What a great process! Here's what I noticed: - Lots of hand sanitizer once you walk in - They immediately check your temperature and oxygen levels upon walking in - Fill out a short form re: covid - No magazines or any common things that can shared is present in the office - I noticed the front desk immediately wiped down every surface I touched (pen, clipboard for form, etc) - When getting my teeth x-rayed and cleaned, Jan wore a full face shield, goggles, and mask - They have earplugs for you to use as they use a big vacuum system near your mouth when cleaning so that everything is sucked I think it is amazing how they've adapted to COVID! Also wanted to say I've been coming here for years and am impressed every time. My appointments are always on time, no waiting around in the waiting room for extended amounts of time. Parking is validated. Front desk is professional, competent, and friendly. My dental hygienist Jan is awesome!! I'm usually in and out of my appointment very quickly. I highly recommend Dr. Hayashi. There have been a handful of times I've had a different hygienist because of schedule, and they're all great.

I once read an article about the most and least satisfying jobs in America. The most satisfying…read morewas hair stylist, they make you look good, feel good and typically serves as your unofficial therapist. The least satisfying was dentist, cause most people hate going to the dentist, tooth pain and needles aren't the best to be associated with. Plus you can't be having deep conversations while having work done in your mouth. I've always had a phobia going to the dentist from being traumatized from being strapped down in the dental chair as a child, while having dental work done. I would cry the whole way to the dentist, I'd imagine the same way a dog fears the vet. Then enter Dr. Hayashi and his amazing staff! I now look forward and get excited about going to the dentist. Over the years, Dr. Hayashi, Jan, Nancy, Jovi and Lori have not only become friends but they feel like family. They are just so genuinely caring to their patients it's heartfelt. Their appointment system sends you an email and text to remind you of your appointment and confirming is just a click away. Whether it's a regular cleaning with Jan the hygienist, she always has the biggest smile and best hugs. I love her so much! She is always so thorough and takes time to give you tips on brushing and protecting your gums from receding. A visit with Dr. Hayashi for any dental work is always a pleasant one. Over the years, I've had to have some fillings replaced, my teeth filled in where my gums had receded, a root canal (was referred to a great specialist), two crowns put on (they have a machine that makes the crown in house and you get it done in the same visit, no more temporary crown to deal with). A chair that massages, say what?? Can I just say, I HATE NEEDLES, so whenever I need to be numbed up for dental work, it's never my favorite. Dr. Hayashi does it with such care and expertise, I barely even feel the prick! He's called in the evening after some major dental work just to check up on me. Who does that?? So appreciative of his personalize touch! Dr. Hayashi and Nancy the office manager always explains billing clearly so you know what to expect. I remember my first few visits when I had to have a lot of dental work done due to not going to the dentist for years. The bill was going to be very costly. Nancy went to work and learned that my insurance coverage from the previous year could carry over per my plan because I hadn't used it. That saved me SO MUCH money. We would time my appointments to best take advantage of my insurance as it renews each calendar year, prioritizing what needed to be done first and what could wait. I felt so grateful that she took that extra step to care about my pocket. There's been a few times I've needed to go in for an emergency appointment and they always manage to fit me in within a few hours. Parking is validated in their garage and the entrance to it on Alakea Street. I really can't say enough positive things about Dr. Hayashi and his team. In life, finding a doctor and dentist that you trust and can rely is critical. I am so lucky and blessed to have found Dr. Hayashi's office. They absolutely come with my HIGHEST recommendation!

THE SECRET IS OUT - I know I already wrote a review for this place so it's not really a secret, but…read morenow I am NAMING NAMES. I normally don't like to give away my secrets and I still have a ton of places I've not yet reviewed on Yelp because I don't want anyone else to know about my favorite spots (sorry, Emi!). In this case, my favorite dentist, Dr Emory Young, my favorite office peeps and my all-time, iron-clad, extremely caring and talented dental hygienist Suzie! I was there yesterday for a cleaning before I dashed off to a fancy gala event. Since I last wrote my review, I must admit I have strayed to another dental location out of sheer laziness and not wanting to drive to town...big mistake! I don't want to bad-mouth (get it, 'mouth'?) the other dental office but let's just say I wasn't very impressed. Once you've had a really stellar experience it's hard to expect anything less. Should I break it down for you? Honesty: my mouth had fallen prey to a dishonest dentist who ruined my teeth promising and assuring me that capping all my teeth with crowns was a good idea, even if my teeth did not need crowns. Ever since he messed me up, I've needed gum surgery and root canals. Dr. Emory Young is the total opposite, he won't try to sell you things you don't need. You'd think dentists are supposed to be honest but watch out for the ones who tell you your whole mouth should be crowned. Communication: Dr. Emory is great at it. He will explain everything in plain English. Maybe he'll tell you about his surfing experiences or his smart talented daughter too. He's easy to talk to and makes you feel at ease. You can ask him anything and he'll give you a straight answer. He always makes me laugh, and that is hard for a dentist to do (childhood trauma with dentists...gives me nightmares) Awesome cleanings: I'm not just saying Suzie is the best on the island because I've been going to her for years, but because I've had my teeth cleaned by other (ahem) dental offices that don't really do such a thorough job. I've had one hygienist tell me "wow your teeth are so clean" and proceeds to rush through the cleaning because, apparently my teeth are so clean they don't need deep cleaning? She also told my husband the exact same thing so I'm thinking she tells everyone the same thing? Clean or not, you'll get your money's worth with Suzie. She will take the time to examine your face from the outside in. She actually found an abcess on my gum on a routine cleaning that was painless but turned out to be a huge deal. If it wasn't for Suzie I may have lost the tooth. Ease in making appointments: Suzie has Saturday cleanings too! Call way in advance :-) I could go on and on but just make that cleaning appointment and see for yourself! You're welcome.

Dr. Chen ended up helping her with her crown replacement. She was so happy with her experience, she found him very calming and supportive with the dental work. Since, I also visit this office I can also confirm it's excellent. I had a bad toothache at the end of 2011. When I called Dr. Chen & Dr. Kuo's office to schedule an…read moreappointment the answering machine went off and they have an emergency number for you to contact the doctor if something is really bad. With that number, I got in touch with Dr. Chen right away and he told me to come in the next working day before his first patient. After getting that check up, he told me I needed a root canal. I've never had one of those before but it sounded really sore. I think the office usually opens half day on Wednesdays but Dr. Chen gave me an appointment to come back in the afternoon since his schedule was full and because my tooth was hurting real bad. I went back the next day, sat in the chair for 1.5 hours and I'm much better now. The process of getting the root canal done was painless. So I want to say that Dr. Chen is a very good dentist. I have and will continue to recommend him to my friends and co-workers. He is a bit expensive but you get what you pay for and teeth are very important.

Having no way to reach him, I shotgunned calls to other dentists in the East Honolulu area and fortunately Dr. Weiss could see me that day. She took very good care of the emergency I had. Since then, Dr. Weiss has been taking excellent care of all my dental needs for the past few years. She is very knowledgable and addresses my dental issues with a high degree of professionalism and expertise. I am very comfortable with her being my dentist from here on out. So much so that I have recommended multiple family members to her. The waiting room, dental hygienist, and procedure rooms are all clean and much more modern than my prior dentist. Appointments have been on time and the front desk staff have always been nice to me. Also nice about this place is that they are located in the Kahala Mall professional building where there is ample free parking around the building and the mall. I dont know if Dr. Weiss is taking new patients at this time, but if she is and you are looking for a dentist, I strongly recommend giving her a try.

The office itself is clean, organized and professional. Exactly what you'd want when walking into a dentist's office. Highly recommended!
