I was very nervous going in but the procedure was quick they accommodated scheduling, reassured me throughout the process and even followed up and helped through the recovery process. Please know that my scrutiny is not to be mean but to make sure I'm providing an honest and well written review. This establishment is pretty amazing--that is an understatement actually. We arrived the morning on time for a 9am appointment. My son was brought back promptly and the pre surgery set up began immediately. My son (who was the patient) stated that doctor and the tech were incredibly nice, professional and treated him with patience. While I sat in the lobby the tech Heather came out, said everything is all set and ready to go, then went back to the room. That small peace of mind was reassuring. While waiting the hour it took for the 4 wisdom teeth extraction I drank coffee provided in the lobby Keurig. The only downfall and it is a slight one, is that I carried my coffee trash with me because I could not find a trash can, even a small one. My son asked to keep his teeth and he was able to keep the ones that did not break in the extraction process. When the removal was over I was brought back to the recovery room and Heather did a fantastic job going over the procedures for the next couple days. I won't lie I didn't remember a lot because there was just so many dos, don'ts, make sure you don't forget, sleep this way, don't sleep that way etc. When my son stood up Heather had him grab her arm and she patiently waited for him to get all the way up, had him take a deep breath and then started walking slowly. My son held onto Heathers arm as she held onto the loop of his pants (with his permission of course) and they slooooowly walked to the car. When they got outside Heather asked my son to stand for a moment and take a deep breath in to make sure he was able to acclimate to the outside and still being a little weird from anesthesia. Heather walked him all the way to the car, she is absolutely amazing and I mean that 107%! That evening the office called to check on my son before they closed. The office was closed on Wednesday and when they reopened on Thursday I called with questions. The staff was so sweet answering the pieces of info I forgot from the day of the removal. A couple days go by and I have more questions and a concern on Friday. An appt was made for my son to come and see the doctor for a quick check up, he was reassured that he was healing well and all looked good. One week post surgery, I called with another slight concern, Heather answered and we both laughed because I was calling AGAIN however she was incredibly kind with her answers. I will recommend this oral surgeon and staff again and again and again. Don't take my word for it, get a consult yourself when you are in need.

Dr. King referred me to a local endodontist for follow-up care, but not before taking the opportunity to replace a "leaking" crown in the same quadrant where I was experiencing the pain. $1629 charged for exam, X-rays, scan, core build-up and a new crown. When I went to the endodontist to which I was referred, he found that the pain was originating from a calcified root canal in the same tooth Dr. King had just re-crowned. So why would any dentist replace a leaking crown in a quadrant with unresolved pain?!? After nearly 20 years with Dr. King - my family and I have joined a new dental practice, as the episode has caused us to lose confidence in Dr. King's judgement.

I have been terrified of the dentist for some time. Kind of like the car dealership, you have a go-between who talks billing and insurance with you away from the nurse and dentist. It's discrete and comfortable without pressure. My nurse (dental hygienist) was Susan? Or Sandy? God she was an angel. She was so kind to me breaking down and upset and in pain. She made me feel so comfortable talking about stuff and offering anything I might need. My dentist was Dr Taylor who was incredibly knowledgeable and proficient. I got out what needed to come out and I even scheduled an appointment for regular maintenance later this month. I was made comfortable to be there, whether I needed nitrous or a valium, either are available. And they make sure you are physically comfortable with numbing. Mentally comfortable is hard, but true kindness shines through in the folks who work there. I got a kids "reward" (shark plushie) to hold while I had my procedure. When I left I got a "goodie bag" with full instructions on what I had done, extra gauze, and an emergency card. It's a little hinky getting in with the road construction on witchduck road. But soon as your turn on Grayson, by the church, it's there. There's an employee entrance on the witchduck side and another saying Ste 200 on the side, even though the dentist is Ste 100, this is the door you go in.

They could've thrown many different options ($$) but they chose to do the most effective method per money value. After I got through that entire ordeal they told me the proper methods to keeping my teeth clean (and my particular issues). Since then, I just follow the instructions they gave me and continually have awesome checkups. The dental assistant who took my X-rays (I'm assuming that's what it's called) came out to get me and was super kind and easy to talk to. She explained everything as we went and made sure I was comfortable the whole time. After the imaging, Dr. Hernandez came in and went over everything they found. I honestly don't remember ever having a dentist be that thorough. He took his time, explained things clearly, and made sure I understood what was going on and had all my questions answered. This was just the first visit--they'll do the cleaning and anything else at a follow-up--but overall, everyone there was wonderful. It's hard for me to even say this, but I'm actually looking forward to going back. I told my youngest son and his wife (who are local and looking for a dentist), and they are eager to be seen by Dr. Hernandez and his staff!

Very pleased with the quality of care until last year when a staffing shortage had them cancel my regular check up and I have now gone a year with no check ups. Then I get an email that they won't accept my issurance any longer--so now I am back to square one--searching for medical care in VB which I seldom need but have generally found really hard as compared to my home state. Maybe it's a Virgina Beach thing the health care provider issue? Anyway CHECK TO see if they take your insurance before hand--it is a smaller, more personal practice with good no nonsense care--sad to have to leave and who knows in this town if I can find another provider? ( and we have good, expensive corporate health insurance!) Nice staff.
