Like Cheddar's, Chuy's is hit and miss. The last time we went, the hostess told us we'd be in for a 20-30min wait for a table. 1.5 hours later, we were finally seated. The service is decent, the waiters friendly. Prices are OK, but the beer selection is pretty poor. The food is not exactly world-defying, but it isn't bad. Being from CA, the food was a HUGE letdown; not sure what I was supposed to expect. Love the creamy Jalapeno sauce, the chips and salsa car (as a former waitron, I'm not to proud to pop over and refill my own chips and salsa) which is also a nacho car during happy hour, and the service is always great. As a voracious consumer of salsa, i simply like the option of being able to get more myself. As mentioned above, Chuy's gives you a free appetizer if you bring in a framed photo of your pooch. So as you can imagine, there are pictures of dogs everywhere. Genius. The whole restaurant from the decor to the silverware packages to the menu has really creative flair - they did not just go to a warehouse and buy mexican tchotchkes by the pound and slap them around the restaurant. There is a lot of great Tex Mex in Tulsa, but Chuy's is up there - and I'm not alone in my opinion. Go early, or be prepared to wait, especially on weekends. read more

Made sure to make our lunch meeting appointment at the restaurant and enjoyed the same great food I get when I'm in Houston or Austin. Great food, you can't go wrong with this place. I am a HUGE fan if Chuy's salsa. I will literally come just for it! And a bowl of queso. I have not ever been impressed by any of the dishes. Not the Lays crusted chicken, flautas--which are incredibly dry--tacos, enchiladas, fajitas. None of it has been up to par with my expectations. I normally get a bowl of the tortilla soup--even though 9 out of 10 times I find it bland and verging on flavorless. And just gorge myself on the salsa. It's literally the best thing there. I crave it like crazy. Atmosphere is fun and casual, but was a bit confusing my first few times there. I normally eat out on the patio, though the service becomes lacking when I do. One of the reasons I look forward to going to this restaurant despite this being a chain is their Salsas. They have a few different kinds to choose from, but the house Salsa is super fresh and spicy, just the way I like it. They make all of the Tortilla at the restaurant and the food is fresh and tastes good. The place was packed for dinner, but I only had to wait 10 minutes to get a table. I used to live in Austin where the original Chuy's is located and have eaten there several times before visiting the one in Tulsa many times, and I've got to say, I'm thoroughly disappointed with the Tulsa location. I've been in Tulsa for 5 1/2 years now and have witnessed the decline of this restaurant during that time. Prices have gone up, quality has gone down, and they are not accommodating to special dietary needs at all. I can easily go down the street for better selection, better prices, and more authentic Mexican food. Sure, the salsa and creamy jalapeño are delicious, and sometimes I'll stop in and sit at the bar just for that but not worth eating a meal here. This place has become just another fad chain restaurant people go to just because it's well known. Covid has had a huge impact on the place I'm sure, but still.... not a valid excuse in my opinion. read more

Had a great server, the drinks and appetizers were good, but all three of our orders were pitiful. Overcooked, dry, tasteless...dont know what happened but this $63.00 dollar tab was certainly not worth it. And my wife pulled a long hair out of the queso. Tonight we had the pleasure of eating at Chuy's on my last night in town. Our server Wendy was great. The service was quick and we had a really great time. The Sunday night pork tacos were suggested to us, as they are only served on Sunday nights, but they weren't our favorite. They seemed dry and too spicy. Had a great experience here! I ordered online and put "Gluten Free" in the special instructions. When I arrived to pick up my order I was informed that the regular queso was not gluten free. At other restaurants a lot of times the staff is not knowledgeable about this, so I'm often weary of eating out because it makes me sick. They made my order and went though the other gluten free options for sauces and recommended the Boom Boom sauce. The manager was very helpful and friendly. The queso was awesome! It has a "kick" so don't expect the same ole boring cheese dip. I prefer thicker chips but theirs were good anyway. The hot sauce isn't exactly"sauce" but more of a diced chunky salsa. The chile relieno was the best we have had in a long time. We got the shrimp with queso on top. It's crunchy coating on the outside was a treat. I had the grand-pa's margarita and he had a swirl frozen one. They were both good, not too strong. First time eating at Chuy's. We came for Friday happy hour and the place was rockin'. The Nacho Car was unique and not your typical Tex-Mex place. The decor was also quite colorful. Yesterday, September 6th, we ordered two diet cokes and one beer, we got one beer and one Diet Coke, then asked for salt and got a shaker full of wet salt, I ordered the Taco da Carbon with chicken(this two fajitas already put together), my husband ordered a platter with several different things and instead of beans and rice he got French fries and requested different sauces. I got my plate and took the first bite and thought my chicken was very tough, the second bite same thing, then pulled a piece out and it was steak which big problem because I am highly allergic to beef(I have Alpha Gal Syndrome and itched like crazy all night), my husband didn't get fries instead he got beans and rice and the sauces were not what he asked for. All we got from the manager was I am sorry. We will never go back to 71st street chuys. read more

All in all ok, but... The past 2 times we have gone have been very disappointing. Most recently we ate there and biting into my chicken fajita I felt something solid jab my cheek. I quickly expelled the contents into a napkin and found a jagged piece of hard plastic. Our waitress came by and we explained what we found, she took the throwing star looking piece of plastic to the manager and they remade my food. Later the manager returned asked a few questions and we came to the conclusion it was part of a lid. He felt satisfied knowing what it was and asked if I was ok I said yeah "OK" and that was that. This was the second time in two trips we had issues with something foreign in our meal. This past occurrence might be our last to allow blatant disregard for food prep to ruin our meal. read more

This place is amazing. Had vegetable enchiladas( the best I've had ) the best refried beans of any Mexican place i have tried. My husband had a chilli rellano and a chicken enchilada that the server suggested. Was superb. Ask for Michael he really knows what to suggest.
