Inside, it's a little warmer and bonus points if you get a fire pit spot. Generally, a very chill place to hang out with friends. We settled on some long tables and an Art Car IPA was about $8 with tip. Took a little while to get service because there was no one at the bar when we came in. There are several Christian Tailgate's in town and I've been to quite a few of them. This was my first time visiting their location in The Heights. Service (3.5/5): Upon sitting, we were approached promptly by a waitress. Taking care of a large group isn't easy and she did a good job. Something a little weird, though? They did a $25 pre-authorization charge on all of our cards. It didn't go through so no issues but not something you typically see at a bar so thought I would mention it. Drinks (3.5/5): Christian's Tailgate has a large beer list which is exactly what you expect at a sports bar. They have a full bar, including a standard list of solid, yet unimaginative, cocktails. And wine. But are you really going to order wine at a sports bar? If you do, I will definitely judge you. I had a very good experience at Christian's tailgate. I went for Thursday night football and it was a great vibe. The food was really good too. I got the three sliders for dinner & tried one of each. Both the chicken and hamburger sliders were very good, while the pulled pork was just ok. The beer was pretty good and average price, although we discovered that the dos equis was skunked :( Only con was that it was a bit hard to find parking... Overall I'd give this place a 4/5. A couple of friends and I decided to meet for a few drinks/ apps on a Saturday afternoon of Memorial Day Weekend. Seating is covered/ indoors but the bar is open air so you really get the feel of being at a patio bar. The bartenders and servers were all very friendly and happy to make suggestions. When there, our group ordered a few Yuengling Beers, the Mimosa Carafe and some fried pickles. I loved that the mimosa carafe was actually served as a bottle of Prosecco on ice with a large cup of juice (your choice of juice) so you could pick your own juice/ champagne ratio. Also- it was on their Saturday specials menu so the price ($15) just couldn't be beat! The only thing I didn't love was the fried pickles. The pickles were served as thinly sliced pickle spears instead of chips so when you bit in, you ended up with the whole pickle and then a lot of breading left over. Our group specifically came to catch the game - this place is perfect for that. There's TV's everywhere and the place is deceptively huge. They have daily specials, happy hour and reverse happy hour too. We ordered wings, nachos, and appetizer sampler. All we're very good. We've had the burgers in the past and those are very good as well. Our server was friendly, but she was hard to find at times maybe because it was a weekday with the Astros playing and she was the only one covering multiple tables but she did check on us every time she walked by - not necessarily a bad experience. I'm surprised by all the negative reviews of this place because I've never had a bad experience. I've watched multiple Rockets and Astros games here. There is usually some kind of special depending on the night of the week, taco tues, shot specials, happy hour, etc. Plenty of seating, partly indoors/outdoors, bartenders were friendly, solid bar food, honestly not much to complain about for your typical sports bar. Servers do not get notification that the batch of crawfish is done. The cook plates the order, order then sits until the server has time to go outside for the order. We were literally served crawfish which was not even warm any longer. We asked to be served a different batch which was still hot! Server returned approx 10 minutes later with a 5 pound batch, still not hot, but better than the order previously delivered to our table. Most lacked the seasoning flavor expected of crawfish. Potatoes and corn additional cost, 2 small red potatoes $1, 1 corn $1 (corn was the size of a half a frozen nibblet size ear of corn. Unfortunately too much inconsistency to return. The back half of the bar, which is enclosed and also houses their kitchen and another bar, had karaoke night in full force. Came here to watch a Gator game with the local Gator Club! It was a nice big space so definitely great for watch parties. It was nice and cool (temperature wise). The service was okay. This Christian's Tailgate location is nestled right in the heart of the Heights. I have the pleasure of watching my favorite college football team play here every game. It's the closest thing to tailgating and watching the game with fellow Seminoles back in Tally. The atmosphere is great and the workers are friendly. Luckily my college alum network gets to watch the game in the back area where the AC is at. So, no worries about sweating bullets in this treacherous Houston heat like the front area of the building. The service can be a little disorganized. I say that only because I have seen the waitresses give the wrong food to the wrong customers, then wanting the customer to pay for something that was delivered to them in error. There should be some sort of system to that such as a number card to avoid these mistakes. As much as I love the vibe here, the 4 star rating comes from the mediocre food. It's decent, however, it can sure use a little more seasoning. Besides that I really enjoy coming here to watch football with fellow alum from my university. Oh and I'd recommend arriving before the start of any game to avoid potential issues with parking! I live in Atlanta but when I come home, this is one of my spots. Been loving this spot for a minute and I'm glad they get better with time. I'm hard on waitresses because I have been one for awhile so I'm always trying to see how I will get treated. You just never know. I like to watch how the staff interacts with each other as well so I pleased when I got the pleasure of having Denise as my waitress. She was so pleasant and funny. Great customer service and she seems to be a great presence to have in the bar. Some of the girls seemed a little ehhhh ya know lol it's probably because they are young. You can just tell unfortunately but ya know with a little training (home and at work) they might get better. So let me tell y'all about this crispy chicken wrap I had...maaaannn it was so good.
