Quick glance:
+ friendly staff / owner
+ spacious
+ visually appealing pub food
+ good burgers
+ generous portion of food...
- ...but a bit pricey
Three of us came here for lunch after visiting Stonehenge. I had the burger with chili con carne which came with chips and a salad. The salad was fresh and so was the burger, and the dish came with generous helping of chips.
One of us had the stir fry chicken which was colourful and tasted ok, and my other half ordered the special of the day pork pie but they misheard and he received a pork steak instead. It looked attractive but its taste was apparently mediocre.
We also ordered a side of garlic bread which was acidic and tasted manufactured, so I would avoid. The price wasn't prohibitive but was on par to some of the London pubs (£11 for stir fried chicken and rice?).
The (presumed) owner was sat by the bar near our table and had a good chat with us, giving us some ideas of where to visit nearby and how to get there. We gratefully followed her advice to see the close by white horse on the Wiltshire hill.
Overall, the food was ok and filling but not great value for money, but the people were friendly and you can get the local ale from Wadworth Brewery just down the road. read more
