However, I have to say that our experience was nothing like those reviews. We had a great experience from start to finish. What makes this place even better is that it is more than just a steakhouse. They have a great bourbon and whiskey selection, a really cool Western atmosphere, live music, and a dance floor. It has a fun, lively feel that makes it a great place to enjoy a meal and then stick around for the rest of the evening. The staff were friendly, and the entire experience was excellent. If you enjoy great steaks, good bourbon, and a fun Western atmosphere, I highly recommend stopping by the Western Horseman Club. We will definitely be back the next time we're in Amarillo!

I still don't know the smoking rules in Texas after all these years but it doesn't matter here either way: you're gonna walk outta here smelling like Grandma's ashtray. Hey, the place was clean and reminiscent of the mobile home I grew up in, wood paneling and all. I got a couple of stiffies here for a good price but they were top shelf at least, I might have been getting the stranger treatment. Nice bartender though. When I was there it was just several dudes talking loudly about their guns (they all seem to think they are imminent victims of attack) but the vibe was actually chill and full of mirth as it were mostly. There was a black dude wearing a Confederate flag straw cowboy hat holding court who was mostly pretty funny. I mean, WTF but whatever, right? I don't know what to say. It was exactly what I expected. Would I personally go there every day? Probably not. Would you avoid it like the plague? Maybe. It is exactly what you would expect. Give it a go.

First, the (minor) dings: the area is literally in a back room, kinda cramped. No big deal. The acoustics aren't great, but again, I've been to worse! Long rotation? Well, yeah. Unfortunately, you have to sign up on a yellow tablet. Get over it, lots of people want to sing, and I had a blast when I did. My big problem was the KJ announcing on the mic that if you want to be "moved up" in the list, it would take a $20 tip. That's a bit much. I say this as someone who hosted for 13 years in Austin, TX. I've never heard of a host doing this, which knocks my rating down. Would I return? Probably, but I'll just get there earlier!

On weekends they open up their dance floors which double the bar in size. I always have a great time at Bodega's and see long-time friends here. DJs tend to play anything from contemporary hiphop, old school (90's-2000's) hiphop, and some Latin music. They always know what to play to get the crowd moving. 5/5.
