Their desserts have also been officially marked as "not too sweet" by my inlaws so you know it's got that Asian parent stamp of approval! I haven't tried the basque cheesecakes and the puddings, but have been a repeat customer for their roll cakes. So far I've tried their matcha, coffee, and black sesame roll cakes and all are fantastic. Super strong flavors and the chiffon cake isn't too dry. I will say for a single slice the price is quite steep, but it /is/ located in Palo Alto so rent is not cheap I would assume. I was at the MP location earlier this week and saw not one but TWO health code violations committed by employees. First, one of the ladies was drinking out of an open cup at the front where the food and beverages are prepared. This is against the health code! 113977. (a) Except as specified in subdivision (b), an employee shall eat or drink only in designated areas where contamination of nonprepackaged food; clean equipment, utensils, and linens; unwrapped single-use articles; or other items needing protection cannot result. (b) A food employee may drink from a closed beverage container if the container is handled to prevent contamination of the employee's hands, the container, nonprepackaged food, and food-contact surfaces. The employee (brown hair in a ponytail, wearing grey Adidas) was frequently drinking a pink drink from a clear open cup behind the counter where the pastries are! Also, I saw the male employee behind the counter sneeze and use his bare hand to cover his sneeze. He rubbed his nose and sniffed. I was watching him from my table to make sure that he washed his hands. He went over to the sink behind the cash register and I kid you not, he turned on the water and for literally ONE SECOND put his hands under it. He then wiped his hands together to dry them. HE DID NOT USE SOAP TO WASH HIS HANDS AFTER SNEEZING INTO THEM!!!! Article 4. Handwashing 113953.3. (a) (2) After touching bare human body parts other than clean hands and clean, exposed portions of arms. Went back later that day met Omer who was also very welcoming and ordered the Turkish breakfast which was also amazing and so healthy IMO. By the time our meal arrived, our drinks were empty, but our waitress never offered refills or asked if we wanted another drink. She also never checked whether our food was okay or if we needed anything. Throughout the evening, we had to seek someone out for basic service. The same thing happened when we ordered an espresso with dessert. We had already finished dessert and were still waiting for the espresso, so we had to flag someone down again. They quickly brought it over, but that was cold, too. The manager comped one dessert, but that didn't make up for the long waits, disappointing food, and consistently inattentive service. We spent the evening trying to get basic service instead of enjoying a birthday celebration. After years of positive experiences at other RH locations, this was especially disappointing.
