After a couple years of inadequate care elsewhere, I'm happy to have found Associated Physicians. When my "usual" doctor left the practice, Dr. Fothergill took over and she has been thorough and helped me even when I didn't know I needed it. She referred me to an allergist and that decision was unexpected, but also incredibly helpful. I also see Dr. Schwartz for OB/GYN, and she is the best gynecologist ever. I wouldn't say I like having gyno visits, generally, but she's the best in town. read more

Update: someone is reviewing reviews and covering themselves. They updated the website within hours of my Yelp review. Screenshot of the website pre- and post-review attached. There is little regard for continuity of mental health care. After seeing Gil Roth since 2021, when I called to schedule an appointment after a four month lapse, I was told I was no longer eligible to be a patient as I did not have a PCP in the clinic. I haven't had a PCP in the clinic since 2023. I never received notice in writing of this new "policy" (a nurse later coldly told me this isn't a "policy", but that "Gill Roth and Dr. Cordes are providers that were hired by Associated Physicians to see our patients"). There is nothing posted on their website, even now: https://www.apmadison.com/behavioral-health (It even says Gil is accepting new patients- ironic, since they are actively turning them away). So beware- because it isn't in writing as far as I can tell- if you aren't in their PCP club, even if you are a pre-existing patient with years of a relationship established- they have very little regard for the continuity of your mental health care. read more

Dr. Schmehil is very kind, easy to talk to, and I feel nonjudgmental which I feel is important in an OB/GYN. I've had so many over the years with moves/job changes and her demeanor was one of the best I've ever experienced. I am so lucky to be under the care of the providers and staff of Associated Physicians. I say lucky because of the example of my PCP, Dr. Zoe Rammelkamp, who is far beyond outstanding. Her attention to details, preemptive care, an amazing listener, and with her extensive medical knowledge, all make her a top rated medical doctor. And, Dr. Gil Roth, I owe him my ability to withstand the pressures, sometimes insurmountable, being a civil servant in the federal workforce. Thanks to his amazing professional skills, I was able to overcome post-covid work dynamics, followed by the Doge onslaught. Gil's care is happiness-inducing, stress-avoiding, resiliency building. Dr. Roth's ability to connect, communicate, counsel, and enable, are all of a world class therapist. I am with Associated Physicians simply because of these care providers, Rammelkamp and Roth, they set the standards of medical care. read more

I set up an appointment as a new patient and waited the (fairly typical) 3 months to have my first visit. The day before the visit, I get a call saying they can't fit me in for a 'full check-up' and asked if I was comfortable with them splitting the visit in two - 1 as a 'meet and greet' and 1 as a check-up. I did not want this, but I was explicitly told that if I rescheduled for a single appointment, it'd be another 4-5 months before they could fit me in. Fine, I re-arranged my plans to make this work. I had a pointless 30-minutes appointment where no checkup was done and nothing was accomplished - I still am unsure of the point - and then returned 4 weeks later for the actual checkup. Even though they forced these two appointments, they greedily billed me for both. I called and explained the situation - frustrated I had to spend another 30 minutes to get this wrongful bill resolved - to learn that this is not only common, it's actually expected. I explained how I was the one inconvenienced by this practice and although the person I spoke to understood, she had no authority to remove the additional $200 charge. When I spoke to the person in billing, she shared that this was a common complaint from their patients, an indication that this is actually by design to bilk more money from their customers. This is outright thievery and is a strategy of theirs to squeeze more money out of their patients. My insurance company insists this is inaccurate and advised me not to pay it. The bill remains outstanding and without resolution. Be warned, this group may have good physicians, but they are predatory in how they will bill you. read more

I'm originally from New Jersey, so my health insurance is based in New Jersey, thus limiting the number of in-network doctors I can see in the Midwest. I noticed the farther out I went, the fewer options I had. Of course, I called the bigger places first, and they told me either they weren't taking new patients or they couldn't schedule me until 2017. Well, thanks. Finally, I called Associated Physicians and was able to get an appointment for the following week. I've only had one experience here, but it was a positive one. I didn't wait very long in the waiting room. I remember there have been times at other clinics where I've waited for an hour or more with barely any face time with the doctor. The nurse came to get me and asked all the necessary questions. She was very receptive to everything I was concerned about and made sure to write it down for the doctor to see. I saw Dr. Fothergill and she was really great. Regarding my concerns, she gave her list of options, and asked me what I thought. I like that she really listens and asks more questions to clarify. read more

I've been with this group for several months and so far, I am impressed. Showed up one day for an acute visit with no appointment, first thing in the morning, and they saw me within 45 minutes (your mileage may vary). They seem to be on the ball, have good check-in staff that are nice and efficient, and I have not been kept waiting very long for a scheduled appointment (it would be OK if I was, I get it). Plus they respond to MyChart messages very fast, which I notice. I have had good physician experiences as well, of course. So far, I am glad I switched from a much larger facility located a few blocks away. read more

This rating is specifically for the ob/gyn department. I can not speak to the other departments. I had a very negative experience for what should have been a routine visit. Dr. Schmehil-Micklos did not seem to know what she was doing and furthermore was unapologetic about it. I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere for your ob/gyn needs. read more

From phone conversations with the receptionist & schedulers to triage Nurse Chelsea & my specific doctor I was seeing -- Dr Amanda Schwartz, I absolutely loved this place. I only had two prenatal visits here in my early pregnancy and I had to transfer since I was moving. Nurses and Dr Schwartz gave me such a clear understanding and comfortability to trust them and I could feel the amazing support from them as well. I so wish I could've gone my whole pregnancy seeing them and I was sad to go! But I'm glad I had such an amazing two visits -- that I would recommend them to anyone! read more

I had been dealing with a very painful situation and heard about Dr. Jennifer Everton. I have now been seeing her for years, but from the beginning she dug in and attempted to help solve my pain issue. Looking at all systems etc. I would never had made it through all of this without her. I have given her name to others who have started going to her as well. She truly listens and makes all attempts to get to the bottom of whatever problems exist. read more

We've had so many red flags after 6 months of prenatal care we're switching to another group before we give birth and something REALLY wrong occurs. The nurses are RUDE - I've interacted with 6 of them, four were just awful! One nurse (in her mid-50s) actually forgot to turn the fetal heart rate monitor on and said, "That's funny, I don't hear a thing". OMG, what moron! I had to tell her to turn on the machine. Another nurse recently told me I've gained too much weight - I've gained 23 lbs and I'm 31 weeks pregnant! ??? She later came back and indicated she was incorrect, but why would she say that??? Our OB is nice, but she's transferring out of the group soon. There seems to be a lot of drama, I really DO NOT recommend going there. read more

I have been a patient at AP for the last couple years. When I got pregnant I was referred here from UHS and could not have been happier with my experience. (I had moved here from Milwaukee and hadn't gotten hooked up with a new OBGYN yet). My OB was Dr. Weidel, but I met all five doctors who had been in that practice, and Dr. Dickmeyer delivered my son. However, about a year ago, four of the five OBs from this practice left AP to start their own women's health clinic, Madison Women's Health. Now they have four new OB-GYNs at AP, and presumably new nurses, PAs too. I followed Dr. Weidel to MWH and I would really strongly recommend this new practice. It is very nice and the doctors are great. They are concerned about comprehensive women's health so there's more emphasis on overall health and well-being, not just OBGYN-related sort of things. Since my son was born he has seen Dr. Heather Rainwater in the peds department at AP and we have also been very happy with everything in that area. The nurses are really nice, they are pretty quick with everything, and the doctors seem to enjoy their work. read more

My son has seen Dr. Cahill since he was about two years old. We've followed her from UW to Meriter to here because we don't want any other physician. What I like best about her is that she is able to change her mind when new information arises. She's willing to admit when she's wrong. This is crucial because my son is not typical and it is often hard to figure out what is going on with him. Nevertheless, she has been right more often than not. This is because she listens and believes me when I tell her his symptoms, even if the symptoms don't seem to fit any particular diagnosis. She tells me what she's thinking, gives me some options, and we discuss the next steps to take. I never feel like I don't have a choice or that if I choose the "wrong" treatment, she's not going to continue to support us in that decision. I've had some disagreements with her, my son has been astonishingly rude to her, and she does not take these things personally. She responds calmly and honestly and continues to treat my son with her full attention and all of her skill. read more

I have been a long time patient of Associated Physicians for many years. I have seen multiple doctors and nurses and it's always been a good experience until today! I saw Mary Ann Picone and I would not recommend her. I felt like she didn't even look at my chart, had no bedside manner and that I was an inconvenience. If you're into formula feeding, non natural parenting, but don't care if children in the clinic's waiting room are vaccinated, these are the physicians for you. Two of the pediatricians told me that there's not much difference between formula and breast milk , drs. Rainwater and Sia. I was informed that vaccines were a parents choice when I asked about the schedule they supported. Also, because my son lost some of his birthweight while in the hospital, I was accused of possibly brain damaging my child. I switched to a family med physician immediately. My breast fed son is now 2 and doing awesome. So glad to not see a group of alarmists. read more

I'm a male in my 40 and have never found a doctor they had my best interests at heart. They all (male or female) feed you preprogrammed one liners. That was until I met Thomas Hyzer. He is my favourite doctor yet. Simply put he is a no nonsense guy. If you ask him a question he will give you an intelligent answer. He also shares his train of thought that brought him to that solution. He is more than willing to comply with your request but will also tell you if it is a waste of time. Hyzer is not for everyone, if you want a doctor that needs to sugar coat everything and give you moral support this isn't your man. If you want someone who give you the facts, even if they are hard to here this is your man. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Berghahn's for about 3 years now. My Obstetrics history is quite lengthy, having experienced five miscarriages prior to the birth of our miracle baby and one miscarriage after. After transferring my OB care to Dr. Berghahn after my second miscarriage I immediately noticed a difference from the previous practice. She really took the time to get to know both me and my husband, talk about my history, and come up with a plan for the future. She was supportive of me seeing specialists when it became clear there was something more complex going on and was always willing to work with my other doctors to ensure I was getting what I needed for a healthy pregnancy. I will never forget after my third loss the voicemail Dr. Berghahn left for me. She told me about an article she had just read and how the statistics for a successful pregnancy were almost exactly the same for me as it would be for someone who had never had a loss. It meant so much to me that she would take the time to call me just to reassure and encourage me. I am now the mother of a thriving 6 month old baby girl and was especially lucky that Dr. Berghahn was the doctor on call the night I gave birth. It seemed so fitting, She had been with us from the start and I am so thankful she got to experience our happy ending with us too. I would highly recommend Dr. Berghahn or any of the providers at Associated Physcians. I have never experienced such a high level of care for me, the patient, as I have at AP. read more

I have nothing bad to say - the appointment backlog isn't bad, I never sit in the waiting room to long, my doctor listens well and never seems rushed, and they're quite willing to discuss things by phone when appropriate, saving me unnecessary appointments and co-pays. read more

I highly recommend Associated Physicians. I have been a patient since the 1980s. My doctors provide thorough exams; so thorough that a routine appointment about headaches led to an exam that uncovered a serious unrelated problem. Follow up is excellent. I was referred elsewhere for additional tests, yet my AP doc called just to see how I'm doing (even though she has info from referral). From routine exams to other health problems, AP is great. read more

If you see Dr. Schmehil or Dr. Hackforth-Jones for gynecological stuff you'll be in great hands. They are both excellent. If you need pre-natal care I would select a different clinic because if they are unavailable when you go into labor you may end up with Dr. Burns. I went into labor 12 hours before my scheduled repeat C-section. She was on call and coerced me into a VBAC. After the few quick pushes she thought it would take did not work, she did an episiotomy without my consent, used so much suction she bruised my baby's head which resulted in jaundice, then gave me a C section anyway. I was charged more than the cost of a vaginal birth and C section COMBINED. I needed physical therapy and counseling. Obstetric violence is the best term for this experience. read more

I have realized there are Angels here on Earth. This team of professionals is one in a million. Their dedication and passion for care is like nothing I had experienced before. I have two children that are being cared for by Dr. Buencamino. I was lucky to have found her and her peers. Our youngest daughter had some issues after birth. The pediatrician that we previously had was not getting us the answers we needed to care for her properly. We were just devastated and worried for our child's well being. I decided I had to make a change and find a Doctor that would care for our child as we do. I found Dr. Buencamino. I was nervous but went in for an appointment. She jumped right in to my daughters case. She worked right away to get us the testing and resources we needed. I left the office in tears. I could not believe I had finally found such an amazing human being that would be caring for my daughter. She had so much knowledge and a heart of gold. She is more than a Physician in my eyes. She was an answered prayer that we had been waiting for. I have seen several of the on call Doctors for a variety of things last minute and they have all been so amazing. I have recommended this office to anyone that would listen and will continue to do so. 5 stars is not even enough! Thank you from the bottom of my heart. read more

As a patient of this clinic for over 20 years, I have nothing but praise for the doctors, nurses and all others that work at Associated Physicians. Just walking in the door of the clinic, one can feel the warmth and caring of everyone on staff. I primarily see my internist; however, as AP is a multi-specialty clinic I am able to see specialists at the same site. It is very convenient. My primary care doctor is Dr. Francis Ryan. She's great!! The excellent care she has given me with hormone and thyroid issues, recent knee injury, etc. has helped so much. She listens to what you say and takes you seriously. Result - improved health. Her nurses are always right on top of things and friendly. Never have had an issue. I moved from a top class University Town to Madison. I expected the same treatment here. Unfortunately this was a nightmare!. These people could not get my son's referral to UW and it took almost 2 weeks. Then they blamed it on FAX machine , UW staff and also suggested that I carry it to UW if they fail again! There are few smart-ass nurses in the pediatrics who are extremely unhelpful. Then they mess up another appointment for a particular test with referral and cancelled it without even asking. What a bunch of clowns.. If you care about your kids, stay away from this place. read more
