Updated review, four years later! I am so glad and thankful Chuck's Oriental Palace is still open amongst all of the crazy events in the world, over the past four years. The Special Combination plates price has only increased by $1.00, which you honestly can't beat for the price. At $8.95 you get your entree, steamed white rice, and then the options of Fried Rice or Chow Mein, Egg Roll or Wonton, and Soup or Iced Tea. The portion-to-price ratio is tremendous and are unheard of in today's times. Some of the Special Combination entrees rotate every other day, but our favorites are the rotating Kung Pao Chicken (served Sun, Mon, Wed, Fri) and Hot and Spicy Chicken (served Tues, Thurs, Sat) and staple-ideas General Chicken or Sweet & Sour Chicken. The fried rice has much improved, it tastes on par with Kobe Steakhouse fried rice. I always order the wontons, and end up eating them on my ride home. The egg drop soup still isn't my favorite, but the unsweetened iced tea is always refreshing. Chuck's no longer offers a dine in option, but is the type of food you just want to sit at home and pig-out to anyways. service was prompt and polite. no apace to dine in so takeout only at this time. the fried items i causing egg roll and shrimp wontons were pleasant. sweet and sour pork was made well but lacking in flavor for the sauce. fried rice was good. Mongolian beef was lacking in flavor. not enough suger and not enough soy sauce. they did ask about spice level however this rendition did not provide me the crunchy chewy beef but instead too tender and lacked flavor of sauce. also was very lacking green onions. all in all good place but may have been the late hour getting the last of the dishes. read more

Chuck was a great host; charming and funny. He seems to be single handily keeping the Asian cuisine business alive in Great Falls. Whenever I try a new Asian restaurant out I always go for the basic. So I ordered chicken lo mein and house fried rice. If they can't get that right, they can't get anything right (in my opinion). He said they didn't have lo mein but they had chow mein. I told him I wanted the soft noodle and he said that's what they had. Anyhow. The noodles were not what I had hoped for. They were short, white and lacking sauce. The rice was mushy and had too much soy sauce. I want to give him another chance but I just don't think I'll be satisfied. read more

The portions are great , the chicken balls were perfectly battered with large portions of chicken, the egg foo young was cooked perfectly, the chicken fried rice was some of the best I've ever had with generous portions of chicken, the chow mein was amazing and the egg rolls were so flavourful. Not horrible not amazing but satisfying. We got it delivered to our hotel. They said 45-60 mins and they came in probably 30 which was great. We ordered the combos with sweet and sour chicken and general chicken and we each got chicken fried rice, wontons, and soup. The portions were weird. There was a handful of chicken and a ton of fried rice and apparently everything comes with steamed rice so there was really a lot of rice. The chicken was real (not nuggets), juicy, and tender. There was a pretty thick layer of breading on the sweet and sour chicken. The sauces were delicious, especially the sweet and sour. The soup was completely bland and just bad. The rice was also pretty bland. We added a bunch of soy sauce which made it much better. The wontons were not what we expected. We thought they were going to be cream cheese wontons but they were pork(we think). I liked them a lot but my husband was not a fan. Overall I think I'd come back if I'm ever craving Chinese and am in the area. It wasn't bad and very filling and satisfying. read more

Stopped here today and was very impressed! The food is priced right and it's fresh! Combo meals are just $6.95. You get an entree and white rice. Then...you get chicken chow mein or fried rice. Then...you get a choice of an egg roll or wontons. Then...you get a choice of soup or a drink! The egg rolls are not your run of the mill frozen crap. They have a spring roll wrapper and inside is fresh cabbage and white chicken strips. The chow mein is fabulous. White noodles with thinly sliced carrots and lots of cabbage. None of the veggies were soggy. They were all lightly stir fried. The chicken was tender and obviously hand cut. Best yet? My husband and i each had combos and he got an extra drink and the bill was just under 16 dollars. We even had leftover to take home! Did i mention the food is all fresh??? Next time you find yourself paying 25 bucks to eat someplace else where the food sits in trays and gets scooped out hours later....remember you could have had real food at Chucks. read more

Chow mien served with rice, fried rice are mix with white rice. Sweat and sour chicken are cooked with too much dough to the point it was hard. Pretty sad since the owner is Chinese but the food doesn't taste like it. read more

I probably should of went win my gut instinct when I saw it was connected to a casino, but its Montana half the restaurants here have one. Ordered the basic general chicken combo to go, you really can't mess that up. But they didn't make it impressive either. The chicken fried rice, had no chicken in it, not to mention that half the rice was steamed. The sauce on the general chicken was alright, but when you only put five pieces of chicken in the to go box it's not a real filling meal. They only offer wonton soup with the combo, no hot and sour soup. No duck sauce for the egg roll either. Overall a disappointing dining experience. read more

We arrived to the Great Falls on Labor day.Everything was closed.So didn't have a choice.The only restaurant that was open was Chuck's Oriental Palace.Waited for an hour for delivery. Food was hot.Won Ton Soup- no flavor,funny taste.Sweet and Sour shrimps- I've never seen such huge lumps of dough and a little shrimp in it, so I tasted most of the dough.Just few of it made the box full. Beef Chow Mein -tasteless at all.Even I added some soy sauce ,it didn't help. Didn't enjoy food,just needed to fill up our stomach after the long trip.Waste of money. read more

OK Chinese. This location used to be called Mark Pi's express. Now under new ownership, I feel that the quality is about the same. I had the general's chicken with the steamed rice and a chicken egg roll (they were sold out of the beef). I went in and ordered to go. They said it would be ready in about 10 mins, so I went to the obligatory attached casino to blow a few dollars. The casino was a shady smoking area where the customers just didn't seem right. Anyway, I go back to the restaurant and get my to go order. They didn't put napkins or utensils in the bag so I had to go request them. The general's chicken was smothered in sauce. I usually like the sauce, but this was way too much. I get to the bottom of the to go container and I think that I see some used wrapper shoved in there. It turned out to be lettuce packed at the bottom. Now, I don't think lettuce really belongs there, so I'm thinking the lettuce is down there to prevent any leakage of the container? Overall, this dish was so-so. I've been to other chinese restaurants in town that totally turned my stomach sour. If you are really craving chinese food, I guess this is the best that I've tried in town. read more

My husband and I were staying in great falls. We saw they delivered. We should have known with "oriental" in the name. It is a slang/offensive term. Our food was super expenmsive and over done. We ordered takeout. The man that took the call was very pleasant and nice. The food was hot when we got it home. The BBQ pork was really good as were the potstickers. However, the pork fried rice was too salty and not so good. The shrimp chow mein was terrible. The veggies ( which I asked about) consisted of cabbage and shredded carrots and over cooked noodles. I couldn't eat it. One bite was enough. Will we go back? No. I would rather have a smaller portion of good food instead of mediocre large portions. Making cheap food is not for this lady. Craving Chinese food...and since everything is to go because of Covid, we decided to give this place a try. We ordered two of the combos...#1 Was Kung Pao Chicken, Fried Rice, Soup and an egg roll. Order #2 was Sweet and Sour Pork, Chow Mein, Won-Ton and soup. The soup was very good and piping hot. Both plates seemed super heavy in the containers, lots of steamed rice, and I mean lots. The dish was mostly steamed rice and fried rice. Very small servings of the Kung Pao. The vegetable and the chicken were cut in very large pieces. I prefer chopped so you can get a bit of everything in one bite. And hardly any peanuts in the meal. Order #2 had only 5 pieces of the sweet and sour pork. Very little sweet and sour sauce and the chow mien was fresh but tasteless. Also we thought the wontons would be filled with cream cheese but it was some sort of meat mixture. Food arrived quickly and hot. Employees very nice and considerate. Soup: Chinese Vegie Noodle is flavorful but lacking variety in vegies, used spaghetti instead of Chinese noodles. Pork dumpling soup: very flavorful, vegies cooked to perfection, crispy not soggy, dumplings delicious. Pork fried rice: bland, little pork. Stir fried vegies: Pretty good, again not enough variety in vegies, no water chestnuts or bean sprouts. Pineapple Beef: bland, plenty of beef and pineapple. My wife and I have driven by this place for years, but on a whim we stopped in for lunch today. The first thing I liked was that it is NOT a buffet. I had Potstickers, which were excellent, not greasy like most places you go, and they had ample filling that actually tasted good, not like the tasteless mush you get other places. I also had the hot and sour soup, which was excellent for the price. I will definitely be back. Visiting our son from Colorado. He has always said that he has been thinking about trying this place. So we decided to try it with him. We ordered take out. While ordering, we got Hot and Sour soup. They asked how spicy and I replied hot. Apparently that is not an option. Only mild, medium, and very spicy. (I don 't think they understand the word hot.) When I get there 20 minutes later to pick up the food, the same girl I ordered from asks me how spicy I want the Szechuan Pork. Well I wasn't happy that they were just starting to make the meal, especially since NOBODY was in the place (understandably). Of course I said hot and that was not an option - very spicy. I almost walked out but did not want to let my son down (can I rethink my past choices?). So when the food comes out I ask if there is mustard and duck sauce in the bag for the eggrolls. The girl looks at me like I have lobster sauce coming out of my ears. They did not know what the mustard was. So I tried hot mustard (they don't understand the word hot). Finally I ask for Chinese mustard and they figured it out. It took about 3-4 minutes for them to find it and brought out a plastic cup with a top over it. When I got home it tasted like they just mixed up some mustard power up with some water. Overall the food was not good. The hot and sour soup was the strangest I have ever tasted. The Won Ton Soup had vegetables the size of my fist and the 1-2 won tons were mushed in the bottom. The eggrolls tasted like they had been frozen. I will not return to Chuck's Palace. I should know better than try Chinese food in Great Falls. read more
