Just enough richness with a bit of texture to balance it all out. The space itself has that upbeat, playful vibe. The wall with the height markers measuring "how sweet you are" made us laugh, and the place overall felt clean, cozy, and looked well cared for. The only letdown was the service. We got seated quickly, but it took way too long for anyone to acknowledge us after that. Despite making several very clear eye contacts with multiple staff, no one came over until I actually had to raise my hand high to flag someone down. Not a great feeling. Strangely enough, asking for the bill was the fastest response we got all night. I really wanted to love this place more. The dessert itself was great, the atmosphere was fun, but it's hard to enjoy it fully when the basic hospitality part is missing. That's what brought the whole experience down a few notches.

Their Honeycrisp variety of apple is sublime. It is a crunchy, sweet but slightly tart eating apple. We go through 10 pound bags like crazy. Their apple supply dwindles around November to early December. You can also pick up frozen blueberry and apple pies made by Mrs. Fraser. They produce cider and are showcasing a new carbonated rhubarb and strawberry fizzy drink. Our farmers deserve our thanks and praise.

My bf and I walked right in, luckily there was no one else in there. I opted to try 6 of the mini cupcakes and a chocolate chip cookie and my bf got a regular size cupcake. He got the special of the week, which was the jelly or jam filled cupcake with a donut on top! The 6 minis I got were 2 vanilla, 1 red velvet, 1 dulce de leche and 2 of the jelly filled. I tried a vanilla first and could tell it had a certain taste or texture to it. It was familiar. I thought it was just their recipe. It was okay and actually I really liked how you could see specks of the vanilla bean in the cupcake. The dulce de leche just tasted like the vanilla lol. I guess because it's so small, you barely get to taste the caramel and it's essentially the same vanilla cake. Red velvet was also just ok but the star was really the jelly filled donut. The jelly just added a different texture and flavour that was very much needed. The chocolate chip cookie I actually had 2 days after I purchased it. I checked before warming it and it was still soft. I warmed it for 10 seconds and the centre became soft and chips gooey. Mmmmm. It was really good and something I would get again. Again, it had a familiar taste and I wondered if maybe they were using almond flour because this wasn't regular flour. So when I looked it up and discovered that all their products were gluten free, it all made sense. I've consumed a ton of gluten free baked goods and the ah ha moment was when I realized that grainy texture. I love when you can't tell a product is gluten free. If you've never had anything gluten free before, you probably won't be able to notice a diff. I'm very interested in their other products such as their cinnamon buns, so I'm defs going to stop by again, the next time I'm in town.

We wanted to do something that felt a bit more COVID-friendly for my sons's birthday, so we opted for cupcakes instead of cake. I hadn't planned much in advance, so I depended on buying whatever they had available. When I arrived they had: raspberry, lemon, vanilla, chocolate, red velvet and strawberry. We got all but strawberry and then brought it to the event. First, they looked terrific, but most importantly, the taste was great. The cake part of the cupcakes did their job, but icing is what defines and makes (or breaks) a good cupcake. If there was a downside, the icing is clearly such good quality and made from real cream as it started to melt as we had it outside (but shaded) for about 45 minutes before service. No fault on their end of course, and just speaks to the higher quality. They really nailed having it just sweet enough without being too sweet, and with all the intended flavours coming out and being the star. For example, the lemon was apparent and had to have been made with real lemon rather than entirely on an extract. I suspect the same about the raspberries - or at the very least they have a more natural mix for it as well. My wife said the red velvet was the best she'd ever had. We served about 10 people and everyone raved about them and many asked for the company info. You pay a little more than other places, but the value is worth it at the first bite. They also do other items such as macaroons, cookies and cakes. I'm not sure whether they have ready-made cakes as I didn't see any when I visited, but from their website they make some pretty gorgeous, IG-worthy ones. So probably order in advance for those.

It was just listed as "tropical". I was sent on trying it anyways, so I yolo'ed the drinks. There was some sort of topping on it but I'm not sure what it was. My friend remarked that it looked like Cornflakes lol. I really liked Gojo's Limitless drink because it was essentially a coconut smoothie. The other goodies you got with each purpose was a matching cups sleeve and sticker, and a little straw accessory. Both of the drinks were $9 so it was a total of $18. The drinks also weren't a large size so definitely on the pricier side. Still, worth a trip to check out the collab.

We placed our orders and they were brought out in a timely manner. My kids picked the 2 dishes - Matchamatics (with matcha white chocolate ice cream) and Bisco Fever (honey vanilla ice cream with Lotus Biscoff sauce and cookie crumble). The titles of the dishes are clever. You pick the ice cream and toppings combo, then you choose the base - waffle, crepes, liege waffle and croffle. We choose one with Belgium waffle (nothing special) and the other with liege waffle (made with brioche dough, this was better than the Belgium waffle and the dough was nice and chewy). Each dish came with a single huge scoop of ice cream. The best part were the cookie dough like pieces on the dish, I think they call these blondies. Everything was just way too sweet. We kept on drinking water to wash down the sweetest. At $23.75 each, I would've much prefer going out for dinner. Even my kids complained that it was too sweet! Anyway, it's been years since I've been to Demetres, and after this experience, I doubt if we'll ever return.
