Hands down, the best all-around medical practice I have ever found (and I have been to quite a…read morefew...) I had an undiagnosed, rather personal, and extremely unpleasant medical condition for more than five years. I went to at least six doctors -- gynecologists, psychiatrists, psychologists, not to mention GPs -- in two states and was told, again and again, that I was a nutjob with clearly repressed memories of horrific childhood abuse. It took Dr. Barbara O'Connell ten minutes to say, "Honey, you're fine. Thirty minutes in the OR and you'll be good to go." I cannot speak highly enough of this woman, and since said operation (two years ago this March), I have recommended her in gushing terms to all of my gyno-needing friends. Seriously. (However, it can take a while to get a new-patient appointment, which sucks, but I think is often the case with competent gynecologists.)

She manages to be no nonsense while also being very compassionate. She has helped me through many medical problems and has gone above and beyond to help me when I had an emergency. In addition to Mary, I have also had wonderful experiences with all of the other nurses there. I really can't say enough wonderful things about this place. I recommend it to all of my female friends and I will never go anywhere else so long as I live in Madison.

Do yourself a favor - just get it done. Was my New Year resolution. (Done!) I got a call reminder days in advance and even got a text confirming! Wasn't overkill, but it did keep it fresh in my mind. Believe me I fought with canceling it as I just H.A.T.E. this part of being a woman. Needed a new doc. Found one. Highly recommend this clinic! Location is easy on/off Hwy 50 and I43 in Delavan. The front desk staff registered me efficiently and professionally. Before I could take off my coat and sit down, Denise (Nurse) called my name and proceeded me into an examination room. She took my medical history via laptop. Hello? No check boxes to fill out. Very nice. Denise was professional but down to earth. Explained what would occur (usual stuff, no surprises there...) asked me if I had any questions or concerns then left me to disrobe. So....yeah let's just skip to the Doc here. Dr. Susan Hagnell was awesome. She's just a good doctor. Informative, concise, asks questions and waits for the answer. Direct eye contact, shows good bedside manner and I know this isn't important but I thought it says a lot about her personally. She has a great style! Loved her outfit, loved her hair, she obviously cares about her appearance. I know that's not critical but it does say she has personal pride even though she must work crazy hours. So there you go ladies. Make the appt and get it done. Oh - Dr. Hagnell wants me get a mammogram too dang it. Another fun procedure... sigh. Stay tuned :) Be well...

Unfortunately, my nurse practitioner Christine Weerts has left her practice to be a mommy, which j completely respect and feel she deserves. Will probably never find a primary care provider as wonderful as Christine, wish more Yelp reviews were available for healthcare providers in the area.

I've been here before so that helped, but seriously, it took less than five minutes. Give these ladies a raise! The last time I came here was in 2014, and I recall that being a pretty quick deal too. I think it helps when you have competent workers who know how to use the Aurora linked computer system. If you show up on time for your appointment everything will run smoothly. Don't be late! The waiting area is extremely large for this place. Every time I've come here there has been maybe one or two others waiting, but there is seating for 40 or more. It is clean, quiet and the chairs are actually comfortable. I didn't notice a television but there were a ton of magazines to read in case your phone battery goes dead. If you don't fancy reading, you can just stare out the windows and watch traffic go by. It's not a bad view on a sunny day. All the nurses and doctors here are professional and very kind. They understand that discussing your internal anatomy can sometimes be embarrassing and difficult to talk about. You don't throw around vagina's in general everyday conversations. Unless you do, then way to go. But for the general population it's an uncomfortable topic. They get it. Don't be scared. If you can't talk about it with professional lady doctors, who can you talk about it with? I have never had anything but discreet courtesy from these women and every one has been very forthcoming with helpful advice when needed. The nurse I had today was very funny in fact, and we made each other laugh. Eases the tension. If additional blood work is needed, they do have a lab on site, which I think is cool. Saves a trip. There is no direct entry to the lot from Ryan Rd, so you have to turn in to the business park like you're going to Culver's and continue around until you meet the lot for the pavilion. There are a couple of other businesses in this building, but the Women's clinic is on the side that faces Ryan Rd. If you need to get your bits checked out, and have the choice, I'd recommend coming here.

Recently, the center underwent (yet another) extensive remodeling. It's switched from the old style, down the corridor to an exam room floor plan to a centralized layout. Patient confidentiality is a priority here. Unlike the old days, you will not (typically) encounter other patients or staff unless you both happen to be on the move to or from the lobby. The new design is part of the Patient-Centered Medical Home Program where we (patients) can establish a long-term relationship with a practitioner and a team of medical professionals who actually try to get to know us. The staff here is professional but outgoing and friendly. They are all top-notch pros at what they do. From the receptionists to the lab to x-ray to doctors, this is an impressive operation. The lobby is huge, with comfortable furniture for all ages including high chairs for folks with mobility issues and a special alcove with juvenile tables and chairs for the little folks along with activities to keep them occupied. There is a television (usually on the home improvement channel) and periodicals that are actually current and of popular interest! Chances are pretty good you won't be in there very long, either. Froedtert has an impressive computer network. Rows and rows of lateral file cabinets and thousands of manila folders? All gone! Terminals everywhere bring up your record instantly to whoever is providing services. Hang nails to hearts, infants to old farts like me, this clinic does it all and does it very well. Besides all that, they put up with me. ;)

There is little regard for continuity of mental health care. After seeing Gil Roth since 2021, when I called to schedule an appointment after a four month lapse, I was told I was no longer eligible to be a patient as I did not have a PCP in the clinic. I haven't had a PCP in the clinic since 2023. I never received notice in writing of this new "policy" (a nurse later coldly told me this isn't a "policy", but that "Gill Roth and Dr. Cordes are providers that were hired by Associated Physicians to see our patients"). There is nothing posted on their website, even now: https://www.apmadison.com/behavioral-health (It even says Gil is accepting new patients- ironic, since they are actively turning them away). So beware- because it isn't in writing as far as I can tell- if you aren't in their PCP club, even if you are a pre-existing patient with years of a relationship established- they have very little regard for the continuity of your mental health care.
