic on campus at the end of the year. They have tons of after school enrichment classes and Funtastic Friday nights where the kids can come and play in the evenings while parents get a night out. Summer camps are also very thoughtful and engaging. A favorite week is themed after the book Roxaboxen where they create their own shops and barter goods with "gems" as currency. We have loved every teacher we have had through the years. Everyone knows your child's name and each teacher invests in their students. One of my children had a little embarrassing accident at school and her 1st grade teacher handled it with such respect and tact - she treated her like she would want her own daughter treated. I think it would be hard to find a school with teachers and staff who are this invested in their students.

I love that students practice public speaking every Friday, learn cursive, and participate in community service. The school does a wonderful job of honoring time-tested traditions while also embracing science and technology. We couldn't be happier with our decision to send our children to Carden and look forward to sending them to the middle school.

As a parent of a gifted child with adhd , I'm deeply disappointed by our experience at this school…read more My son is incredibly bright--reading, writing, and doing multiplication well ahead of grade level before start kindergarten. . I volunteered twice in one week and worked full-time to support his classroom success, even ensuring he had a dedicated 1:1 aide. Despite all of this, the school repeatedly disrupted his support system, constantly changing his 1:1 aide, pushing for excessive transitions, and trying to move him to a separate special education room--which was completely unnecessary and harmful to his progress. When I advocated for him and began picking him up twice a week to protect his mental health, the school retaliated by calling CPS--accusing me of causing anxiety, when in reality, they were the source of it. was anxious, frustrated, and overstimulated by the environment, not his home. Anyone who knows him can see how advanced, thoughtful, and emotionally aware he is when treated with respect and proper support. No family should be punished for protecting their child. What happened to us is a warning: if your child is adhd but gifted, and you expect meaningful inclusion and respect, be cautious. This school failed to provide a safe, consistent, and supportive environment--and then tried to shift the blame onto me as a parent. We have since withdrawn and are now seeking a school that sees our son's potential, not just his diagnosis.
