The tacos and quesadillas are solid and definitely worth trying, but I've been disappointed with the burritos and the pork al pastor. The carne asada burrito looked substantial at first, but it was overwhelmingly filled with plain white rice, which made it feel bland and not what I'd expect in terms of flavor or balance. The pork al pastor was even more disappointing. It didn't resemble traditional al pastor in taste or texture. It was overly sweet, lacked depth, and the pork itself was extremely dry, unfortunately dry enough to make it difficult to finish. There are still some good items on the menu, and the service keeps me open to giving them another try but based on my experience, I wouldn't describe the food overall as authentic or five-star quality.

My boys had quesadillas and loved them. My older boy said their asada burrito was better than Chipotle. We waited about 10min for our food to arrive. All of us had let our food cool a bit. We went at night, so the space was not as cute as in the day. Florescent lighting and was very cold because of all the windows everywhere, but I really liked the art on the wall of "make tacos, not walls." I was a little worried when I looked at the menu because there weren't many written vegetarian options (was gonna just get rice and beans), but was able to get a vegetarian quesadilla, so I assume that many of their options can be made veggie, if you ask. Food came out relatively quickly and they brought lots of salsa too, which was perfect because I almost always have to ask for more salsa at most places. The quesadilla was so good. The cheese they used was divine and so melty! Good combo of veggies in it too (peppers and onions and more that I can't remember right now oops). I also got the oreo cheesecake, which was DIVINE. I always forget how much I like cheesecake and this one was tastier than most. I loved the crunchy oreos too to add a little texture. Will definitely be coming again to try different things. Want to try their juices when it's a little warmer!

Lots of drink options and specials. Don't miss the soft serve margarita available this summer!! Menu items are hit or miss, which is where I suspect some of the lower ratings come from. Crunch wrap is a solid go-to. But the Crispy Mushroom taco is where it's at!! The griddled Nixta tortilla makes this meal what it is. Paired with roasted mushrooms and shredded cheese, and some additional accoutrements, you can't go wrong even if you're a carnivore. Check out this fun neighborhood staple!

But the worst part, here, humans are "customers". This is an increasingly powerful trend in restaurants. We are not people to talk to, there are no regulars. You order online. The restaurant performs a "service" as quickly and efficiently as reasonably possible. The actual service is terrible. Want a soda water? You will have to figure out how to order it because it's not on the menu so this is not possible. And of course it's loud because that moves "customers" through. Human interaction is inefficient. Welcome to being a component in a machine.

The truck doesn't seem to be out and about all that often and each time I've been lucky enough to try their birria it has been when they've been parked outside of Lake Monster Brewing. If the last time I visited was any indication, it appears that they're sticking to what they do best - birria. Gone were any options that didn't involve that beefy goodness, which is fine by me, as that's the only thing I'd be ordering. I can't speak to the birria burrito, but the tacos and quesabirria will remain my standby's as long as they're around.

I definitely don't feel right sitting inside a crowded restaurant yet, but strolling up to a food truck in a parking lot and chowing down on something tasty that's fresh off the grill, that is an activity I can very much get behind in July of 2020. I've had their tacos before and I knew I just wanted more of the same, so I ordered 3 tacos. And I asked for a fourth as well. Give me a break I was hungry and I hadn't eaten anything all day! They were delicious and I strongly suspect I'll stop by for more next time I see that they're back in St Paul. (They appear to divide their time between Pine City and St Paul.) A few caveats, though. One is that there were tomatoes on my tacos which I didn't want. The description doesn't mention them so I was unpleasantly surprised. Also I couldn't find anywhere for trash in the area. I'd expect them to supply that if there isn't anything around. And as they were parked outside The Lab's taproom, maybe they assumed we could get beverages in there, so they didn't appear to offer any. But The Lab's bar was only serving drinks to people on their patio. But despite all that, I know that I will be consciously craving these tacos again soon. I can't wait to return! Maybe a drive up to Pine City is in order...

They can usually be found somewhere on University Ave in St. Paul during the work week, though the location has varied lately. Last week I saw them by Bally's at University and Dunlap, in front of Sun Foods on University just east of Dale, and on University between Victoria and Lexington. The lady who owns the truck told me that they are planning on moving west of 280 in the near future, but they encourage calling ahead to find out where they are and to place an order for pickup. Now, for the best part - the food. The delicious, amazing food. Three styles of tacos (soft shell, Deep-fried American-style, and Border/Mexican style), burritos, tamales, quesadillas, three meats - choose from ground beef, chicken, or pork - and all available with rice and/or beans. The Border tacos are my absolute favorite. Two corn tortillas with meat, onion, and cilantro, and a lime to squeeze over the top. There is hot (red) sauce, or mild (green) sauce and, although I prefer the spicer hot sauce, the verde sauce goes really well with these tacos. I have recently started ordering the carnitas (pork), and it is outstanding - roasted, shredded, and perfectly seasoned. The food is a little more expensive than Taco Bell or Taco John's, but there is absolutely no comparison - this is real, authentic, homemade Mexican food, with real meat and fresh toppings, all made to order. I think I could eat these tacos everyday and never look at another fast-food taco again.
