I went to Dr. Barrera today on the recommendation of a friend who has had good results on facial…read moreprocedures as well as hair loss therapies done by him. I have been wanting to try Platelet-Rich Plasma therapy for a few thin spots that have appeared in my hair. Dr. Barrera spent a lot of time discussing the procedure with me, including showing me before and after pictures of his patients who have undergone the procedure. Dr. Barrera then personally drew the blood for the procedure as well as doing the injections in my scalp. He numbed my head before doing the injections, and the procedure was painless. His bedside manner is very good and his fees are reasonable. It's obviously too early to know whether the PRP treatment will be effective for me, but I decided it was worth a shot before I go for hair transplants. Dr. Barrera and I discussed hair transplants and other procedures that I asked about, and was very open in discussing options and costs. I was very favorably impressed by my visit, and highly recommend him.

Our main objective is to safely achieve results that are not only attractive but look natural! We are proud to have our own Accredited Ambulatory Surgical Facility (AAAASF) within our office, which allows us to safely perform all aesthetic surgical procedures in house and without the need top go to the hospital. Additionally we do all of them under IV sedation and local anesthesia (totally painless during the procedure and usually minimal discomfort afterwards) without the need for general anesthesia, providing this way added safety, comfort and faster recovery.

Honesty in a plastic surgeon is critical. And Dr. Fortes is not only exceptionally talented, but…read morehe is honest. In my consultation for a tummy tuck, he confirmed what I knew: my stomach, three kids later, no matter how much I worked out, would not be flat without an abdominoplasty, all the while acknowledging that I was not overweight and somewhat thin. I was also very athletic at the time of my consult in April 2022, and 51. From that moment on, I was given the best care and concern from Dr. Fortes and his staff, with major obstacles we had to overcome with the lab work and communication between my PCP, the lab, the anesthesiologist, and Dr. Fortes. I wasn't approved until 12 hours before my procedure, but his staff was determined and always available. Post-op, I was very afraid of jeopardizing his work and myself, since I had previously a bad experience with one of my C-sections in which the incision came open from a sudden move. Dr. Fortes was very patient and aware of my fears, and the results were worth gold. I am so pleased, and would highly suggest anyone who is unsure if they are a candidate for a tummy tuck, to see Dr. Fortes. Actually, anyone seeking a tummy tuck and/or lipo should definitely visit ACPS and Dr. Fortes!

My review has nothing to do with the doctor's skill. I called to schedule a virtual consultation…read moreafter waiting several days to respond to my online inquiry. I never received a call or email about my online inquiry. So, I decided to go ahead and call. The woman who answered the phone was friendly and informative. My review concerns their scheduling policy. I find it to be highly unethical. I was told that if I wanted to get a consultation and surgery within the year, I had to put down a nonrefundable 10% of the cost of surgery. So, you are forcing me to commit to a very invasive, risky, and expensive surgery without ever having informed consent from the surgeon, whom I have never met? I think people who are seeking information about serious surgical body modifications should be able to make decisions concerning these things after meeting the person who will be permanently modifying their body. A consultation is not only about informed consent. It is also when the patient gets to meet the surgeon and determine if this is the person they want to perform their surgery with. And what if I decide to do no surgery based on the information I am given? People should not feel forced to make decisions like this uninformed and on the spot. What if I decided to go with a different surgeon? So that means I lose $3k? Also, I have no idea precisely what I need because I rely on the surgeon's expertise. When I spoke to the woman to give me a quote, I was guessing which procedures I needed. Anyhow, personally, this is a major RED FLAG. I believe it to be completely unethical and exploitative. I think charging a no-show fee for those who don't attend consultations is warranted. But forcing people to put down payments on serious surgeries without information about the pros and cons and never meeting the surgeon makes me question the character and ethics of this doctor.
