A month ago we attempted to have dinner at the Chuy's on Memorial in OKC but walked out after the greeters/seaters were too busy laughing and visiting with one another to seat us. They were obnoxiously loud and rude. On our prior visit the reception personnel was okay but not very professional and it appeared as though no one was in charge and there had been no training. We had no problem with servers and the food. We decided to give it another try yesterday. What a turnaround! Everyone we encountered was extremely nice and very professional. The food was great. I am always down for some Chuy's. I brought my friends here and they enjoyed the meal too. I originally ordered the strawberry/lime frozen margarita which I found in the Orlando Chuy's. Yes I know its done everywhere but normally I'm driving so I can't imbibe much. Our waitress suggested the raspberry/pina colada margarita. Hands down the favorite go-to from now on. I always get the #6 which is a range of different items but I always get chicken for my enchilada. This case the cheese was accidentally sent and the waitress went and got me the one I wanted originally. Did you know if you wear your Chuy's shirt in you get $2 off your next shirt? News flash for me. Oh and if you buy 2 shirts you get a free queso for your table? Yeah I'm down for all of that. :) Lessons learned will do that for next time. Decent tex-mex food. First the bad. Outdoor area dirty, the tables not wiped down or porch swept. Waiter wrote down our order but then didn't remember it. The good part is even though the outdoor area could have been cleaned it was a nice outdoor space. You see I35 but it is outside. Simple text-mex choices but quality of the food is a winner. We had custom beef enchiladas and beef fajitas. Along with the queso, guacamole, a beer and diet Dr pepper our tab was $60. On a busy Thursday night (it's usually busy here), this hungry gal opted to belly up to the bar. First thing I ordered was a wet towel to clean the still-sticky counter. Thankfully warm thin crispy tortilla chips and salsa (more like pico de gallo, bonus points) appeared fast. But no napkin. This girl definitely needs a napkin before any attempt to eat so I struggled to get the bartenders attention. By now I already know the bartender is a bit ditsy, overwhelmed, or both so I take a deep breath, determined to ignore the chaos on the other side of the bar. Chuy's margaritas come in two sizes, and for a little more $ I recommend you go for the 18oz. I drink my 'ritas on the rocks and prefer silver tequila so, for me, an upgrade to Patron Silver is worth the extra $, that noted, they make a good margarita. In general, the daily specials are delicious and a good value, therefore I went with the Thursday special; green chili street tacos for $9.99. Three homemade soft corn tortillas filled with pieces of seasoned beef steak, roasted green chilies, tomatoes and cilantro served with green chili rice. Flavorful. Delicious. With a kick! As other reviews mention, why are they always soooo slow with cutlery?!?! Humming from the frozen margarita machines is very annoying so next time I'll sit along the bar's far wall or in the nicely decorated dining area. Bella, our waitress was great. It was her second week on the job, but clearly she picks up the job fast. She was attentive and kind. She also was knowledgeable on the menu. The cheese on my taco salad was freshly grated. We sat in the back room which was nice and home like. It was not too loud. We loved the queso! The menu is fairly large. Welp. I've finally mosied on over to Chuy's after getting tired of people telling me about it, especially Tex-Mex fans. Glad I chose to sit outside because it was a beautiful night. Fans weren't loud, cute outdoor lights hanging up and I felt like I could be eating in my own backyard oasis. Menu is of nice size along with the drink menu, but I'm sooooo glad I chose the Chuychanga with the Ranchero sauce. My mouth is still happy after the first bite. It was cooked very well and then the sauce complimented it nicely. I could've done without the rice or refried beans because they just didn't hold up. That dish was worth the $8. I may need to visit again to try their drinks and other dishes because I saw some other promising items. I recommend the Chuychanga with Ranchero sauce along with tasting their table salsa (I want that recipe). read more

One of my go to Mexican food places. Super friendly staff and just a fun welcoming vibe. The food I've gotten has always been out fast, it's fresh and never disappoints. Their chicken fajitas are so yummy and filling! Fish tacos, wonderful with a plenty of fish. They're flavorful and I always ask for extra avocado. I'm slightly obsessed with their salsa. It's almost like pico. I add jalapeños to it. I've been off tequila recently. (That's another story) so I order my margaritas with vodka instead. They make an amazing perfect margarita. The decor is festive and I own one of their cute shirts that they sell. I love the bar area with all the cute pictures of dogs in sombreros. Unfortunately we were handed a pretty careless waitress tonight who seemed to forget a lot of things. However, the manager was kind enough to help get the things we needed and had waited over 20 minutes for. When my husband worked out of town, sometimes after I picked him up from the airport we would stop at Chuy's and eat and it was always good. He doesn't work out of town anymore and we're rarely in Norman. We were going through Norman today and stopped to eat at Chuy's and it was excellent. And, as always, we received excellent service. (3/4/2020) Came for a late dinner after flying in to OKC and driving to Norman. Server was young, chipper, a little like a mini stoner dude, sometimes talked too fast, but was accommodating and very friendly. Chuy's is pretty well consistent across the states, so, you know what you're getting. Generally well-seasoned and on the salty side. Gratis pico de gallo on the table was surprisingly spicy, but we enjoyed it. Had the Comida Deluxe, just because I always like a variety platter, crispy flautas, saucy cheese enchiladas, and a crispy beef taco. Got the Boom Boom Sauce, we do love the ten signature sauces available for you to mix and match and choose at will. The Boom Boom is New Mexican green chile and creamy. I thought it went well over everything I had. Decent choice of chain restaurant if you find yourself in box store country and need something with some zip. read more

Chuy's is one of my favorite places to eat ever since I first visited in Austin about 7 years ago! Imagine my excitement when I found out Chuy's was coming to Norman, Oklahoma. Although Norman is almost one hour from my home in Edmond, I do make the drive to enjoy it once a while and it's always a delightful treat! I love everything here, but here is what I always order. Green chile queso (queso is not a complimentary item here), jalapeño ranch dip, and Elvis Chicken from the house special menu section. In addition, I love their complimentary salsa. I think it's zesty with a little kick to it. I love its uniqueness that it's chunky and not blender made like most Tex-mex. Chuy's has an option to sit outside which is lovely on a nice day. The service has always been decent and they make sure to keep our glasses full and chips overflowing. I recommend Chuy's to all Tex-mex lovers out there. read more

Greeter at front door was extremely rude. She had a "I'm in control and you don't count" attitude. Intense look on her face that never softened as she threw her weight around during our seating. I have a need to sit at a table rather than the booth she insisted I use. When I voiced my "need" she just exploded, making more ugly facial expressions, accompanied by rude body language while exclaiming "SIT WHERE YOU WANT!" When waiting to be seated, another patron informed me their favorite manager had gone to Edmond and we'd see if things were as good as when he was there. I soon had my answer as the new manager, Cory was unsympathetic to his ridiculous "host." I guess I was penalized for informing the manager of the situation, for when my food was delivered, everything was COLD. Platter, meat, taco shells that had been burned and I had to imagine it was on purpose. My guest who had arrived after the "dust-up" received her entree hot and acceptable. By the way, there was lots of seating available when I arrived. To the patron who advised me of the switch in managers, we have our answer. It will be a "cold" day (etc) as the saying goes before I patronize the Norman Chuy's again. Ted's Mexican Cafe Escondido is right next door, and always a pleasant experience! I will share today's experience at Chuy's with my friends and acquaintances. One substandard host, one unsympathetic manager, Chuy's head office might want to take notice. read more

I used to love Chuy's but after returning recently, they've definitely gotten worse. The salsa they give isn't great and with most Tex Mex places, dishes usually cost more because of all the food they give you, which makes sense. (Chips, tortillas, queso, salsa, etc) Chuy's only gives you below average salsa and chips. Their queso tastes great, but it costs like $7-8. I got the Steak Burrito and the steak tasted more like brisket. Sure, I love brisket but not when I'm ordering fajita style steak. And that's most of what the burrito was. Again, I love brisket but typically not in a burrito. I'm glad they gave so much of it, but it just tasted like I was eating flavorless meat and tortilla. I only order burritos with fajita chicken or steak so maybe others would like this more than how I did. Their Tres Leches cake is one of the main reasons my friends and I come back. I used to go for their main entrees, but I was either ignorant back then, or management has changed the food. It doesn't help that their water tastes disgusting too because of their Norman location but I'm not holding that against them. That's just nasty Norman water depending on the time of year. I'm going to try and give their food one more chance and update the review soon, but I have a feeling I'm only going to be happy with the Tres Leches, which is one of the easier menu items to make. read more

I drove from Wichita for a mini get away alone. I always loved Chuy's but we don't have one in Wichita. I ordered a meal and a drink. I waited over an hour and 30 minutes watching tables that came in after me with large tables be served their food and I never received mine. I ended up leaving because I hadn't ate all day and was starving. My waitress apologized multiple times but driving hours for no service was highly irritating. I've thrown away/wasted enough Mexican rice eating out to sustain a small country...but not today! Nope! I don't know what they put in that stuff but damn it is good! I ate all of it and am painfully regretting not ordering some to take home. Next: They don't have a spicy salsa, but they have some kind of "spicy sauce". It looks almost like a dark salsa. It lit me up pretty good but not too bad. The flavor though...it was good enough I'm writing about it, let's just leave it at that. Next time I'm gonna get both to go and mix them together and lie to some girl like I made it myself. I had the boom boom chicken enchiladas. I think that's the name. They were also excellent. It wasn't too busy, even on a Friday during prime lunch time, and the service was great. Our waitress was on top of her game. It was a work meeting for lunch so unfortunately no alcoholic beverages were consumed. The prices were also pretty inexpensive vs what I was expecting. Maybe they have different dinner menus. Extremely poor quality food. Taste like the chicken came out of a frozen Walmart bag. We got drinks at the bar while waiting and my friend had a bug in her drink, the bartender didn't seem phased and didn't even apologize which would have been nice. The flour tortillas although made right there in the restaurant had a very floury dry texture, no taste and overcooked. Not to mention that it took us an hour to get our food and once it came out it was cold. Not sure if they were understaffed or our waitress was just super slow but it took forever to even get our drinks. This was our first experience here and DEFINITELY our last. This used to be a very good place for Tex-mex. I'm not sure if it's because of the pandemic they've lessened the quality of their food , but my family and I went there a couple weeks ago, was really disappointed. We understand they limited their menu options, the service was great. However, our food (although that was served very quickly after we ordered) tasked like it was sitting out. I had got the chicken fajitas. My chicken was really dry and tasted like it was just warmed up. The vegetables weren't as tasted too, they've tasked like they were warmed up or either over cooked. My husband got a chili relleno and he said it tasted like it came from frozen and warmed up. The rice was very dry too, like it may have been setting out for a while. Our sever was great but the bartender needs more training or something. We ordered Texas Tini's which we get all the time in Texas. Here, we got a margarita that tie tried to pass off as a Mexican martini by saying "it's really just a margarita that we call a Mexican Martini." Uh, no. They are not the same, just because they both have tequila. Chuy's Mexican martinis have a salted rim, olive juice, and jalapeño stuffed olives. These had none of that. We normally love Chuy's and made a special trip to Norman last Saturday. I don't leave negative reviews, but it just wasn't good. The service was slow. The normally great tortillas were dry and chewy. Salsa was great though! My Boom Boom Chicken enchiladas were barely wam and the sauce had a skin on top. I could barely cut the enchiladas. I asked for more Boom Boom sauce and they charged $4.15 for a tiny bowl. My husband's huge platter was all dried up. Pretty sure the plates sat under the heating lamps for at least 15 minutes. We're sad because we decided never to go back. read more

The only thing consistent about our dinner was the torn up wet floor sign by our table...at least this was there for us the whole meal. Everything and everyone else...not so much. From the mistakes on the drink order (two sweet teas and a water), to the long delay on food, this location has lots of issues. Thought it was time to go back for a Tex-Mex fix! The staff is very friendly and attentive! The complimentary tortilla chips and salsa is excellent! Thin, crisp chips with finely chopped tomato salsa with a hint of heat! There are many, many combinations of dishes and platters. There is also an Elvis theme on the menu and in the decor. The exterior has a patio in season. The interior is a mixture of metal palm trees and portraits of I assume relatives! The enchilada platters are customizable to your preferred meat and sauce! The quesadilla is not like any I have had. The tortilla was shaped like a taco with ingredients on the side. Red cabbage, carrots, sour cream and guacamole. It tasted great but was surprised that there was not cheese included! The prices are about the same as most Mexican places except for drinks! $3.00 for tea and most alcoholic drinks were in the $10-12. Definitely worth another visit! read more

The menu was really cut back so I ordered the BEEF burrito....which consisted of a can of beans and a couple tablespoons of beef. $10+ for a bean burrito is ridiculous...and not what I ordered. I went to Chuys in Norman this evening and it was pretty busy so I asked if me and my husband could go sit in the bar, I was told it was open seating so we went on in. The service was absolutely horrible, we sat for around 5-10 minutes before even being greeted and then we ordered our drinks and proceeded to wait another 20 minutes to get two of the cocktails featured on the drink menu, we ordered queso, it never came. Our entrees came out and they were cold but as someone who has bartended and served I never go out of my way to make someone in the service industry feel more stressed as the bartender was already scrambling around trying to get caught up. Since our queso never came I just asked for an order of it to go, the queso was cold and very watery, not normal for Chuys queso at all. Overall, it was just a very unpleasant experience to have especially after spending a little over 100$ after tipping. The managers definitely should've stepped in and supported the bartender in order to provide better service to the customers. I usually love Chuys food and drinks but tonight was just not it, I hope they improve the quality of service and food. read more
