I know this place gets a lot of glowing reviews, which is why I kept coming back to give it another shot, but I still don't really get the hype. It's not bad, but it's definitely not great either -- it kind of just exists in that middle ground where nothing stands out. The atmosphere is fun and lively, which is probably its biggest strength. It's a great place to meet up with friends. Service is decent, but the QR code ordering takes away from any real connection with staff, so the whole experience ends up feeling a bit impersonal. I've only had non-alcoholic drinks here, so I can't speak to the margaritas or cocktails that people rave about -- but the NA options I've tried have been fine, nothing particularly memorable. The food is where it really misses for me. Everything I've had has been pretty bland and forgettable. The green salsa was underwhelming, and the burritos I've tried have been barely seasoned -- not spicy, not bold, just kind of flat. I understand Minnesota tends to lean mild, but this felt less like "approachable" and more like the flavors just aren't there. This time I ordered the Lunch Crunch with birria, and it was honestly completely forgettable. Nothing tasted especially fresh or flavorful, and there wasn't a single bite that made me think, "I'd come back for this." The chips are fine, but that's about the most enthusiasm I can muster for the food. After three visits, I don't see myself choosing to come back.

My wife said I looked like was about to cry when a inch cup of carnitas fell out of my taco and bounced down to the floor. It's the only time I've ever considered grabbing food off the floor it was that delicious(I didn't grab it). Our recent visit my wife got the carnitas tacos, I got the torta and an order of the Rajas and for drinks were ordered the pineapple express margarita and the habanero cilantro margarita. We had 2 other couples with us and we all agreed everything was spectacular. Pictures are from our first visit. Our server was excellent, fast and fun and very knowledgeable about the menu.We are looking forward to our next visit.

The truck doesn't seem to be out and about all that often and each time I've been lucky enough to try their birria it has been when they've been parked outside of Lake Monster Brewing. If the last time I visited was any indication, it appears that they're sticking to what they do best - birria. Gone were any options that didn't involve that beefy goodness, which is fine by me, as that's the only thing I'd be ordering. I can't speak to the birria burrito, but the tacos and quesabirria will remain my standby's as long as they're around.

I definitely don't feel right sitting inside a crowded restaurant yet, but strolling up to a food truck in a parking lot and chowing down on something tasty that's fresh off the grill, that is an activity I can very much get behind in July of 2020. I've had their tacos before and I knew I just wanted more of the same, so I ordered 3 tacos. And I asked for a fourth as well. Give me a break I was hungry and I hadn't eaten anything all day! They were delicious and I strongly suspect I'll stop by for more next time I see that they're back in St Paul. (They appear to divide their time between Pine City and St Paul.) A few caveats, though. One is that there were tomatoes on my tacos which I didn't want. The description doesn't mention them so I was unpleasantly surprised. Also I couldn't find anywhere for trash in the area. I'd expect them to supply that if there isn't anything around. And as they were parked outside The Lab's taproom, maybe they assumed we could get beverages in there, so they didn't appear to offer any. But The Lab's bar was only serving drinks to people on their patio. But despite all that, I know that I will be consciously craving these tacos again soon. I can't wait to return! Maybe a drive up to Pine City is in order...

They can usually be found somewhere on University Ave in St. Paul during the work week, though the location has varied lately. Last week I saw them by Bally's at University and Dunlap, in front of Sun Foods on University just east of Dale, and on University between Victoria and Lexington. The lady who owns the truck told me that they are planning on moving west of 280 in the near future, but they encourage calling ahead to find out where they are and to place an order for pickup. Now, for the best part - the food. The delicious, amazing food. Three styles of tacos (soft shell, Deep-fried American-style, and Border/Mexican style), burritos, tamales, quesadillas, three meats - choose from ground beef, chicken, or pork - and all available with rice and/or beans. The Border tacos are my absolute favorite. Two corn tortillas with meat, onion, and cilantro, and a lime to squeeze over the top. There is hot (red) sauce, or mild (green) sauce and, although I prefer the spicer hot sauce, the verde sauce goes really well with these tacos. I have recently started ordering the carnitas (pork), and it is outstanding - roasted, shredded, and perfectly seasoned. The food is a little more expensive than Taco Bell or Taco John's, but there is absolutely no comparison - this is real, authentic, homemade Mexican food, with real meat and fresh toppings, all made to order. I think I could eat these tacos everyday and never look at another fast-food taco again.
