Barta's is a huge dimly lit and dirty warehouse, chock full of treasures. He carries goat, cow, sheep, deer hides and more. You can buy them by the foot or scraps. The cow veg leather was $3.50 per foot the day I went, varying weights. Ask to have them measure the thickness if you need a certain mm. The scraps were $2.50. I bought 10 lbs for $25. The smell when you first enter is hide putrid. This ain't Tandy folks! Once you go further in the sweet heady aroma of leather wafts up. Four important tips! They only take cash or check. Bring a flashlight as it's pretty dim. Wear old clothes! There's a water hose outside you can use to wash up afterwards. Have fun in this freakin amazing leather paradise!

It is an older warehouse with bins and bins of scrap leather as well as many, many beautiful large pieces from a variety of animals. This place is different. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by Yunus, the gentleman working behind the counter. He immediately clocked me as a first time customer and made sure to come over to show me some glassware options. When I declined the first couple for various reasons he didn't push, he just went back to the wall to grab a new one that fit my specifications. When he pulled the one that met all specifications down I assumed he was going to upcharge since he knew that's the one I wanted. But no. He smiled once he realized he had found the one I was looking for and gave me a little first timer discount! We continued chatting whilst he helped me find a small grinder and a bag for my new glass piece. He showed me how the odd little grinder works and helped me find a bag that would fit the piece perfectly! Cant say enough about the kindness that Yunus showed me!
