It's very tough to find an honest mechanic isn't it? I know I've come across my fair share of…read moredishonest ones over the years. Finding out that someone has ripped you off completely can be a very stressful discovery. Say you go to a mechanic for an MOT and he fails your car and suggests £350 worth of work that needs doing. He then takes his £45 up front for the MOT test and "strongly suggests" that you get the work done at his Auto repairs shop. If you go somewhere else and get another quote or repairs, you can come back to get it retested without any additional MOT test costs. BUT, it's highly likely he/she might fail it again and suggest more repairs just out of bitterness. Eventually you find a mechanic who treats the car as his/her own and suggests cost effective ways of geting the job done with your circumstances in mind. For example there's no point you spending £90 on a wing mirror for a car you plan on part exchanging when you can get it repaired for £10. This is a family run garage with great friendly service. I spent a few hours at the here while they serviced/MOT'd it. Normally I do this to keep an eye on the job being done, keep them on their toes. You get it done quicker that way and they don't procrastinate. On this occasion though I found myself merrily chatting away and getting to know Yassar, Hamza and Ali. What a great bunch of young lads! The three were cousins and varied in terms of mechanical experiance, but the banter and enjoyment they got outta their work was inspirational. Whilst there, I also saw how people treat these mechanics when they come in for MOTs. I was frankly shocked by the obnoxious nature of some people who weren't very subtle in hiding their attempts at looking down on these highly skilled and knowledgable individuals. I began to see why so many mechanics are always moody and evasive. All of these revelations made me appreciate these guys even more. They were just happy to have a customer who actually asked them how their day was going. I shall be coming back here for my MOT from now on and reassured them that I'd spread the word. So there...I've done it.. So don't be put off by the secluded nature of this place, or the fact that it looks rundown and a bit grimey. The service is very good!

Absolutely Dishonest. Avoid at All Costs! I was charged an…read moreextra £100 for a simple tyre change because they claimed they "searched everywhere" and couldn't find the wheel nut key in my car. A few days later, I found the key exactly where it always is - in the boot! Either they didn't bother looking properly, or they deliberately lied to charge me more. This kind of behaviour is completely unprofessional and dishonest. I strongly recommend you take your car elsewhere. Do not trust this garage with your money or your vehicle.

Hi Les, Thank you…read morefor getting back to me. For your reference I have never written a poor review for any company but in light of recent events I am glad I did. In response to your reply, firstly you charged me an extortionate price for changing the motor on my windscreen wipers (£250), I would not have had this work completed if I had, had another option. After the work was completed I called up to explain that actually the windscreen wipers now stopped halfway up my windscreen. In response to this a worker told me that unfortunately this was unavoidable and no further work could be done to return the wipers to their original resting position. At the time I thought this was strange as when in motion the wipers were able to move to this position. I have recently taken my car to a reputable Vauxhall dealership (who have repeatedly charged me reasonable costs for work done and carried out the work at a high standard). When tested for its MOT the mechanic noticed a problem with the wiper as the connecting arms were not set up correctly, he adjusted this (free of charge) and now my wipers are in complete working order. Many Thanks, Liz

I had high hopes for this garage after deciding to move from my long-term garage to support a…read morelocal, independent business. The initial booking process was professional, and I particularly appreciated the honesty when they called me well in advance to correct a mistake on their initial quote. Unfortunately, this positive start did not last. The main issues began on the day of the MOT and service. A misunderstanding over the 8 am appointment time, which was not clarified in the text reminder I received, meant I arrived later than expected. I am happy to own my part in that delay; however, the reaction I received from one of the mechanics was completely unprofessional. Rather than explaining the situation, he was visibly angry, repeatedly checked his watch, and spoke to me in a condescending tone that made me feel incredibly unwelcome. This is not how any customer should be treated. The most significant failure, however, was the complete breakdown in communication later in the day. After approving necessary repairs, I was left waiting for an update. I received no calls at all towards the end of the day. It was only at 5:30 pm, after the reception and workshop staff had apparently gone home, that another employee fortunately thought to check and call me to say my car was still on the ramp and would not be ready. To be left without my car overnight, with no warning whatsoever from the team responsible, is simply unacceptable. The car was ready the next morning, and the final repair work seems fine. However, even the complimentary car wash was symbolic of the lack of care shown--it was a poor effort that failed to remove simple surface dirt. While the reception staff were friendly and the work was eventually completed, the stressful encounter with the mechanic and the shocking lack of end-of-day communication mean I cannot recommend this garage. A business is only as strong as its weakest link, and unfortunately, the disorganisation and unprofessional attitude here overshadowed any positives.

John is a friendly guy and when I was having problems with the electrics on my car on Saturday, I called up and he was more than happy if I ran it down for him to give it a good looking over. Turned out it was a blown fuse that was easily replaced within 10 minutes and with me fully expecting to pay to have it fixed he gave it to me for free and said no probs. This is the sort of great local business still out there and I'll definitely still keep going here for the great service and great MOT's.
