The idea behind this unique cinema is brilliant, but unfortunately it lacks a little bit in execution. A cinema where you can have dinner sounds pretty perfect but sitting at a table that faces away from the screen makes eating while watching slightly difficult. The room is flat (not stadium style) so if you're vertically challenged try to get to the front to not be obstructed. I would suggest eating something you can eat with your hands so you can turn towards the screen. Once you're done eating you spend the rest of the movie in an office chair with no arm rests. It would have made more sense if they had stadium seating in long rows with long continuous tables like in college lecture halls. The food itself is "mid" as my kids would say but I wasn't expecting gourmet. They have a nice cocktail and beer menu for the adults. Overall, it's still a fun time and could really be fantastic with a few upgrades. read more

The menu items are not terrible. In fact, I'm a big fan of any of their nachos. Most of the appetizers are a good bet. Like any restaurant however, the fuller the theatre, the longer it takes to get the food. You can get in an hour ahead of time to make sure you order and have some time, but then you're not really eating while watching the movie. Of course, it's hard to eat and watch a movie when the screen is at the end of the room and the table is to your left or right. Oh, and it's dark. Not too dark - that string of explosions definitely lights up your chicken fingers for a moment or two, but is it enough time to dip it in BBQ sauce and enjoy a few fries? Also, the seats are close together, so you can slide apart when you're not eating to get the best view, but they removed the arms so they fit better. So good luck finding somewhere to put your arms. For my mother in law's 75th we rented out a theatre and played her favorite movie and invited everyone we could think of. That was super fun. Who cares if people were talking and eating, or elbowing one another? We brought a sheet cake, they brought gifts - and occasionally we even watched the film. They used to have good high noon nachos and now they have these plain chips with a side of queso, side of Jarred salsa and what is supposed to be guacamole but all it is, is a whole avocado with absolutely nothing in it. We haven't been to Chunky's since the Nashua location closed so we were excited to go tonight. We were attending Bingo night and had no clue what to expect. For starters we were absolutely amazed by all the decor for the new Jurassic World movie!! It was absolutely outstanding!!! We settled in to our seats and waited to order... and waited... and waited. My husband finally got a waiters attention and he came over immediately and apologized on behalf of our would be waitress Jada. He (Izzy) put in our appetizer and drinks right away. Jada brought by our drinks shortly and never asked if we wanted anything else and never came back at all. The only ordering we got was through Izzy who went way out of his way to help us along with many other customers who weren't his. He was extremely apologetically and had absolutely NO reason to be, he was fantastic!! Unfortunately Jada definitely should not have a job in hospitality or customer service fields. Izzy truly saved our night and we will be back because of his service. Outside of the service the food was great and the bingo was an absolute blast!! Chunky's is one of my children's favorite experiences. We love going here for a movie and food. We have gone here since it has opened, and we have never been disappointed. You go here to watch a movie and get quick food. Is the foood quality? Noo it is not but it is a great place to grab extra food and go for drinks. For the adults they have great alcoholic beverages and for the kids they have mocktails, butter beer, and lots of normal soda and water. Our favorite shareable appetizer is the nachos and the adams sampler. The name of the foods are based off movies. The decorations are great. They have qr codes were you can order or waiters/waitress's walking around taking orders. I only gave it 4 stars because the quality of the food has gone downhill over time but we still enjoy going here and grabbing some snacks while watching a movie!! read more

We love coming to Chunkys. The movie tickets are pretty inexpensive compared to other theaters, but that's because of the fulls service restaurant and bar available. The service was slow today, but the server apologized and made sure things got to the table as soon as they were ready, not a huge deal since we were in the lunch rush. Typical pub food, the pretzel is a favorite as an appetizer. Salads were ok this time, but the drinks are fun. Barbie pink Malibu's and the kids nonalcoholic Slimer in a cup we get to keep were the highlights. Overall, great place to bring the family for an easy meal and entertainment. read more

During much darker times, I wrote a review about a theater that was seemingly losing its way since its inception. I acknowledged their impediment of service due to short staffing problems, questionable menu items, and overall atmosphere. And since the last two years I can say....some of that has improved slightly. For one thing, the menu seems to have gotten bigger. Or...maybe they just got nicer looking menus again. In any case, the vast selection I remember is on full display now. Though I still maintain the opinion that their popcorn is so phenomenal that it dwarfs most of the other stuff one could get. Probably because it's one of the few items that's guaranteed to have salt on it. The service is...tolerable. Look, it's no where near as sparse as it was two years ago. But I simultaneously remain in perpetual bewilderment by the fact that my popcorn still arrives 3 times faster than a non-mixed drink from the bar. For context, it took almost 30 additional minutes for a glass of wine to arrive after the popcorn. This stuff comes in a bottle. There is nothing to mix. I am....SO confused. I'll say this though: one of the main reasons even I'd rank the Manch-Vegas location legions over the one in Nashua is because, if for no other reason.....the screens are bigger. I'm not kidding. Go see a movie here. Then, go to the one in Nashua and compare the in-theater experiences. You'll almost immediately notice how laughably tiny the screens are in Nashua's theater. Not to mention...the popcorn here is also better. I dunno what it is. But I believe the Nashua staff are more afraid of salt than their Manchester counterpart. But, I digress. Whilst the online ordering via QR-scanned menu runs like a well oiled machine, the automated ticket scanners at the front doors remain ostensibly inoperable. Thing is, they've been like this since we came here to watch The Flash last month. How long does it take to get an automated ticket scanner back online? Don't know! ¯\_( ° °)_/¯ Ah, well. At least the concessionaires finally get something relevant to do, right? Just be prepared for longer lines on opening night. Yeah, they've come a ways since two years ago. Not that far though. I always loved Chunkys and never had any issues here when the location in Haverhill was still open. Now that Manchester is the the only one around me, I've noticed the quality has changed so much. I went here today with my children for the showing of the Polar Express. I loved the goodie bags, the hot chocolate we got, the polar express tickets for the kids, the employee at the door dressed as a conductor. My issue today was the service. The waitress took the drink order for everyone at my table except for me. I had to go find her to give her my drink order. When the food came out, mine was ice cold; I couldn't even eat it. The waitress never came back to refill drinks or see if we wanted anything else. Never asked if we wanted desert. Never asked if we wanted boxes to bring food home; I had to go find someone myself to ask for boxes. My daughter wanted macaroni and cheese, but apparently they don't serve it anymore, despite it still being on the menu. I paid over $200 (for 7 of us) just to get bad service and cold food. The person at the door dressed as the conductor was amazing though and very kind to my children. read more

How many people are gonna lose their jobs? Their income when this place finally closes. The food is crap. I was charged an upcharge of five dollars to add tomatoes to a grilled cheese sandwich. I ordered a drink took 45 minutes to get my drink. Ordered a second one. Same drink, totally different than the first one. There is no consistency nothing. These owners have no clue and the new manager they just hired, is clueless.All the good people they are running out of this place. I have no doubt that this place is gonna shut down.Just like every other chunkies in the area.These owners need to freaking wake up and do something. Tickets are cheap just the food suck, if you do get your drink go bottle or draft because you'll never get the same drink twice and why is there a dog there at night sometimes, and I get it. The food is decent, if it arrives. The last two times the staff didn't deliver our full order. The staff often don't come if you call them using the provided light, and the wifi provided for ordering online either doesn't work at all or takes many minutes to load a page. Even when one has ordered through the site, sometimes a staff member will insistently interrupt the movie while it's still running to demand payment--one night this happened repeatedly even when we had an open tab, the movie was still running, and we said we were paying online. After my prior bad experience, where roughly half of our order wasn't delivered, I was offered a discount for the next time (last night) which then couldn't be used. I'm not going back, and I've gone there for many years starting when the Nashua location was open. read more

We recently went Chunky's Cinema for the first time. We had a blast and the customer service was very good. The place is huge and the theater we were in was comfy. The sound during the film was beyond amazing and the food was really good. Our seats were comfortable and the quality of the film on the big screen was perfect. We had fun and so did our friend and her 9 year old. We will definitely return to Chunky's Cinema in Manchester because of the whole experience. And we love going to the movie theater and I don't want movie theaters to ever go away. Streaming is fine and we do that too but I want to always support our local movie theaters. The company I work for reserved a theatre auditorium for an event. Seats were comfy, vast amount of fried food options. I got a taco bowl which was average tasting but presentation was nice. For so many reasons, just go to a normal theater... the "dine" part barely exists so go old school and grab dinner before a movie.

-Read this if you have never been- I'm disappointed by the negative review bombs so many people are doing by a clear lack of understanding of what this establishment is. You order on the website via a QR code, if you need a waiter you turn the light on that they provided. It seems like so many people are disappointed they don't see a waiter like this is a regular restaurant, can you imagine how annoying it would be to have waiters constantly interrupting your movie? It is also clearly listed on their website that doors open 1 hour before your showtime. So many reviews of people showing up 15 minutes before the movie starts and acting surprised they don't get a waiter right to them?? If you want to spend your time with the menu and talking to the staff, show up early. I will say the food is sort of mediocre, if you want a nice dinner, this isn't the place for you, I would say it is a step above fast food. However the movie tickets are incredibly cheap, and you can get a full meal for less than the price of normal movie theaters these days, where you pay a stupid amount for a large drink and popcorn. My friends and I usually share the sampler app and its significantly cheaper than if we went to a normal theater. Plus we are full on real food, not snacks and candy. Its a fun and great atmosphere, they are understaffed at time and it can get hectic at prime movie times. Sit back and enjoy your movie, or if you can't handle teenagers struggling to keep up with the rush, go during an afternoon showing. tl;dr: the food is mediocre, but the movie+food combo is way cheaper than normal theaters, so that makes it worth it. They put alot of work into the decorations and I love the homemade/family owned feel. At first I was apprehensive about the theater because I know it is a restaurant as well as a theater but there was no pressure to order, and due to it being a restaurant experience the tickets are pretty inexpensive. The food is priced decently and it came out in a timely manner when ordered through the QR code. The seating is decent but the view is a little obstructed it seems from most angles due to no incline on the floor. The people working there are also really nice! read more

Finally a good Chunky's experience! I came to see Red One yesterday with friends (recommend) and waited less than 5 minutes before greeted by our server. Maggie was amazing! She gave us a full rundown of several food options for my friend with a gluten allergy. Food is okay, but it is mostly fried options. Went there on 11/13/2024 to see venom III. Arrived 630 for 645 show. Show begins still no one came to take our order about 30 minutes later I go outside the theater to find someone and they said they will send someone. 15 minutes later no one comes. About 1 hour into the move some comes and gives the excuse he is covering 5 theatres by himself. If thats true its pretty pathetic the management did nothing to resolve this. This is at least the 3rd this has happened to us at a Chunky's I can completely understand why the other 2 went out of business. We will definitely eat before/after the show and probably bring our own snacks with us. read more

The theaters and seats are great, 5 stars. Reserving your seats online is very convenient, especially for the events they've had that I've attended; comedy shows and scratch bingo. It is convenient to be able to pay via the text link as well. The 3 stars is because the food and drinks are always an issue. Even if you get there an hour early, your food will take forever to arrive and it's not that good either when it finally arrives. Another issue is everytime I order a bottled water there, it arrives after I've finished my food. It's happened 4 times now, even with asking the servers for it multiple times. It makes no sense to me that a bottled water doesn't get delivered with the other drinks ordered at the table. I've had to wait over an hour for simple appetizers to arrive. They were always cold upon arrival. The alcohol drinks are pretty watered down/weak. I won't even bother ordering one if them again. A friend recently ordered a salad and the lettuce was all brown and wilted. They refunded her but the fact that it was even sent out of the kitchen in that state is concerning. Since the meals haven't gone well, last time I ordered a popcorn. I asked for butter on it. It arrived cold (definitely old popcorn that sat around all day), it had no butter, and was super over the top salty. Another night they had run out of chicken, which took away about 70% of their menu options. So I will continue going to events and movies here, I'll just make sure I eat elsewhere beforehand. read more

The food here is horrible the only thing that has been ok at best is the Love Me Tenders and even that is hit or miss. Tonight the fries and tenders were way overcooked. The evening was dark brown and crunchy/rubbery. I keep trying things on the menu but pretty much everything is horrible. Burgers overcooked or just a greasy mess. Nachos that taste like rubber, aka cooked with chef Mic.(as in microwave) If you're a movie theater that serves food it shouldn't suck. Especially with how small some of the screens are and increasing ticket prices. The worst part is somehow the food in Nashua is pretty good. But, the Manchester location is awful. Food was absolutely terrible. Probably the worst burger I've ever had. Super dry and tasted like it was sitting back in the kitchen for a while. Which it probably was because I had to ask our server where our food was when the movie was almost over. She finally brought it out and everything was cold and stale. No utensils, no extra dressings that I had asked for. Had to search for our server again to get everything I asked for. The chairs they have are horrid too, all of them creek and make noises when you move. So the whole movie was just squeaking. Just terrible. I'll never be back. Attended a movie with four others. Movie started at 6:45. Despite our family being one of the first groups to be seated, we were almost dead last to have our order taken. Unfortunately, that was the high point of our experience. It was a circus from then on. We had no fewer than 3 different servers delivering food to our table - one meal at a time! Not only was the food delivered haphazardly, it was the wrong order repeatedly!! They actually delivered the same plate of buffalo chicken tenders FOUR TIMES!!!! My sister never got her meal until 8:00 pm ...... and it wasn't what she ordered. She ate it anyway because she was so hungry. I overall love Chunky's. I feel like the pandemic has hit them hard. I returned for the first time since January of last year to watch the Jungle Cruise with my son this month. It wasn't the experience I'm used to. The food is normally really good and has some creative options. Right now the menu is limited and execution is challenged. My son had the kids (frozen shape) chicken tenders, they were what he expected and he was satisfied. It's inexpensive. I ordered the nachos with pulled pork and they were very dry. The waitstaff was attentive, courteous, and effective. I'll keep checking in, it's a challenging time, the pandemic has hit everyone hard. I'm not going to try to be clever or have fun with this review, I'm just going to go straight to the point- the food is garbage. We moved to the area a little while ago and have been several times. My kid gets dino nuggets and fries. The nuggets are the same every time although sometimes they are out of fries, which is a planning problem. I always get the same thing, the caesar salad. My husband gets a bacon cheeseburger. These meals are markedly different every time; you can tell that they source ingredients from the cheapest distributor they can find and do not care about consistency or quality. All meals we have ordered aside from the kid's nuggets are different every time yet never served as described on the menu. I kept getting the salad because it was interesting to see what they gave me and a low stakes thing (it was mostly edible). Today I was hungry and adventurous so I ordered the turkey burger, which was supposed to have guacamole, lettuce, tomato and chipotle mayo. I was given a burger, made of something not even turkey-adjacent, with shredded lettuce and what looked and tasted like thousand island dressing on it. I returned it to the very busy and nice waiter (they are also saving money on staffing this place), apologized profusely, and thankfully did not pay for it. This was only the second time in my entire life that I sent back my food. I did not want a replacement meal. The whole draw of this place revolves around eating food in a movie theater in big seats and the food is terrible. They were short staffed at the time I made my order of a Buffalo chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries, so it's understandable that it took longer than expected, but the wait was worthwhile, and the movie I saw, Top Gun Maverick was worth every penny of admission.
