Came here for my dad's birthday and it turned into one of the better meals we've had in Oshawa.
Everything is made to order. I can always taste when something was cooked earlier and reheated, and there was none of that here. Every plate came out fresh.
The ribeye was the standout. Asked for medium rare and got exactly that, edge to edge, with a proper sear and not a chewy bite in it. It comes with a mushroom demi on the side that is well beyond regular brown gravy. Rich and savoury with soft mushrooms in it. Once you mix it through the mashed potato and vegetables the whole plate changes. Get extra, it's that good.
The Chronicle Burger is their signature and it's enormous. Bacon, cheese, grilled onions, fresh toppings, real brioche bun, served with onion rings. The amount of food you get for the price is excellent.
Salmon pasta was creamy without being heavy and the salmon was still moist, not dried out. Calamari had a light batter and tender rings. Caesar was crisp. Kids were happy with the pizza. House craft beer was cold and refreshing and the frozen pina colada was properly made.
Ingredient quality is consistent across everything. Crisp lettuce, ripe tomatoes, real cheese. Nothing tasted like it came out of a bulk bag.
Worth knowing they also do breakfast, which a lot of people don't realise. Given how the dinner was cooked, that's high on my list to come back for.
Everything is made fresh so give yourself time to sit and enjoy it rather than rushing. Great spot for a birthday, a family dinner, or a group who want to share plates. We'll be back. read more
