While I find Howard to be a "typical" Tom Lee employee (first patronised them through their Hong Kong store eons ago) -- like Howard, they are generally knowledgable, conscientious, customer committed and proud of the high-quality services that they provide. In the esoteric world of woodwind instrument maintenance and repair, however, Howard Lee stands out: I've encountered no one with higher standards, work ethic, and reliability, than Howard Lee -- a true musical repair artisan.

The lineup to simply pay for an item took 30 mins. Some advice to speed things up: No one wanders into a music store and spontaneously decides to rent an instrument. Most ppl will do research beforehand. Offer an incentive for ppl to fill out forms online or come WITH the paperwork already completed. If staff needs to walk costumers thru the process, have ppl book a time or charge an administration fee. When you've got customers with a product in hand, waiting to pay & leave, there is zero excuses to why they need to spend the next half hour listening to people fumble at filling out a simple form.

Extremely disappointed!…read more Called them January 24th about renting an instrument for 5th grade strings. They told me to come in to rent a violin and to try and bring my child with me since we needed to get the correct size. January 26, I bring my kid in. We arrived later than planned because I got lost (my bad) trying to find the store. We arrived at 4:45pm. Despite the store being empty, the guy there was apparently too busy to help us and handed us a paper to order online so it could be shipped to us. He didn't offer a sizing suggestion. I called back again yesterday afternoon because I realized strings starts next week and I wasn't sure if the shipped instrument would get here in time. The guy told me it would take a few days but they had some in stock. I told him I was confused because I was given a paper and told to have it shipped. He said they had multiple sizes in stock, including a size that should work for her given her age (10). We drove all the way back downtown again today and guess what - they don't have any in stock. What a joke and a waste of our time. Will not go to this store again.
