The communication and scheduling was lacking, so we were a little frustrated, but it didn't prepare us for the ordeal we were going to be dealing with. We live in an old house, 1920's. My husband expressed this many times, that appropriate measures would have to be taken as we had lead in our old windows and trim. I heard him over the phone as well as in person and he was assured they would take the steps necessary. The day the windows were to be replaced, my kids and I left the house. Two windows were in our daughters room, the other in our guest bedroom. One window was oriented the wrong way and still installed. The worst part was, after removing the old windows, the workers took leaf blowers out to blow debris out into the yard below and all over the rooms. My husband ran upstairs and yelled at them to stop, that once again, there was lead paint involved. They stopped and cleaned up, but not well enough. My husband wiped everything down afterwards, not trusting it was cleaned properly. A few months later, my daughter received test results showing elevated levels of lead in her blood. It was quick and not a single other person in our family had any detectable levels. I was livid. I'm still livid. I don't care that one of our windows is wrong or that it took forever to arrange communication. I'm livid that lead safe practices weren't followed as promised and my child had to pay for it. You can't put a price on that. Thankfully, she's grown, and the situation is under control now, but if you have an old house, I would absolutely not recommend this company. To the owner, if your business gives homeowners your word that things will be done safely and following safe standards, you need to follow through. Safety should be top priority. This could have had a very poor outcome.

Jasmin was able to give me an estimate based on my description and photos (and the price did not change once he saw it in person), and he handled the repair the next day. He cut not only a new piece of glass but also a new wooden stopper that was a very close match to our previous one. He even had the foresight to move the wooden stoppers around to make the new one less noticeable. I would not have thought to ask him to do that! The work was terrific and the cost was very reasonable. Extremely quick, skilled, and personable. I would certainly hire Jasmin for future window installations and repairs!

Chris from Main Street was quick to respond and we set up an on-site consult for later in the week. I knew which windows (4 of them) I wanted replaced since an Anderson Renewal guy had come out separately to inspect & provide a quote. Chris from Main Street was extremely kind, helpful, and upfront. I chose them ultimately because of this pleasant meeting, urgency for the replacement, and fair price. He was my only point of contact the whole job which was nice and he was on top of communicating things throughout the whole process. We also have siding being replaced so he communicated with my other contractor to coordinate timing. Pricing was very reasonable compared to Renewal but more expensive than a DIY vinyl install because of the window quality. I wanted a window that would last and was willing to pay more. The Anderson 100 series installed was literally half the cost of what Renewal had quoted me (I believe they quoted the 300 series) but are very high quality windows regardless and we really like them. There are some minor aesthetic defects from the manufacturing of the windows (pictured here) but they can be trimmed off very easily and aren't a concern. The installer Dre came in with Dan as support and they did a beautiful job. I had plenty of notice beforehand and they finished the job exactly as estimated (about 6 hours) after cleaning up very nicely. All in all, I thought Main Street Windows had a competitive price, I appreciated their recommendation for the product, they did a great job communicating, and the windows look great.

An evaluation card was sent to me to be completed. I wore on the card how upset I was that a cleanup fee was charged and I did the clean. On May 14th I received a $25 dollar gift card since my evaluation was pulled for the month. I immediately sent the card back indicating I didn't want the card due to the charged cleanup fee. Today I received a call from the man who wrote the contract and he indicated that he made a mistake, that the contract should have stated completion not cleanup. He then told me if I talked to anyone about this and told them I was charged a clean up fee when my son an I did the cleanup I would be "telling a FIB". We are so happy with the result we asked them to remodel our three bathrooms. Again, their quote was better than the other 8 companies we compared with. Their timing and flexibility was better as well! Throughout the process of bathroom remodeling, they were extremely helpful, accommodating and easy to work with. From picking tiles and helping us with the pickup (usually pretty expensive), to going out of their ways to seal cracks for us on the wall and hanging paintings for my mom. From the moment the salesperson arrived, they noticed I had recently had gutters installed by another company and immediately began criticizing them -- saying they overcharged me and that their materials and work were pretty much trash. This felt very unprofessional and unnecessary, especially since the appointment was supposed to be about insulation. When we discussed insulation, the salesperson didn't seem very knowledgeable and asked what quotes I had already received from other companies. After I shared the pricing, I was told those prices were reasonable and that I should probably go with one of those companies because they specialize in insulation more than they do. The salesperson then reviewed the exterior of my property to quote siding and soffits, and the price provided was surprising expensive. During that time, the salesperson continued making negative comments about the gutter company I had used, which made the interaction even more uncomfortable. I expect professionalism when inviting a company for business. Speaking poorly about competitors and making a customer feel bad about previous work they've had done is not a good way to build trust. First impressions matter, and unfortunately this experience did not reflect well.
