He has a lot of years of experience that serve him well. He followed up right away after he got blood tests results and just has a good, old fashioned practice. I called this doctor's office around Aug'21 on a referral, they confirmed they accepted new patients, took my insurance information and confirmed they were in-network and set up an appointment for routine annual visit with Dr. Lu for 5 weeks later. I requested to be put on their wait list as I told them I was travelling end of the month overseas to go care for my mother who was scheduled to have surgery, but I never got a call to pull in the appointment. Two days prior to the appointment, the receptionist called to confirm the appointment and walked me thru office protocols. During the call I emphasized that I was coming in for a routine preventative visit for which my insurance would cover the visit at 100%, and I asked what their office policy was and if there were any additional charges pertaining to new patients I needed to be aware of. The receptionist said she would check with the billing person who is also the office manager and would get back to me. She called me shortly after to let me know they were cancelling my appointment because they did not want to have any issues with insurance. I was shocked. I asked the receptionist why after waiting for more than 5 weeks for the appointment, and given their office knew I was travelling, would they at the 11th hour tell me they were cancelling my appointment simply because I wanted to be informed of the cost of the visit. The receptionist was extremely rude and told me it was my choice to wait for Dr. Lu and if there is no time now to look for another doctor, that is my problem not theirs. I asked that the doctor or the office manager call me so I could better understand where they were coming from but no one called me back. Later, I came across six other reviews on Yelp from patients who had similar experience with this doctor with one patient stating that the doctor had categorically told him "he had issues with all insurance companies" and a couple of other reviews stating the doctor discontinued services to them or cancelling their appointments without a valid reason . I urge you to please read all the 1-star reviews on Yelp before making your decision. My recommendation, STAY AWAY, would you want to have someone that uncaring and that unprofessional as your doctor ?

Her staff was pleasant, I had a little bit of a wait and I thought that she was going to rush me as she was running late. That was not the case. After a long time, I was very surprised to hear a physician ask me tell the whole story of my symptoms & to start at the beginning & describe everything, not just bits & pieces. I received a referral to be seen for breathing difficulties in a highly urgent scenario. I had already been to the ER twice and they had run a respiratory panel that included Covid 19 which all came back negative. The PCP and ER doc all said I need to see a pulmonologist urgently. This clinic called and said I could come in today but only if I provided another negative pcr test result today. When I logically I explained that wasn't reasonable given that pcr tests take at least a day or two she did not care. I then gave the phone to my husband because her lack of empathy and care was negatively impacting my vitals and he asked the very rude and illogical lady who clearly does not care about patients at all what her recommendation was for getting a pcr test and the results in a couple of hours, she had none. Rather than helping she made the childish and illogical statement of "well I then I will document that you are refusing this appt" which I clearly was not. So she chose to make a false and illegal documentation. She refused to provide her name, refused to listen to reason and hung up the phone. This is why people say American healthcare is not great. People like this destroy patients rather than help them and they happily collect a paycheck while doing it. The doctors and director of this practice need to fire her if they care even 1% for their patients. Stop protecting bad hires because in the end you are also responsible for them and their mistakes. I even called back to file a complaint and the manager, Giovanna, wouldn't talk to me today. They said she would call and it's been a month, no call. Patients can get frustrated especially when they are being treated poorly. Healthcare workers acting defensively in the face of that frustration are unprofessional. Second visit I arrived and they were backed up without any free rooms available. I then asked how much longer, they could not provide an estimated wait time, and suggested I reschedule. I left instead and will find another provider who values my time. The 2 stars is because Dr. Kellogg did take his time with me during my first visit and appeared knowledgeable, but the obscene wait times don't offset good bedside manner.
