I was leery about coming based on the reviews but thought, hey why not. First of all, the decor was great. Heavy wood and metal accents paired great with the amount of sun that flooded this restaurant. Sitting at the bar near its open patio doors effectively brought the outdoors in. For food, I had the chicken a la plancha. Over both the perfectly roasted potatoes and arugula, the lemon vinaigrette brought a brightness to the dish I really enjoyed. My only reason they didn't get 5 stars is the pace of service. There were 4 people at the bar, and maybe 6 other tables for a total of 20 people. Took a long time for the bartender to take my order and even longer for my food to come. Really sad. Almost 2 hours from beginning to end. read more

Our first impressions of this place were good as we were seated very quickly. We got the Bulletproof Lemon cocktail and really enjoyed it, although with the amount of ice in it the large appearance is deceiving. We got the Trio Dip as an appetizer and were a bit confused why we had to wait over 15 minutes for chips and dip. However, it tasted great and we really enjoyed all three of the dips. It is a large portion and took us quite a while to eat, which was a relief considering how long we waited for our main course. For entrees we got the Moroccan Curried Chicken and the Seafood Pappardelle. We were happy with the portion size and the generous amounts of chicken and seafood in the dishes. Neither of the dishes wowed us and both felt fairly average. My biggest complaint is that we waited over 45 minutes for these dishes. Considering the quality of the food we received it should have come much quicker. I don't think we'll be back here again, for the price we paid we could easily get better quality food with a shorter wait somewhere else. read more

This location is already an upgrade from the other "landing" at Shop at Don Mills. More variety. We order the oysters- Malpeque and the signature fish taco as the appetizers. These two were not bad. The service was good, when I asked the waitress which wine will go well with my paella, she actually provided me samples to try. Moving on to the main, the seafood paella would have been good if the rice was less dried, and if they did not use basmati rice, the seafood and the sauce tasted alright. Anyways, this is slowly expanding my experience of the landings around the GTA, as I want to try the one on front street and upper Canada mall. read more

You can trust the reviews here .... 3.5 stars is perfect. The prices are fair but not excellent (20 CAD for a burger and a salad). The service is friendly but not attentive, most of us sat without refills for much of the meal even though the restaurant was essentially empty. Honestly though, my food was very good, the salad ingredients tasted extremely fresh and the turkey burger patty was DELICIOUS as was the slaw it was topped with. The bun was a bit dry but it went well with the wetness of the coleslaw (for lack of a better term). The pizzas were large and I heard they also did not disappoint. I wouldn't expect more of this place than a mall dining establishment but the right thing from the menu makes this a decent find. read more

The bacon and pepper infused vodka and house spiced clamato caesar mix was the perfect blend of spicy and caesar. I liked the extreme bean and the havarti too. K ordered a pint of Guinness which was so good. It was so smooth! The Landing Wings in Dry Rub Ancho Pepper Lime with carrot and celery and a blue cheese dip. I liked these wings! The Dry Rub Ancho Pepper Lime wasn't spicy at all and did have a hint of lime to it. The Brisket Mac 'N Cheese called its name out to me when I was browsing the menu. This had aged cheddar, 14-hour smoked brisket, onion aioli, and a poblãno BBQ sauce. This turned out to be a small portion -- which was perfect for us! Despite it being a brisket and mac and cheese dish, it actually didn't taste too heavy at all. The mac and cheese was arranged in a long rectangular shape on the dish with the brisket and onion aioli on top of it. The smoked brisket was really good! The tastes and flavours came together well. It was a successful comfort food dish. The Peruvian Chicken Salad was gorgeous. It had marinated chicken, ancient grains, pickled vegetables, smoked jalapeño crema, and a black garlic sumac vinaigrette. I was impressed that the chicken was moist and wasn't tough at all. It was a very good salad! The Bocconcini Salad had arugula, tomato, bocconcini cheese, pickled onions, cucumber curls, basil oil, balsamic glaze, and agave. This was a very refreshing salad. The bocconcini cheese was new to me. It was firm and flat and tasted like a combination of mozzarella and ricotta to me. It was another good salad. The Chocolate Cake here at Baxters Landing was a definite classic and a very chocolaty cake. I really loved it! It was a house-made layered chocolate cake with ganache. This is just another Landing located at Oshawa Centre Shopping Mall. It has the same trendy interior decor like all other Landings. I gave this Landing a 4 star to its friendly and attentive service, neat, tidy and bright environment, and good brunch. My avocado benedict is good though the hollandaise sauce is a bit on the sour side, it's my thing:) I especially like the side salad, it tastes just right with goat cheese and walnut. If you plan to dine here and you are very hungry, keep in mind that the kitchen is SLOW. I have visited this location on many occasions and each time I have waited over 40-60 minutes for my meal. This visit was even more aggravating, as we waited 35 minutes for a charcuterie board. I would think that pre-cut cheese, meats, sliced fruit and grapes would be very quick to assemble. That was not the case. Thankfully extra bread for the board only took 15 minutes. I ordered a margarita pizza as my main and was underwhelmed. There was no chew to the crust, it was crunchy like a cracker. There was also a strange addition of sliced tomatoes, which I didn't particularly enjoy. If I return to this location, I will have a snack at home prior to patiently waiting for the charcuterie board. read more

Ok so I went here for lunch and wasn't really impressed. I had fish and chips and my friend had the chimichurro pizza with the Baxter's Landing signature salad. The fish was ok. The tartar sauce was awful and so was the coleslaw. It was very 'mayo-ey' on both of them. Maybe the chef likes that overly mayo flavour. I don't! The Chimichurro pizza was awesome and so was the salad! Would go again for both! Service was good... We were taken care of efficiently and even greeted by the manager once we were finishing up. First time trying out Baxter's Landing, we were out for a girls night. My three girlfriends who LOVE wine were thrilled to find that bottles were half price! Each bottle working out to be around $20.00 dollars. Completely reasonable according to them. They were all very pleased with there wine selections two reds one from France, one from California and a Rosé. We all enjoyed our meals, the steak with potatoes and vegetables, baked pasta, and beet and goat cheese salad and I had the Baxter's Burger. Also the apple strudel was order for dessert and was met with very high praise. Overall, we had a great night at Baxter's Landing. Wow! This restaurant just opened a few days ago so I kept my expectations low. Right away we had great service. Our server was serving a group so another server, and I assume a manager, came to take our drink and food orders and apologized for the wait (we weren't even waiting long at all). We went for brunch so I had to try the Landing Cure which is an enormous caesar with a pile of goodies on top. It came with a slice of thin crust pizza, a lobster tail, carrot, celery, cucumber, cheese, salami, an olive, extreme bean, cherry tomato, peperoncini... I think that's everything! This is practically a meal on its own. This is actually a great deal for $16! I had the breakfast poutine. It was very tasty! My husband got the chicken and waffles. I'm not usually a fan of chicken and waffles, but I would order this for myself. It wasn't dry at all and was very flavourful. I have been here a handful of times and it never disappoints me. Friendly Barr staff and the servers are knowledgeable about the menu. I have had their signature burger..very good but be hungry if you order it. Had one of the pizzas last time and there was nothing left to take home. This location of Baxters Landing has only recently opened, and as such I understand that there will be teething problems, but sadly, even taking that into account, I can only give two stars based on my experience there. I'm willing to go back in time to try again, but won't be rushing back again. The menu is simple, not too many items listed, but sufficient to offer a variety of choices. This would make me think the chefs would then know how to cook these options well. Sadly they haven't mastered it yet. For example, "rare" steak coming out closer to "well done." Fries that are soggy and not crisp. Over salted vegetables. The service, whilst being friendly, was not efficient or customer focused. We finished our bottle of wine early into our meal, but it was over twenty minutes later once I had finished eating that our server actually asked if we wanted another. Had she noticed and asked earlier, we would have ordered another bottle, but declined at this point. My wife's steak was not cooked to liking, and although this was rectified, including the manager speaking with us. neither he nor our server actually ever said what was going on, and if they would provide anything as a gesture of goodwill. Overall, poor communication and attention to the customer made for a disappointing meal. I hope this can be improved upon, as it looks promising, and I would love to have a decent bar/restaurant like this prosper in the Oshawa Mall. read more

My family and I came to Baxters Landing for the first time. It was amazing food and amazing service!!! 10 stars to you!! My power bowl was fresh, well balanced and delicious. My family's meals were equally delicious. On my very last bite, there was a fair sized stone in the food. I didn't hurt myself but I wanted to let the staff know for future service. I'm here visiting from Texas and took my family out for a nice dinner so we chose here. Terrible mistake. We had 5 kids and our server forgot to ring in their food so the adults food came out with no kids meals. No apologies. Didn't check on us. I attended Sunday along with 3 other people. It was a hit and miss amongst us. We were there for Brunch. Atmosphere was great - music was a little loud for first thing in the morning. We had to strain to hear each other. I had the Cheese Cake filled French Toast - Amazing!!! My husband had the steak and eggs and was disappointed. The serving of steak was very small - he joked that he did not need a steak knife as it is a one bite piece of steak. Our friends had the Eggs Benedict that came with a salad?!?! She asked for a side of home fries. She said it as Meh...Her husband had the Chicken and Waffles and loved it. My biggest complaint is that the coffee was $3. I had the chimichura pizza and my husband had the naan chicken club. The pizza had tons of flavour. The chicken club was very fresh and light tasting. Was in Oshawa for a soccer tournament and our team parents came here for dinner. I only have one simple word.... R-I-D-I-C-U-L-O-U-S My wife and I had the calamari appetizer, she had a chicken Caesar wrap with fries and 2 glasses of wine and I had curry chicken and a "five paddles" craft beer. Ok, I got charged $16.50 for ONE 650ml bottle of beer, really?! The entire bill, including mandatory tip was $102 effing dollars! Food was fine but the serving sizes were small, if we hadn't gotten the appetizer we would have left hungry. I have 2 more words.... never again. Great food great service starting right at the front door. The hostess tried her best to sit us outside with an umbrella but we finally had to sit inside as it was just too hot for us on the patio. Our server was excellent with a nice smile and happy attitude. We enjoyed our dinner very much and they even hailed us a taxi on our way out. There patio is the perfect spot! The food is always amazing. Unfortunately, it's hit and miss with servers. They can be fantastic or you're waiting to order for 30-45 minutes. Plus another 30-45 minutes to get your food. This has happened only on three occasions, I'm mentioning it because during these times they weren't very busy so no excuse. Unfortunately, Oshawa does not have much choice of restaurants but I am glad we have Baxters landing. The food is very good. My favourite is the tai coconut soup ( they don't always have it) the fish tacos with the delicious jicama slaw and the righteous greens! Of course it's pricer but I will say the food is consistently good. Koodos to their chefs. My only issue with this place is the fact that the staff is not accommodating when it comes to large groups. I visited this place with a group of no more than 10 people, it was a last minute arrangement as a result I couldn't make a reservation. When my group and I arrived we were treated rudely by staff and the male manager who were visibly annoyed with me when they found out I had shown up without a reservation. I get it, but to make us feel that way really changed my entire opinion about this place. My entire group and I left and ended up at another restaurant which was packed and yet they still accommodated my party - Needless to say, I won't be bringing a large group unannounced like that again. Very disappointed with my first experience here. The service was ok...nothing outstanding. I had asked the waitress if they served peach bellini's and she said they did and then came back to tell me they didn't as they had no peach puree. I would naturally assume a waitress should know what they serve and don't serve. Very limited menu. It was actually quite difficult to find something to order. I ordered the Brisket Mac n Cheese and it wasn't what I expected. There was a very small amount of brisket on it (although it was dry it was flavourful) but the actual mac n cheese was lukewarm. My side of fries was good but my Caesar salad was disgusting. Extremely bitter and hardly any dressing. I am not quite sure what they put in the salad but it may have been kale. When I questioned the waitress if they put kale in their caesar salad she said no but then I showed her the curly pieces of greens and she was like, oh I don't know what that is. My friends steak was ok. Overall, I will not go back due to the small menu choices, the crappy food and the less than stellar customer service. read more

The music was too loud, and the tv only showed CP24, I don't want to hear about Justin Trudeau's latest blunder. There were fruit flies all around our table, which is unsanitary. Our waitress took forever to take our orders, even thought the restaurant wasn't that busy. The food portions were ridiculously small for the price, and the food was over seasoned. It took the waitress 40 minutes to bring us the bill, and she was standing talking for most of the time. It's nice to have a new restaurant in Oshawa, even if it's another one by Cara (think Montana's, Swiss Chalet, etc.). Compared to other landing restaurants the selection is limited and the service is slow, having been 3 times to this location, it's not uncommon for your drink to stay dry for most of the meal (which is too bad because you would think they would want to sell you more drinks). The other unfortunate thing is the food is inconsistently made, sometimes there are good sauces in the dish and others times the food is dry. I'd go back because it's close and it's a nice environment, but for the price the service and food consistency has to improve, especially if the menu isn't going to expand. read more

Visited for the first time on Thursday, Feb 8, 2017. Place was half empty and from what we could tell people that were there when we arrived had ordered and/or were eating. Food was okay. Chicken club on naan bread for me, pasta carbonara for my husband. My husband enjoyed his pasta...once we got it. The service? Horrendous. I believe our servers name was Kristie. Pleasant enough but dinner (with dessert) took 2-1/2 hours. It took 30 minutes alone to get our dessert. Toffee pudding with a scoop of ice cream. Really? The pudding cake was pre-baked! All they had to do was microwave and add ice cream. I asked my husband not to order dessert because I knew based on how long dinner took we'd be there all night but he really wanted it and said how long could it be? Honestly worst service and slowest kitchen I've ever experienced. Would we return? Definitely not. Do yourself a favour and eat somewhere else. You'll grow old eating here. This location is very poor in comparison to the other sister locations in Toronto . The food was horrific , the fish tacos were soggy. The sliders were burnt and dry and French fries were refried .
