It's not for the faint of heart or anyone that's afraid of birds, lol. This is a fun place to visit with kids or anyone who appreciates birds and marine life. Beware: in the summer, there's a lot of walking outdoors and it can get quite hot. Make sure you wear your sunscreen and bring a neck fan!

The dolphin/sea lion show was pretty good, I would just appreciate maybe a screen with whatever the speaker was saying, it was hard to hear in that room with the echo. They have sections for birthday parties and several tables. There were quite a few parties taking place during our visit. The obstacle course is fun but when you're older, it's a lot harder to get out of the foam pit then it looks lol! The trapeze was a lot of fun and provides a soft landing. I took a star off of this rating merely because of cleanliness. It didn't take away from the purpose of our visit, which was to have fun. You can tell that the staff are educated and care very much about the animals. It is all very clean and well-kept. It took us about 2 hours to sidle through and look at everything. It's a good outing for an afternoon. Part of the facility is outdoors, with exhibits for the beavers (They have beavers!! So cute!!), the dolphins, the otters, and the local gators and wildlife. They have a penguin exhibit that is in the works and coming soon. The rest is indoors in a nice building. You go up to the top floor and work your way down through the various exhibits and tanks. A big part is outside, so you should check the weather before you go and be prepared to deal with whatever. There is a public parking garage right next door, but we parked across the highway at Jones Park and walked over to the aquarium. There is a nice pedestrian skybridge over the highway that makes it easy and safe.

So we stood at the counter, made eye contact a few times, asked if we ordered there and the was told mmmhm. Then he went back to making pizza ignoring us. I finally get his attention and get our order in( which was like pulling teeth with no help or direction from anyone working there) . Pay and head over to the cafe to get the rest of the food. That place was equally confusing. No idea what we were doing with zero help from the workers there. Now I'm not blaming these kids. Because they were all working and learning. I blame management because they ( by they I mean every single worker in all 3 food areas we went to) were obviously not trained well and thrown out there. They looked worn out and frazzled. My kids noticed playlive nation and we stopped in to check it out. The manager was really friendly and explained how the pricing worked, explained the drop and shop system, and also asked us if there were any games that our kids weren't allowed to play. That's important to us. They had 30+ games for my kids to choose from- basically every game my kids asked for, they had. I bought an hour of play time for each kid and I enjoyed some quiet shopping time. If you pay for an hour and only use 30 minutes, your remaining minutes will be on your account for next time. It works like rollover minutes for your cell phone. The total cost was less than I pay for a babysitter and much cheaper than an hour at a typical arcade.

Getting here was easy, the museum takes up several buildings, so there is plenty of parking. This place is freaking amazing. The employees are very friendly and more than happy to share information about the trains and the city in general. Though they were all about the cruise in that was going on, and I am not into large groups of people. There are model trains with whole cities around them, mock ups of famous buildings, large stores, all made from Legos and similar materials. There is a Jurassic Park, gnomes, dinosaurs and oh so much more. If you are in the area, I highly recommend a stop in here to spend a few hours, especially if you have small humans with you.
