I started going to Dr Thompson about 5 years ago and have had a truly wonderful experience. First off, logistics; the administrative staff is on top of their game, scheduling appointments and getting reminders works like clock work. They're always easy to work with, accommodating, and have a friendly attitude. The office is clean, well maintained and the chairs are comfortable. Secondly, regular cleanups. After not having gone to the dentist for about 3 years in my mid-twenties, I was in dire need of some regular maintenance. Once we got my un-told number of fillings taken care of I was super motivated to stay on top of my dental health. All my regular cleanings and x-rays have been quick and painless experiences. The hygienist staff are great professionals who take time and effort to clean your teeth properly. They're also friendly and talkative which helps pass the time; but if that's not your thing, there are iPods to listen to and TVs to watch as well. Finally, specialty services; this is where Dr Thompson's abilities truly shine. To put it mildly, I've been rough on my teeth, I tend to grind and clamp my teeth all night long and don't even know it. At the age of 30, I had worn down my teeth to the length of someone twice my age. After talking it over with Dr. Thompson, we decided to do something about it. The first step was to get custom bite guards made to stop the damage. The second stage was to get custom veneers to recreate the smile I had lost. We started with teeth whitening to get my surrounding teeth to the color we wanted to match. Then we went through a procedure to shape my teeth and create molds for my new custom veneers. After a couple of weeks, we had a follow up appointment to permanently install my new teeth. Dr Thompson has a great understanding of all the materials used for cosmetic dentistry, after some discussion we decided to go with a glass ceramic: lithium disilicate. There are a few advantages over porcelain veneers; namely, greater durability (for a grinder like me), opacity that better matches actual teeth, and thinner wall thickness that leaves more of my original teeth in place. I've been living with my new smile for over a year now, and couldn't be happier. All in all, my experiences with Dr Thompson's office for both regular maintenance and specially cosmetic services has been exceptional. read more

I have been going to Dr. Thompson since I was 5 years old and am now the mother of two teenagers. I have never written a review before but this one is LONG overdue. Dr. Thompson and his staff are excellent. My husband began seeing Dr. Thompson 25 years ago when we married and my children have been going to Dr. Thompson their entire lives. Generally, I hear that kids hate to go to the dentist but mine have NEVER been hesitant to go. They have always thought it was fun and LOVE the entire staff. My youngest recently had to get two teeth pulled and I was more scared of the process then she was. After it was done, her comment was, "I LOVE Dr. Thompson. He made it not hurt at all". REALLY! That is what she said. I was shocked but it prompted me to write this review. He is a great dentist. His staff is really professional and friendly and the office is immaculate. I cannot say enough amazing things about Dr. Thompson and his associate Dr. Thayer. They not only do top-notch dental work, but they are INCREDIBLY personable and conscientious people. Dr. T has a witty sense of humor to boot! The entire staff has the ability to put you at ease and the office is quite lovely as well. While you get your teeth worked on, you have the option to catch one of your favorite daytime shows (they have TVs in every room), jam out to some tunes on one of their iPods or just hang out and be entertained by the dozens of birds and squirrels that like to hang out right outside the window. Dr. Thayer is a welcome addition to his practice. Both are kind and caring. They are willing to answer questions and address concerns. I have gone to Dr. Thompson since I was a kid. I have never had a cavity because i take good care of my teeth and have had great preventative care from Dr. Thompson. I moved to the Sacramento area six years ago and continue to drive out to Walnut Creek to go to the dentist because of the quality care I have received for over thirty years. Chris is a 100% terrific dentist. He keeps up on the latest medical breakthroughs, has a great "bedside" manor and is extremely professional. He also stays on top of technological innovations, so patients are confident that they are in a state of the art facility. Dr. Thompson is an excellent dentist. I have been going to Dr. Thompson for over 20 years and have never been disappointed in his work. I started going there as a child and continue to go there as an adult. I travel from San Francisco to Walnut Creek to see him as I have not found anyone else who is as good as him. Our whole family has been going to Dr. Thompson for 35+ years. We never got around to finding a children's dentist for our 5 because Dr. Thompson and his staff are equally skilled in working with children as well as adults.
