Dr Chou has been my dentist for several years now and even though I don't live in the area anymore I still come back to see her twice a year. My teeth have been taken cared by Dr. Anita Chow for the past 17 years. I had regular cleaning, filling, removal of wisdom teeth etc etc. I was grateful to her care each and every time but I was really touched during my visit yesterday. My teeth haven't been cleaned for over a year and Dr. Chow spent much more time than my previous cleaning but she never rushed and never forced. Same great experience regardless COVID or not. Their office also has multiple measures such as infrared temperature detection, hydrogen peroxide mist disinfection, overnight UV light sanitation etc to keep their office safe. read more

This review is long overdue since I've been visiting Dr Liu and Dr Chou since I was a child! Even into adulthood, I continue coming back to them. Most recently, I had Dr Liu extract two wisdom teeth. The day before, I get a phone call from the office explaining my copay amount and asking where my pharmacy was. They were going to call in 4 medications for me to take 1 hour before the surgery. They were (to my knowledge), triazolam, dexamethasone, amoxicillin, and a pain reliever kinda thing (not vicodin). Not sure about the review below, but antibiotics were definitely prescribed. Only change I would have made here is getting them called in a day earlier. My pharmacy didn't have one medication, so I had to make a trip to a second pharmacy which impacted my schedule a bit. Took medications an hour before, as instructed. Showed up, paid my copay. Procedure was done under local anesthesia - so no going under. Dr Liu's technique is 10/10 and top notch when it comes to the actual extraction. I was as comfortable as I could be during the extraction. It seemed quick and very simple. This mimicked my previous experience with wisdom teeth extraction almost 8 years ago. I waited a long time in between extractions, but I distinctly remember the same procedure. Not sure about aftercare, but the I have been feeling fine following the procedure. Minimal swelling, if any. Minimal pain, if any. Seems to be healing nicely and I've been able to continue with my routine day-to-day activities. All in all, Dr Liu is definitely the man to go to for wisdom teeth extraction. He's my family dentist, and my parents echo these sentiments. Great guy, very friendly and knowledgeable. Cannot say more positive things about him. Didn't see Dr Chou this time, so I'll save that review for another time. But she has also been my go-to for cleanings. Very thorough with checkups, always willing and able to answer my questions. My wife visited this place for extraction of wisdom teeth in August. The dentist didn't prescribe any antibiotic, even after my wife checked with him. One week later, something very strange grew near her gum and caused a lot of pain. She went to a general practitioner, who was shocked upon learning that no antibiotics were given after wisdom teeth removal. The GP didn't know what caused this and suggested she go to a ENT specialist. I am not 100% sure if there is a connection between visiting this place and her infection, but her teeth and gum never had such a big trouble before. I'll definitely not recommend this place to any friend. read more

So I am really terrified of dentist, had a horrible experience with one a few years back. So Since then I have been bouncing around from one dentist to the next. I couldn't find one that was covered by my insurance and was a good dentist. I asked around and my friend recommended I come here. I made an appointment a few weeks back and was able to come in within a week (+1). On my first appointment she was really good, nice and especially patient (+1). I am so scared of the dentist I had to take a break half way through the check up and she was totally okay with that. So I scheduled to come back for a filling. i LOVE Dr. Liu's office. I've heard so many horror stories from friends who have visited their dentist and end up paying for unnecessary services and/or products on the advice of their shady dentist. So I did my research after I changed dental insurance plans, and asked co-workers for recommendations. Many of my co workers at this time were patients of Dr. Liu's office, so I thought I'd give him a try, and am so happy that I did! Dr. Liu works on all first time patients. Subsequent visits I've been seeing his colleague, Dr. Anita Chow, who has been just as amazing. Whenever a procedure is necessary they always tell me the price before starting work and are diligent on trying to get the most out of my insurance benefits, instead of out of my pocket. To add icing to the cake, the front office staff is knowledgeable, polite, and efficient. Going to the dentist is no longer a painstaking endeavor since I totally trust Dr. Liu's office. read more

Dr. Liu's office is the best! Started coming here probably 15 years ago. Dr. Liu, his wife, and the rest of the staff are all so friendly and just awesome people. Had a lot of cavities as a kid (soda + candy = A LOT of cavities), and never had any pain when Dr. Liu did my fillings. He's so nice and easy going, I was never scared of going to the dentist, unlike most kids. A few years back I also had 3 of my wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Liu. Never had any pain, my face wasn't even swollen like a lot of my friends who've had their wisdom teeth removed. The equipment in the office is top of the line. Everything is always new technology everytime I came in. And I know Dr. Liu goes to all those conferences so he definitely keeps up to date with all the new updates in dentistry. In the past few years, I've also had check-ups with Dr. Liu's colleague Dr. Chow. She's also very good. Very sweet and easy to talk to. She makes me feel comfortable coming in. read more

Dr. Liu is awesome! It was my first time going to the dentist and I am twenty years old. I was always scared of going to the dentist and hearing all those dentist horror stories didn't make it any better. The front office was very efficient and polite. I never had to wait more than fifteen minutes. They made sure I remembered by appointments by calling in two days earlier to remind me. If phone calls didn't work, they messaged me on the phone, which was very helpful because I have crappy service! To cut it short, he found nine cavities and two wisdom teeth that were in need of attention. Having my cavities filled was a breeze. I felt nothing more than a measly pinch. The staff that was helping Dr. Liu during the procedure were very professional, caring, attentive, and gentle and made the process faster. Lastly, my wisdom teeth was taken out a few days ago. The procedure went a lot better than I imagined. I didn't feel pain. My cheeks were not inflated. It just felt like any other normal day. My family and I have been going to Dr. Liu for the past 10 years and I have nothing but praise for him and his staff. Both my husband and mom have had dental implants by Dr. Liu and neither had to take pain meds for more than a single day. You should know that my husband is so terrified of the dentist that he needs laughing gas just to get his teeth cleaned, so that speaks volumes about Dr. Liu. I've also had a root canal and a few old fillings replaced. I never even needed a Tylenol...but the strangest thing is that 2 separate orthodontists have asked "Who did your root canal and fillings?! They're the best I've ever seen." That's weird and unsolicited b/c how in the world would I know if my dental work is high quality or not? Well, now I know! Let me start by saying a positive about this office. Super clean, organized, friendly, and they go out of their way to work with your insurance. Here's the 1 star rating. The cleanings are a joke. The polishing takes the lady literally 30 seconds. They tell you that gum line cavities are just part of having mature teeth and do nothing about them. They let 90% of cavities go untreated. When you finally get fed up with their lackadaisical attitude toward preventive measures and move on to another dentist, you will have so many problems from lack of treatment that the money you previously saved will not come close to covering the huge dental bills you now have. I'm talking surface treatable cavities that turned into full blown root canals with oral surgery required ASAP. (Found by an ENT as Dr Chris swore my pain was not from teeth). They accommodate our crazy schedule and make sure to remind every time a week before appointment and again the day before. The practice is state of the art & very clean. I am afraid of dental work but Dr Chris Liu is very patient and creative, he changed my semi-annual cleaning to a 4-month cleaning, so each time the cleaning do not hurt so much and the procedure last too long. Also. the staff is very professional and gentle go you. I have been treated by his collleague, Dr Anita Chow, and she seems like very carefully treating your teeth, making sure you are comfortable and no pain. The equipment in Chris Liu's office is top of the line, I remember he got the tiny camera in front of a pen that probe in my mouth that emit light and take pictures.the first time I see him about 13 years ago. Then, he has an X-ray machine that take X-ray images into a PC that will store and compare your previous record. Lastly, he has a TV with remote and head phone, so you can watch your favorite show while the dentist do her work. Dr Liu is so kind, gentle, friendly & truly concerned about my health. Been going here for 10 years and would never change! He was one of the first dentists to get cable TV to watch on a screen above you, while he works on your teeth. It makes the time go by so quickly! How cool is that! And now he has a beautiful new office with Keurig coffee area, a big video game room for the kids, free wifi, nice bathrooms, calming atmosphere design, and very comfortable lounge chairs in the dental rooms. Look no further - you've found your new dentist! I found myself in need of a new dentist upon my recent move from Chicago. I was experiencing some tooth pain and thought I might need a root canal. Dr. Liu was able to see me immediately and was able to address my concerns. After doing a few tests, he advised against a root canal. I'm much better and today I went back for a cleaning. Finally, a decent dentist!! I've had HORRIBLE experiences with dentists. One was a total perv who kissed me on the lips (!) when I was 18 or 19. Then I went to another sheisty jerk at Aspen Dental a few yrs ago who told me I had 12 cavities! I started crying and damn near had a heart attack. Then I went for a 2nd opinion where I was told I had no cavities! But I wasn't comfortable with that guy either because he was old and his office seemed out of date. So I avoided the dentist like the plague for over 2 yrs. I'm about to get Invisalign express with Dr Mario Tai, but I needed a dental check-up/x-rays/cleaning. So he referred me to Dr. Liu and my experience was a positive one. I explained my bad luck with dentists and I'm sure he could tell that I was anxious. He was very friendly and said he did not like to use such aggressive measures. He said I had 2 very tiny cavities but they were so little that he said it wasn't necessary to do anything about them because they don't even make drills that small. I was so relieved to find an ethical dentist! He also did the cleaning himself which surprised me, usually dentists pass you off to the hygienist. It cost $195 which they told me up front when I called and asked. That may be higher than some places, but it seemed fair since the actual dentist did the cleaning. (I always see those ads for $60 cleanings at some places, but I think that just seems shady and I assume they make their money by telling you that you have a bunch of cavities). I would definitely recommend Dr Liu. read more

I have been going to Dr. Liu since 2005 and have had numerous big procedures done by him and 100% satisfied on all of them. Dr. Liu is very kind, funny, patient, professional and his skills are definitely top notch. I have recommanded many friends and family over the years and they all love him too. My husband sees Dr. Chow and I have seen her a few times for teeth cleaning and fillings. She is very professional, friendly and gentle. I tell my husband she is like the needle whiserper because when she applies anesthesia, it doesn't sting much at all! The office is very modern, clean, spacious, and has a big kids room as well! Dr. Liu's amazing and well trained staff have all been with him for many years, so always nice seeing friendly faces when I walk in. I can't rave enough about this place. Dr. Liu and his team are professional and very, very good at what they do. I have been around a long time and have had experience with many dentists and Dr. Liu is top of the line. I have seen him for probably 5 or 6 years now and have had cleanings, a couple of fillings and proactive work done on one tooth to keep it from developing a cavity at the gum. I would say the work that he did is great. However, his price is too high. I wouldn't recommend you going this place unless you have a premier insurance plan. He charge dramatically high price for non premier insurance holders. For cleaning, checkup and taking x-rays, they charged my insurance of $300 dollars, and I had to pay out of packet of $100 copy with delta PPO plan. For filings, he charged my insurance for almost $700 dollars for 3 teeth, and I had a pay out of packet price of $170. This dentist got $1200 from me for a cleaning check up visit plus 3 filings. I would consider this to be high price. Most insurance plan only allows you to spent $1000 max per year. And this guy took all the insurance allowance from you for just 2 days. read more

Oh my gosh. Are you SERIOUS? This dentist says he graduated from UCSF, but my friend told me that he didn't. That is NOT right. I was irritated, and he kept trying to be funny when I was in pain and angry. He tried giving me advice about my life when he didn't even know what was going on. That made me feel really uncomfortable. From then on, he just felt really forceful and it hurt my mouth. I would definitely NOT recommend him. read more
