I have a gluten allergy, so I was thrilled to read the menu online and see gluten-free options! After my order was filled though, I was informed that the gluten-free cookies are also dairy-free. That should have been disclosed first. Dairy-free does not taste 'right' to dairy eaters; it's an acquired taste. Since I was in a group of people, I felt pressured to simply complete my purchase. I can't eat those cookies! They are still sitting on my kitchen counter. No amount of sugar can cover the flavor of artificial egg. If you can eat wheat, they have a great selection of items available that look and smell wonderful. I heard from others that they taste good, too. read more

Amazing treats and exceptional customer service! We stopped by on the way out of Fredericksburg and are now sad it's not closer to home. Super friendly lady working the counter helped us pick from a huge selection and made us laugh as well. We were honestly surprised (since they had such a big variety) that everything we ate was so delicious! My cherry turnover was the star though. The filling had to be homemade - actual big cherries inside and not too sweet like the typical pie filling many places use. And the pastry dough was awesome. Just perfect all around. Friendly service and we like that you can either go inside or go to their window on the side of the building to order. Prices are good and each carb-loading experience has been FAR from disappointing! The first time we visited we were offered free glazed donuts. Apparently they made too much and of course, we couldn't say no. We initially stopped for their sweet German pretzels and although those are definitely different than a glazed donut, the donuts held up on their own as a great choice from their bakery. I suppose so much so that we made sure to stop over again just for the donuts today. Today we were offered cinnamon rolls at a discount because they had a lot (tbh, I'm beginning to like this practice). We bought two and took a small nibble and like everything else we've tried so far, it was fantastic. Moist, delicious, and full of flavor! Driving through LLano and found this place by accident. Everything looked amazing. I prefer European bakeries as they use less sugar than American bakeries. I did buy a puff pasty turnover with mixed fruit jam inside and it was sublime. Not too sweet and very yummy. I did t try anything else but co side ti g most so called bakeries only serve donuts/cookies/cupcakes this place is way better. I would definitely stop in again. read more

This was the single best glazed donut I have ever had in my life. It was both fluffy and cake-like while having a fun chewy-ish texture that I am failing to properly explain. It was magic. It was also the worst cup of coffee I have ever paid for. It was weak and possibly instant. The 'cream and sugar' was added by them and I suspect it was that powdered creamer stuff. Just awful - don't do it. I could still be a raving fan of the donuts and skip the coffee if the service was less hostile. My husband was treated poorly and there is no excuse for that. read more

The mini pies and mint chocolate cookies are amazing here. My husband really enjoys the cherry turnovers when we go here. We live an hour and half away, but this place is worth the drive. This quaint little place tucked away in Llano bakes some really good stuff! Beware - it's so tiny you could easily pass right by it, but once you find Chrissy's you won't forget it. Stopped in here to see what I could bring back for the team. There's all kinds of goodies: cookies, pastries, pies, breads, bars, cakes, kolaches, biscuit sandwiches. And oh Lordy Lord they had a section for day-old offerings that were exquisitely priced. Me gots a nice Chocolate Chip Pecan Pie for $3.75 (normally $12!) - - and it was phenomenal! Our Admin loved it so much she didn't even ask permission to dig in, and she had 2nds and 3rds and couldn't tell it was a day old. In fact that pie lasted well over a week and held up very well. I also loved the biscuit breakfast sandwich - which seems to be popular since it was nearly sold out. It looked like something that was made at a campfire on the range back in the day. Homemade square biscuit with egg, cheese and 2 half slices of bacon. Warmed it up in the microwave - it rocked! One of the best breakfast sandwiches I've had to date, I believe it cost around $3.50-3.75. I got some day old chocolate cake doughnuts also at a great price. I'm not much of a cake doughnut fan since they can be a bit heavy but these chocolatey delights looked too good to pass up. I kept them in the fridge and stuck them in the microwave for 30 seconds and they were just like new. Tasted so fresh, way better than the usual store-bought I've had in the past. The co-workers liked the German pretzels, it looks similar to a turnover pastry that's tied in a pretzel - good to eat on the go. They ran out of the tomato basil bread and their kolaches were one of the better one's I've had, the jalapeno and cheese sausage was a nice sized link, none of that skimpy linky stuff. There were 2 ladies running the show here, and they were so sweet and nice. They even gave me a fresh sugar cookie w/ green icing just prepped - - and I never had a sugar cookie that good - tasted the way it should, quality fresh. They also do catering and there's a ton more baked goods they offer that I had to pass over, but no worries, Chrissy's is on my radar and I'll definitely be back for more. read more

Not only does the bakery have that old timey , southern charm, but the staff is also super friendly and helpful. If you're in the area and are going to stop by, I have two magic words for you, German Pretzels. They are unlike pretzel I've ever had before and I loved them so much I took a box home with me! This is a great stop between Austin, TX and Brady, TX as it so happens, on the highway but before you get through the square. The retro building is what caught our eye and I'm glad for it. I tasted a sample of the german pretzle and fruit bar, both good. I ended up picking up an apricot pie (tasty but a little too sweet), an assorted batch of cookies (ranging from unassuming to flavorful) and tomato garlic bread (my favorite of the batch.) They take cards and have cool air during a hot summer drive. They also have a cooler of drinks. I'll stop here again next time! read more

I am a Yelp Elite because--I hit the 'hi-ways' and the 'by-ways' wherever I go. I most oft find that the BEST place(s) are unexpected finds ('holes in the wall, so to speak). I'm in the Buchanan Lake area visiting. I am a relatively bold explorer, but my host is not--so much. I was accompanying on an errand and asked that we drive the circumference of the downtown square, an errand which took my host out of their comfort zone (single-minded task oriented), but acquiesced non-the-less. So, when (after crossing the bring leaving town) I saw a sign for a bakery...I pleaded to stop. I was told we could stop but I had to do the rest of the driving. OKAY I said. We parked in the modest gravel parking lot (with signs designating the parking for bakery patrons) and entered the 'vintage' building. Well--the customer area is teeny tiny BUT the selection is INCREDIBL(y) amazing. I was nearly struck dumb (ahem, not literally possible) with incredulity. There is a wide spectrum of selection of baked goods ranging from 8-10 different kinds of cookies, at least 6 different kinds of pies (small tarts and full sized), hand pies/turnovers, kolaches, pretzels, chocolates, and many more what-nots. When I'm presented with such a delectable opportunity I prefer to Take My Time to ponder and evaluate my options. Unfortunately, I was under pressure from AND competing with, my host AND a non-stop stream of other customers. The clerk had to elicit assistance from the back (the baker herself!) to help with the all the demand(s). I ended up getting a Roadrunner mini-cake, a bourbon pecan tart, four chocolate truffles, and a sausage kolache. My host also purchased a kolache and a cinnamon roll. The steady stream of customers? all, fervent fans of the establishment and their wares. We were given assurances by all, that we too would become loyal patrons. Okay, so...yes. I am--a fan! My kolache was the best I've ever eaten! My host...said the same. The cinnamon roll received a similar review from its' consumer. I will be spending my money at Chrissy's from now on--every time I'm "in these parts." read more

Got a little pie, a rum cake, and a turnover. For $27 ! Well, maybe it will be good, right? Nope. The rum cake had no flavor of rum or anything else besides sugar. Such a cute mom & pop shop! My husband and I came in town very early morning for an elopement and were starving. Their open time is listed as 6:30 and when we arrived the sign on the door said 7:15. We didn't have time to wait until they officially opened, so we rang the bell and they were so sweet and accommodating. I went to Chrissy's on October 14. I had: 1 sausage biscuit and 1 mixed berry turnover. I paid $12. The sausage biscuit you get at McDonald's for $1 is just as good, and the turnover you get at Randall's/Safeway/Albertson's/HEB for $1.49 is better. When I told the young lady that even in Manhattan, New York this would be cheaper and what explains the exorbitant price, her response was "Inflation." In other words, an incredible rip off for at-best-mediocre baked goods. read more

We were passing through town and decided to stop for a sweet treat. The young employee was extremely rude. She didn't greet us but instead rolled her eyes and walked back into the kitchen. Once she came back and we ordered, she never once smiled or said anything other than telling us the amount we owed. I also thought the cookies were extremely over priced, flavorless, and dry. $10 for a bottle of water and 10 sand tarts that weren't much bigger than a quarter each. Amazing find! Stopped at this bakery on the way home from Gorman Falls and was pleased with the great selection and friendliest worker. After much thought, we decided on the flaky pretzel twist, magic bar, mixed berry turnover, and lemon cookies. All that for $12!! Excellent pastries. We got a couple of turnovers, a cinnamon roll, a German pretzel, a chocolate cake doughnut and a few jalapeño bread sausage kolaches. We shared bites and everyone agreed that everything was delicious! The turnovers were magically flakey. The cinnamon role was even better than my dad's home made ones, and it tasted like it was made out of cake. The kolaches were a day old and discounted, but still tasted fresh. We will certainly go again next time we pass through Llanos. read more
