On September 27, 2018 at approximately 1315 hours, Tom H. and I, Dante G., responded to Chuck E. Cheese located at 7258 Rivers Avenue, which is in the jurisdiction of the city of North Charleston, in reference to a gaming machine complaint. We were accompanied by two confidential, reliable informants (ID #8 AND #2). We entered the door located on the A-side of the building, near the D-A corner. We were met by an unknown female black who administered initial security measures. She then permitted us to contact an unknown female white who completed security measure application and provided us our cups and plates. The first thing I notice about the generally L-shaped dining area was the light haze. The first female that we had met had moved over to the cotton candy machine and was currently covered in pink, sugary filaments and it was that machine that was causing the haze. Has the sugar level lowers, the machine, and the heat it produces, apparently causes the sugar to essentially burn off. This also filled the interior with the intoxicating smell of cotton candy. We moved to a location about midway through the restaurant, near the restrooms. We secured a booth then made our way to the buffet. There were three choices. Cheese, pepperoni, and sausage. Tom H. had also chosen a couple of other options to be made and provided. As I returned to the booth after securing my first helping from the buffet, announcement was made that we were mere minutes away from a live show buy Chuck-E-Cheese. The pizza who's tolerable. There was a butter treatment to the cross, the cheese was melted but cold, as one would expect from a buffet. Overall, the food was definitely worth the $7. The first live "show" did not include anything live. It was televised, which was a slight disappointment. At the conclusion of that show, however we were advised that we were now 6 minutes away from a live show. 6 minutes later, I was not disappointed. Chuck-E-Cheese himself made an appearance. This is when the real disturbance began. There was a handful of children in the business, and they all lost their shit. Mr. Cheese was clad in a purple shirt with a yellow "C" on the front, a green undershirt, denim pants, and red Converse "Chucks". Mr. Cheese moved to the front of the business where he engaged the children in light calisthenics, also known as dancing. There was also an event called "Ticket Splash". This seems to be an event in which children are rewarded for interacting with a large furry. CRI 8 was rewarded handsomely for her participation. The CRI's then used the numerous gaming machines, which appeared to be properly licensed through the Department of Revenue. After a considerable amount of time and another live show, the CRI's utilized the "Ticket Muncher" to document their winnings for later exchange for any of the numerous prizes available including, but not limited to, a Mario or Luigi plush doll, a small soccer ball, and Tootsie Rolls. We come here quite frequently due to my dad paying for the monthly deal with certain number of credits a day and discounts on food. My kids love it, but it definitely needs some improvement. There are several games that are CONSISTENTLY broken. Like every time we have gone in the last 6 months the same ones don't work. There is never a sign on them so the kids don't realize its broken until they have swiped their card. Sometimes I notice a error message on the game, but excited kids never look for that. I have definitely heard some of the teen workers on the floor dropping F bombs in earshot of several kids. The pizza is usually pretty good, I have to give them credit for that. read more

Took my freshly 3 year old and a couple of Fridays on a Friday am when it opened. Relatively quiet. Lady at check in was very sweet and informative (this was the first visit for all of us). The toddlers just toddled around and played the game cards (we did points as we were advised it would be smarter for their age). Easy. Simple. Kiddos enjoyed it. We took our daughter here for lunch. The employees were polite. It appeared to be clean inside but it was not busy when we went. It was a bit pricey for a total of 3 of us but we went for the experience since it was our daughter's first time going to a Chuck E. Cheese. She did have a good time playing games and riding the kids rides. The pizza and bread sticks were average for a place like this. Also, some of the games did not work. I did like how they stamp utilize the stamping your hand system. They stamp everyone in your families hand with a unique stamp upon arrival and then check all stamps when leaving to ensure you are not taking anyones kid. However, I am not sure how well it works but it is an added protection for your kids. Although this place was average we would take our daughter here again. Meh......wasn't the best experience we've had or the worst. The new look was pretty nice. Def a lot more space to move around. We were a little put off by Chuck E. He literally came out, did the most pitiful dancing I've ever seen and left. Even though they announced that he was coming out and to head to the back, he wouldn't interact with the kids at all. I felt so bad for the little kids trying to give high fives and hugs. Chuck E kept backing away like they all had cooties or something. It was very cringeworthy. Anyways the rest of the staff were ok. Helped us when needed. A lot of the machines didn't work but I guess there were plenty of others that did to make up for that so no big deal. Chuck E Cheese is a great place to take kids to have fun. You see nothing but smiles on the kids faces when you walk in! We went on Saturday and man was it PACKED! Tons of kids everywhere. You have to be careful with the little ones because there are big kids that will push them aside to play their game! We struck a deal and got two pizzas, four drinks and two play passes with 100 points for about $50. They offer a military rate. The pizza was surprisingly good! I was impressed to say the least. It comes out hot and fresh and considering the amount of people there, the wait wasn't bad. I was stuck at the table watching tickets (the kids just ran up and pretty much threw the tickets on the table and ran away lol), jackets and pizzas for most of the day so I didn't get to experience much of the games. But I can tell you the Chuck E Cheese song will haunt me in my dreams for many nights to come.... Anyways, the kids had a great time and the adults did too. Our visit here was fantastic! Shauntae was at the front desk and was so helpful and sweet to the little girl I was nannying! Great person to have in the front to welcome all the kids and guests! Not the best place around. We took our 2 year old granddaughter on a Sunday night about 6 pm, expecting a relatively empty place. It was pretty slammed with a birthday party in progress. Pizza prices were average- but the salad bar, boneless wings and mozzarella sticks were DOUBLE the price of most restaurants. Gone are the days where you get the prized "tokens" to play- and no mascots every 30 minutes. Chuckee made one appearance only and that was just at the party section. My main concern- there was absolutely NO lights in the parking lot- safety is a big issue. All lights were off. When I inquired about it at check in and at the food counter, both employees said they had been off for weeks and didn't know when they would be working. read more

I've been here a few times, but this was the first time I have been since they renovated. Wow what a difference! Everything is so modern now and they use e-tickets so you don't have to lug around your kids paper tickets anymore. The pizza was really tasty and they even now have armed security to protect the kids. The manager was awesome and took time to learn all the kids names that participated in the costume contest. Another kid's b'day, another trip to hell. Every time we come here, the Search For The Clean Table happens. You play Scoot and Jump while trying to dodge screaming kids running balls-to-the-wall with no regard to such inconveniences as other people. This time there was an added twist; the entire back half of the restaurant by the stage was actually free instead of being reserved for parties. The 10 of us parked, divided up the cards, and the kids went to play. Our pizzas came out followed by an employee yelling that we needed to move because after the party left, that area was closing so he could clean it before he left and he didn't know how long we were going to be there or how messy we were going to be. We were taken to 3 other tables until the guy carrying our pizzas was told we could sit there because it was out of hospital area. Of course, all 10 of us were squeezed into 2 tables - as usual. We talked to a manager and the situation was handled, but it was irritating... 3 of us tried going to the women's restroom at different times and they were a disaster. 2 stalls had pee and toilet paper all over, and the 3rd had poopy toilet paper on the floor. Its Chuck-E-Cheese. I think their motto is "Because you can't introduce uber poor quality junk food and gambling to a child too early!" When your kids want to go, you'll take them. The pizza is crappy, the game room is crowded and noisy (which is part of its charm), your kid will blow through $20 in game tokens in about 15 minutes trying to win prize tickets, which they then spend what feels like 3 hours trying to decide between ONE extremely crappy piece of plastic "toy" or a lollipop ring to use said 10,000 tickets on. So you know how I feel about Chuck-E-Cheese now, but I still come here several times a years, because my 7 year old loves the place, and sometimes you just gotta treat your kids to what they want. read more

The machines and facilities were clean. My daughter had her 9th or 10th birthday party here. She's now 13. The important thing is the kids had fun, but my daughter and I had an unnecessarily rude moment with the 'manager'. I have never eaten at one of these places, but have been a few times. I was working, so I showed up after everyone else. When I arrived, it appeared to me that there was a younger girl serving our table. I saw her bringing pizza and drinks for those at the table who got there before me. So, I figured I would go up to the salad bar, make a salad, then tell our 'server' to add the salad to my tab and I would pay for it. My daughter said she wanted a salad also, so she and I went and started making our salads. As we were making our salads, an attendant noticed and asked if we had payed for our salads, and I said that I was going to tell our server to add it to our bill. I guess she told the 'manager'. He showed up asking the same question and I gave him the same response. He snatched the salads from our hands and said we had to pay in advance like everyone else. Like I said, I had never before eaten at one of these places, only played the games. I didn't know you payed for food when you entered the place. As I earlier said, HE SNATCHED THE PLATE OF FOOD FROM MY TEN YEAR OLD DAUGHTER'S HAND, as well as mine. He told me to go pay for them then he'd give them back. I let my daughter play a few more games and we left. Of all the decent ways that 'manager' could have handled that situation, he chose to be a complete prick. Right after I click "submit" on this review, I'm mailing my parents a medal of honor for taking me to Chuck E Cheese's as a child. My wife and I returned from our first trip to one of these establishments in over 25 years. We had to take a nap - sensory overload for us... not the kids. Of course, the N. Chuck version of this famed childhood romp wasn't quite what I remembered. Seemed a bit smaller (doesn't it always?) and it was a madhouse. Like putting a bunch of cats in a bag and shaking it... except that instead of cats it's 5 year-olds and parents that look like deer caught in the headlights. But instead of shaking the bag, you're putting it... - on a tilt a whirl - and then on that big pirate ship that goes upside down - and then sticking it in a barrel and rolling it down a hill There were the 2009 adjustments such as the security checkpoint at the door with armbands on everyone like I'm hitting a hot downtown nightclub. Guess it's a necessity these days so all for ensuring a little safety. All kidding aside though, my kid who was invited to the party had a blast. Kudos to the staff who seemed like they were having a good time entertaining the children. It was also a treat to revisit simple things like the animatronic animals springing into action, much to the horror.. then bewilderment... then amusement of the little kids. Sure, every kid as a Wii or PS-whatever in their house (just as much for their 30-something dad as for the young ones) but the kids were having a blast with whatever was put in front of them. Whether it was 25 year old versions of Dragon's Lair and Root Beer Tapper (awesome), or one of the newest games. The pizza was okay, but who really goes there for the pizza? Chuck e Cheese exists to let kids be kids and for the owners to hope and pray the Fire Marshall doesn't show up for a head-count. We enjoyed it - my little one was just old enough to go up the slide by herself and she got a huge kick out of feeling like one of the big kids. Yelpers advising not to go here on the weekends are spot on. This place becomes wild and overcrowded fast. It's best to stick to the weekdays if at all possible. If you can go earlier in the day even better. Around lunch time it's nice and quiet. The pace is slow and your kids will pretty much have free reign of what they want to do. The pizza isn't bad at all, so it's safe to chow down here while the kids play. All in all, it's your basic Chuck E Cheese's. There's a nice assortment of arcade style games, a play place, and a toddler zone. Plenty of stuff for kids to burn some energy out. I've gone on several occasions where many of the games were down. This becomes more annoying when they're slow to mark them as "out of order" and you waste tokens on several different things with no associate in sight to remedy the situation. Just avoid weekends if you value your sanity. You'll leave drained and in need of hard liquor if you make so bold an adventure. read more

Very scary. A large rodent who's apparently named Charles "Chucky" Entertainment Cheese was running rampant around the restaurant. The children in the establishment seemed to love him as he scattered pieces of paper called "tickets" at their feet. I don't know why they let this large rat run around an establishment with food but it seemed to be ok with everyone else so I won't question it. The worst part of all, the rat stole my wife from me and she took the kids with her. They didn't even keep my last name either, they changed it to Cheese. Arrived right when they opened for a birthday party. We were greeted and stamped. I was happy to find that the place smelled clean like they had recently done some cleaning. I know There's a stigma about it being a dirty place. I liked that there were areas for smaller kids to play and then areas for bigger kids. The unlimited 2 hour play is a good deal for parties. This was my first time at this location and probably my last. Took the kiddos because my son has been begging to go for weeks. It was not very crowded when we arrived but that quickly changed. On a positive note we were helped right away, played some games while we waited for pizza, which arrived fairly quick. Soon I noted as we made our way around to different games that there was trash and people's leftovers covering every table, I even saw a dirty diaper abandoned on a table. I suddenly felt very dirty and told the kids we needed to go use the hand sanitizer--empty. So we went in the bathroom to wash our hands and the stench of old urine was so strong I could barely stand it. Many of the games were not in working order or out of tickets... when we were getting ready to leave and get our "prizes" we stood there for about 10 minutes until I finally found someone to assist us. I've been to this location several times for the kids, only for the kids. I understand there have been more upgrades and I can't complain. There have been good improvements to this location. The pizza is much better, actually tasty with a crisp (not hard) bottom. The salad bar was better maintained. Most of the games worked. The kids like the Fun House...go figure. The staff were patient and helpful. Love the door control feature. The bathrooms still need some work. The wifi worked well. This was my first time in Chucky cheese since I was about 8 yrs old it's been 27 yrs and I was remenicsing about thier pizza wondering what it had tasted like after all these years. So a friend and I stopped in to check it out. When I went inside it obviously was very packed and it appeared as though you needed reservation but then they let us go inside without a reservation. We order the pepperoni and cheese pizza but it was not the same taste as I remembered perhaps the reason was because I was a kid the lastime I was in a Chucky Cheese. Lol..The good news is the order didn't take very long it was approximately 15 mins considering how packed it was.. I didn't play any games in there I just came for the pizza. I don't know when the nextime I might come back but who knows maybe if I take my nephew but at least now I can say I've reunited with there pizza once again. read more

Cheap and easy place to take your kids. Ive been suckered into taking my niece and nephew every time I'm in town for a visit and they seem to love the place. The games couldnt be more rigged but hey a kid wouldn't know any better right? Most games work ok while others love to digest your coin without giving you the opportunity to enjoy the quick entertainment it offers.
