It's not remotely inexpensive, but, it's better than any sit down restaurants within 30 miles, just take it out. The service is mediocre, what can you expect from a small town of people that don't feel $15 an hour is worth working for. The place is not clean, and smells like bug killer spray. Idk where to start. Service wasn't polite when I walked in. They claimed they had no ice/little ice when the whole ice container was full. I ordered a cup bigger than 32oz and she only put 4 ice cubes in the cup. My ICED tea was HOT! The food came out fast but it wasn't very fresh. The Mac and cheese was cold and not packaged fresh. Mashed potatoes were okay. The chicken was just sitting in racks and looked dry and they were dry. The floor of the kitchen was disgusting! Super dirty with flour or batter all over the floor. I was disappointed how an elderly man who was obviously down on his luck, limping and not in good health was treated for not picking up his bag off the table when he was done. He was yelled at and told he would not be let back in if he didn't pick it up. He was a paying customer and it hurt no one to just throw away his bag that was on the table. They all seem pained to do their job, they take a while to acknowledge if you're at the counter and they look at each other trying to see if someone else will serve you instead of them. Had a meeting in Joe City. Once the meeting was done I decided to eat here before my long haul home. I have always been a fan of Church's. When I was a kid my mom and I liked Church's. My dad and brother liked KFC. My mom would pick up both on Friday night for family movie night. Both of those places are still there on Central and Baseline too. This Church's was good. I enjoy Church's chicken but I don't get to go there a lot, so it was a stroke of luck that there was one across the street from our hotel, and it was still open, and the hotel restaurant cost a fortune incurring the ire of my wife. But for some reason one of the guys working there kept screaming at the rest of the crew. The Church's Chicken in Winslow is in a great location to enjoy a fresh hot reasonably priced meal (unlike at the La Posada hotel at the train station where you will part with some serious $) while visiting the "Standing On The Corner" statue and the Amtrak train station. I love the Tenders at Church's Chicken. They make them fresh, not frozen! They hand batter them and they come out so crisp and yummy. The jalapeno bombers are, well, the bomb! Oh and let's not forget how racist they are lol I ask for ranch after I just sat there for 30 minutes for them to open and another 30 minutes because they weren't even cooking yet because they decided to come to work late, they charged me for it but didn't make the native couple next to me pay for their ranch. I've decided to update my review of this establishment. I am giving them two stars, and that's being generous. I've generally enjoyed their food, but their customer service is always terrible. So, I go through the drive-thru to avoid them for the most part. Today, my partner and I decided to get some of their chicken for dinner. The woman working at the drive-thru window was rude, as usual. When we got home and opened the box of chicken, most of it was very skimpy. Hardly any actual chicken and mostly bones and dry skin. Ridiculous. Another issue that I have with this place, that I honestly didn't want to bring up, was that I believe there is a racial problem at this particular restaurant. They ONLY hire Native American employees, and are generally quite rude to non-Native American customers. I'm never the type to pull the "race card", but I feel it is appropriate here. This was my first visit to this location and I was not impressed. My visit was on Sun, 3/30, between 11-1130 am. First, the lady at the counter seemed to be annoyed that I was asking questions regarding getting all white meat instead of a mixed chicken meal, secondly, another lady joined her behind the counter and they preceded to have an "eye conversation" with one another while I continued to ask some questions. I was the only customer in line, so it was not like I was holding up other customers. Then, when I took my to-go order and later went to eat it, I only had a two piece meal when I'd ordered a three piece. I live 60 miles away, so no going back to complain and to top it off, I've had better chicken. We came into town and stayed at La Posada. Being from Dallas, TX and traveling 7 states this vacation, we have visited quite a few restaurants and can say by far, this was the worst. Very different from the restaurant settting, we chose to grab a quicker bite and thought fried chicken sounded great. We walked in and stood at the counter for nearly 5 minutes and still we were not acknowledged. What's worse is they all (Margo, tall Indian man w/a scarred looking face, who looked to be a supervisor, and a short Hispanic man in the back cooking) made eye contact w/us and still failed to acknowledge us. Finally, I said "Hi, good evening everyone" as they stood there and stared. They all seemed to be intimidated by this supervisor. He would be a liability to any establishment and it's hard for me to believe that a man of such horrible and impersonable demeanor has advanced to his position. Our chicken was dry and he already had this poor boy mopping, chairs and tables up, and the door locked by 8:30p when the sign says open until 9p. I am definitely following up with my dissatisfaction through corporate and hope they realize that a town with such a high level of visitors and tourists is worthy of a more humble and welcoming establishment than what they offer. read more
