Don't go if you are hungry because you will sit there and wait for an hour even there were only 4 tables and not busy. It never fails, we keep giving them second chance and it is just not worth the wait. This happens every time! We entered the premise at 8pm on a Saturday, waited for an hour for two sandwiches. Great tenderloins! Amazing Tuesday price and cheap draft beer! Fun for the whole family!

I have had the Tuesday tenderloin sandwich special for years. It is now $4.95 and comes with no sides. Face book site says $4,00. which is wrong. It is much smaller, than past, I would say at most 2/3 size of previous sandwich. But ...for price ....ok. But.....my sandwich had very tine piece of lettuce....and very small amount of onion...which would be very inexpensive to include bit more. If you want mayo...which typically comes with a breaded tenderloin in any restaurant..... you have to pay ....i think....$1 extra, but does include thin tomato slice. I was not given any silverware or napkin by server, I had to ask...but she was very friendly and apologetic. There should not be an extra charge for mayo. I had a similar incident of mayo. Several year ago at chubbies...where had fish dinner...but was told extra charge for mayo...who charges extra for mayo on a dinner? Bottom line.....still reasonable value...for lunch...but no longer giant tenderloin. And....should come with mayo. read more

Terrible service. I came with my family and started bowling. We ordered drinks and got myself a pitcher. I waited a good 30 minutes and then I had to remind my server and when I mentioned it she was lost and had completely forgot what I ordered. Along with the drinks we got an order of wings and fries. We finished bowling and still hadn't received our food while people around us ordered after we did and still managed to receive their food before us. There's many good spots and this just isnt one of them. I don't recommend this place at all. read more

Wow, this place needs an attitude adjustment! Every single waitress was unfriendly and acted like they didn't want to be here. Zero smiles and no friendly greeting. The bartender was obviously pissed at someone, she had a scowl on her face through the whole service! Calling in to order food requires a little patience, due to the bowling alley and bar noise in the background. We were told that the pizzas at Chubbies are hand made and delicious. The pizza is 16", the crust was chewy, foldable, with plenty of sausage,mushrooms and green peppers. Needless to say we loved the pizza and will be ordering more. I usually enjoy chubbies. Not today. Sever never checked on me, never filled my water, and about had to hog tie her to get a box.

We've eaten here often when we're in town. I wanted to update my review due to the service we just received while there. When we got there, the place wasn't very busy, maybe 4 out of 20 tables were occupied in the front room. We sat and our server came over immediately with menus and said she would return to take drink orders. 5 minutes later she was back. We gave her our drink orders and 5 minutes later she was back with the drinks. She took our food orders. The place started filling up as it was after noon and the summer lake crowd is in town. While we were waiting on our food, she checked in with us three times to make sure we were good, the third time telling us our order would be up next. The food came and while we were eating she checked in with us 3 times to see if we needed anything else. The place was filled up with every table occupied. I started watching her and she was providing the same service to all of her tables. When she came with the bill, I asked her her name and she said Lex. I'm not sure I'm spelling it correctly. I want to give Lex kudos for the great service we (and every table) received. It's rare these days to have such personal service being provided in a restaurant. This is a local restaurant inside of a bowling alley. Great atmosphere with outstanding service. We have been getting the roadside bbq for over a year. This is the first time eating inside. We ordered the homemade dill pickle chips and gizzards. I ordered the homemade hand breaded pork tenderloin and my wife ordered a mushroom Swiss burger. Oh my gosh the gizzards are sweet and tender. Great! The pickle chips are thick and have a super light breading just awesome!! The pork tenderloin should be on the Indiana Tenderloin Trail. It is just perfect. Pounded out thin but not too thin. Light breading with balanced seasoning. I would recommend it. My wife's mushroom and Swiss burger was juicy and seasoned well with a pepper as the main flavor. Every time I go here I'm surprised by how good the food is for the price. Went in today for the wings. Decided to get the bbq ribs, smoker potatoes and mac and cheese for $9.99 and added a few of the wings for .49 cents.. could hardly finish the rib platter so I'm taking home wings for later. They have they're own smoker so these ribs are KILLER... sauce is also delicious. Potatoes and mac and cheese all on the smoker. Very good dinner for $10.. I've never had something bad from here. I have previously rated Chubbie's a 5 as a great neighborhood bar food joint. But tonight, Friday night, my wife and I went for the AYCE fish special which we have had in the past. Fish was good, but....I was charged 50 cents for tartar sauce, and my wife 50 cents for cocktail sauce. I have never, after maybe hundreds of fish dinners been charged for the sauce. When I got the bill I asked the waitress if they were charging for the sauce, she said yes. Only $1, but I was surprised with the charge. If they charge for it, they should tell you up front as I think everyone....everyone...would expect it to be included. After I paid the bill I asked for the manager, who I was told was out. I then went to the bartender and told her I was surprised with the charge. She asked who the waitress was, and told me...and her that they don't charge for either sauce with the AYCE dinner. I told her I had already paid the bill, she did not offer to refund the $1 overcharge which she admitted. I would have taken $1 out of the register and apologized for the overcharge. Again she admitted I was overcharged but allowed me to leave without reimbursement. I got the impression they assume most people won't notice, or complain, so some extra bucks. Again, this had been one of our favorite local places but very disappointed in this situation. The low rating is based on this bad experience, not the food. I can't rate a restaurant over 1 star if they admit to an overcharge but don't refund you money on the overcharge. It is like they are stealing from you. Only a dollar, but the principal. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow up......Saturday morning after the incident.....got response from owner via Facebook ...where I also posted the overcharge. Apologized, and wants to make it right...assume he/she will do so. If they do, I would excuse the incident as they are correcting the server mistake. Service has really gone down hill. Week nights you might as well plan on 2 hours of your life gone. Weekends, don't even attempt! Bar staff are more occupied with talking to their friends. We watched kitchen staff spend 13 min talking to a table while we were never asked for our first drink choice. Bartender basically threw out menus at us on her way by, then continued to take drink request from people just walking in. We waited a solid 17 mins with no drink order prior to walking out. Last time we were here we waited 12, then another 38 for our food. The food isn't great, it's more convenient for us full time lake people. That's the good news. A server - not so quickly. Got our drink orders then 30 minutes after forever we recv'd our drinks from a different server. We order fajita steak salad, mexican, tenderloin and a pile (16) of garlic parm bone in chicken wings. A solid 30 minutes later, we get our food and most of the party is happy but for me and my wings. Not piping hot but had been cooked through [some time ago]. These are room temp smeared in a thick white TASTELESS sauce (no parm, no garlic, no salt). I believe it was a mix of cream cheese and sour cream w/ no seasonings. And the wings weren't warm enough to melt it. As much as I wished to send them back I'd already waited over an hour in the place. Orders ran abt $10/head before drinks and tippage. I've been here 5 minutes and the thing that I wanted, the buffalo burger which is still on the menu, they don't have anymore. You probably should get a new menu if you stopped carrying something. I then requested a television to be changed to the Big Ten Network. The waitress came back and said there was someone watching the race that was on the television. As always, my wife wrote this for her Facebook Friends. According to the website "Only In Indiana," Chubbie's Pub & Grub in Syracuse ranks among the top 20 best pork tenderloins in the state. So, being the ever-adventurous food hobbyists, we went off for a taste of fame. Chubbie's isn't difficult to find. It's partnered with Wawasee Bowl on S. Huntington Street. We arrived just after 12:30 and the place was jumping with business which told us it's got to be good---and we weren't wrong! This is a place where hamburgers are handcrafted, meats are slow-roasted in house and the tenderloins are personally hand trimmed and tenderized. Not wasting a lot of time on the menu, we went straight for the breaded tenderloin (grilled loins are also an option). While we waited for our masterpieces to be prepared we saw mammoth sandwiches, bowls of steaming chowder, and hearty Beef Manhattens served to other patrons. The aroma of comfort foods filled the air piquing our appetites. And then our orders arrived. We could not believe what we were seeing. Those tenderloins were at least 8 inches long, 4 inches wide and 1/2 inch thick! Buried beneath all that porcine gold was a huge amount of housemade chips and toppings of fresh vegetables. This was not just any ordinary tenderloin. The meat was oh-so-tender with a light, crisp, buttery breading that was seasoned to enhance its host. Now, to tackle a sandwich of this magnitude one must get creative. I cut approximately 3-4 inches off of one end to make it almost bun-sized while Scott folded the meat over double. No matter the diner's method this loin has earned it's place among the top tenderloin contenders in this great state of Indiana! We give it 5 stars and 2 thumbs up. BTW, the waitstaff is top notch and spot on. We were definitely welcomed guests. FYI: Full bar service is available as is a family-friendly dining room.
