I've been through 3 of my roughly 7 treatments here. I was really unsure of the whole process going…read moreinto it, so here's how my experience has been: I booked my initial consult on a Saturday. I got a bottle of water, a quick tour of the clinic, and then the salesperson and I sat in a little conference room where she showed me a video and went over the services they offer. They offer services on individual body parts, like upper and lower legs, upper and lower chest, armpits, neckline, etc. They also have package deals like whole leg and "tshirt" (front and back tshirt are separate services). The sales process is low-pressure and easy. The person who handles sales at this particular location is super personable. We had and still have great conversations. One downside to the services offered is that you can't get "spot" treated. They only cover whole body parts. So, for instance, if you get your chest done, they don't also do the shoulders. You have to pay for the whole tshirt service to get both chest and shoulders done. This can end up looking a little funny if you're really hairy because there's a hard line where the hair ends and the treated area begins. For instance, if you get a tshirt service and have pretty hairy arms, your bald shoulders abruptly become very hairy forearms that need to be kept trimmed in order not to look weird. I asked if I could get my forearms treated, but not go through all 7 (or however many it takes) sessions so the hair is just more sparse instead of having totally hairless arms, and that wasn't an option. It's also very expensive. Even just getting your neckline done will set you back a few thousand dollars, financed over a several years. (The financing is technically interest-free, but if you pay up-front there's a discount.) On the bright side, those are my only real gripes about the company. I didn't comparison shop, but Milan offers unlimited treatments forever, unlike most of their competitors. The price might actually be very reasonable, depending on how many follow-up appointments you need. Apparently most people will need to go back once a year or every couple of years for a touch-up. I had my first session with the provider about a week after my consult. The provider is a nurse who's overseen by a physician. I think the Mayo Clinic advises that people who want laser hair removal should only have it done by a physician. That's kinda absurd, if you ask me. This isn't an invasive process at all, and this provider is very knowledgeable in the craft. It's obviously higher-tech than waxing, but it's not exactly surgery either. Here's how it works: You're asked to go in with the area to be treated clean-shaven. (I thought it only needed to be clipper-shaved, but you actually should use a razor. The provider had to shave me down before we got started.) The provider draws a grid on the area with a white eyeliner pencil to give herself sections to work on. During the first session, the laser is set to a fairly low valence. I've heard it compared to being popped by a rubber band. It's actually not even that bad because each zap is followed by a puff of cold air that sooths it. The laser is a hand-held device with a round plastic tip on the end, maybe an inch in diameter. The practitioner places the plastic tip on the skin, inch by inch, until the section is done. Once done, she puts a little checkmark to indicate that it's done and then moves on to the next section. The speed at which she works is pretty much dependent on the client's comfort level. I find that areas where I'm ticklish are pretty excruciating, even with the cold puff, so she has to go fairly slow. Areas where I'm not ticklish are perfectly fine and she can go a lot faster. I can't even feel the zaps in some spots. One thing I didn't expect but probably should have is the smell the burnt hair. It's pretty gross, but you get used to it. The valence of the laser goes up with each treatment, so you feel it a little more each time. Thankfully, the painful parts are over pretty quickly. I took ibuprofen and did a hit of a delta-8 vape before session 3, and it was much more bearable. You can't get any sun on the treated areas between sessions. If you like to hang out at the pool or on a boat in the summer, you'll have to cover up. They advise that the skin might be tender or painful after treatments. This hasn't been my experience at all. After it's over, the practitioner spreads some aloe vera gel on me, I get dressed, and I have no lingering effects. I've taken hot showers afterwards with no problem. Your mileage may vary, though. All things considered, if you're looking for a more-or-less permanent solution to unsightly body hair, I definitely recommend looking into Milan. Their unlimited sessions plan is the biggest selling point in my opinion.

I haven't seen Valery for over a year, but I previously had laser removal done…read more I scheduled an appointment for 4:00 pm. We arrived and the door was locked, we tried to knock but there's no doorbell and the entry is on the lower level, the office is located on the 2nd floor. I thought that it was strange to not be able to access the building, but my sister and I went to caribou to wait a few minutes. 4:00 pm and the door is still locked. Mind you it was below zero and freezing outside, like one of those days you don't even want to leave the house. We went to the car to wait, I was frustrated at first but then began to worry. I tried to call her office but she only has a number to a call center. So there was no real way to contact her, I emailed. They emailed, nothing. My sister and I waited 40 minutes, each of us taking turns to run and try and see if the door had opened. We finally decided to leave. At 4:55 Valery called and left me a voicemail. She did not address that she had been 55 minutes late to contact me, she just stated that she's sorry, and thay door is open now and to come on up. I was beyond disappointed with the way my sister and I were treated. It seems concerning to me that she did not even have any way to get in touch with her. Following up to our email she did not provide any sort of explanation. Just saying that she is sorry for the inconvenience and to book another appointment online. The prices here are comparable to all of the spas and clinics in the metro. $350 for BBL, $600 - $1,000 for filler depending on if you need dysport, additional filler etc. I have sent so many people to Luminous You. My friend actually in the past year has spent thousands on treatments and fillers. She too said the way in which this business operates has gone downhill. That's too bad, I wish Valery well but after my experience I will chose to go elsewhere.

I work in NYC, happened to be in St. Paul and thought, "I have some down time over my lunch breaks…read morein ALL WEEK Sunday through Friday, what a great idea I'll update all my filler and botox while I'm here." Was ready to spend my usual chunk of change on this place and got really excited reading the reviews. I booked my appointment online on a Saturday/Sunday for a Thursday. Was leaving town the following Saturday. Come to find out the day BEFORE my appointment that their online system doesn't actually work, and I have no appointment...(?!). Felt so dumb as had told all my coworkers how excited I was to try this cool-looking business. They tried to find a new time that worked with my schedule but the whole thing felt very amateur hour so I decided to take my business elsewhere. If you can't get scheduling right I don't trust you with my face, sorry. Good luck trying to cater to busy executives with that system.

A little pushy on the wax passes, but not in a crazy annoying way. But honestly the passes are a good value. I've seen Ava the last couple years and love her! She is so personable and professional and waxes efficiently. The wax they use is great and hurts much less than other waxes.

I have been with EWC for almost 10 years and I've never had any major issues worth complaining…read moreabout. I've been with a few different locations, Woodbury, Vadnais Heights, Eagan and now with Roseville. My most recent encounter was with the Manager of the Roseville location, I did not get her name, nor did she tell me her name when I asked for the manager (Phone interaction). I had a pass that was for 9 waxes, and then they had a promotion going on two months ago (June) for the unlimited pass. This is what I really do not like about EWC, they push the front staff to up sale so they will withhold important information just to make the sale, or mislead you to make the sale. I was advised, my unlimited pass would start after I finished my current pass, so I went ahead with the purchase. I finally finished my last wax for my 9-pass last weekend 8/16. When I asked the front staff when my new pass would start the gave me a date of Aug 20. It didn't make sense to me, since I wouldn't be in for at least another 3 weeks, so I'm basically losing a month. The manager wasn't in so then I called later on in the week. When I call the manager told me the pass starts when I bought it. Again, this is not what I was told. She then continued to tell me my 9-wax pass was completed in June when I bought the unlimited pass, which was not accurate. So, that tells me she really didn't look at my account before trying to get assist me and really just wanted to get me off the phone. She then said that I was correct and my last visit was 8/16 so she'll change my new pass to start 8/17. Again, how is this fair to me that I would be losing a month? Had I known it was going to start the day I made the purchase I wouldn't purchase the pass until I needed it. She then put me on hold and came back and said it was company policy that they couldn't change the start date, but she was going to do it this one time for me (as if it was my fault that they did a poor job providing the proper information). Then she continued to tell me that my pass for the 9 visit never expires and that I could've saved it and started using my unlimited pass right away. She did not like that I pushed back and stated that it should've been communicated to me at the time of the purchase. It was just upsetting for me because there was no accountability taken and she basically blamed me and acted like she was doing me a favor for the misinformation given. I've heard numerous stories from esthetician about how terrible the leadership and the management is with the company. I truly feel bad for them. I loved every esthetician that I had, I switched locations just to follow certain esthetician. This is really just more information to get all the details before making any purchases, the front will be pushy but that's because they have to be.
