However, their administration -- and the vice dean specifically -- are among the most unpleasant, entitled, and inflexible people I've ever dealt with. From making basic arithmetic mistakes to having the audacity to send multiple emails rescinding a discount they themselves offered, every interaction with them was worse than the last. While it's a great school, let's be honest: none of their alumni are truly world-class performers. Not that it would justify their behavior, but I'd be more inclined to put up with their administrative nonsense if their results matched their cockiness -- they don't. I encourage parents to support smaller community schools and independent individual teachers who aren't governed by entitled, shortsighted administration.

In fact, her curriculum is a twelve-year program that includes elements of Russian & English ballet traditions with a focus on the George Balanchine technique and style. We watched the session from the window for a bit before wandering around the area. I used to take tap dance lessons when I was a kid. I wish I had continued them. YOUR SEARCH FOR A BALLET SCHOOL IS OVER. WELCOME TO BLISS. YOU HAVE FINALLY ARRIVED…read more We have searched far and wide for a ballet school and have come to the conclusion that Natalie and Ballet Conservatory West possesses the rare qualities that so many other ballet schools lack. Natalie takes the time to lay a solid foundation with proper technique and movement. Individual attention is given to each student with a focus on their unique body type, strength, and abilities. Natalie's knowledge about dance, anatomy, movement, musculature and other related areas are impressive. She leverages all of these to ensure that dancers are in proper alignment so they don't hurt themselves. She offers tenderness and grace in her instruction and builds rapport with each ballerina. She provides equitable treatment of each student, regardless of whether or not they aspire to be a professional ballerina. And personally speaking, one of the things I love most about Natalie is her personal charm and inner beauty. The tender, loving way that she engages and connects with children makes me melt. Secretly, I love sitting outside of their open-door classes, closing my eyes, and just listening...

I say this because kids are little people who deserve just as much respect and understanding and communication as adults do. When my child had an accident her teacher comforted her and positively and showed her so much empathy. I mean this was only her first time being around her. Wow! This is the type of establishment that deserves our hard earned dollars. My little person felt so reassured and comfortable with her teacher. If this isn't enough, let me tell you about their loaner area. If you for some reason need to borrow shoes because of finances or your child forgot theirs... they have an area dedicated to this and you can donate your little ones shoes that no longer fit them. THAT to me is just HEARTWARMING. This place is a complete gem and I am so glad I didn't go with other studios we tried. Omg I almost forgot, to try a class, guess how much the fee is (since every place is pretty much charging now), it's $0. That's how it should be. At least when I took my older kids that's how it used to be. Let's be honest you should be able to see if a class/school is a good fit and not go broke trying different places. I'm telling you, this is THEE STUDIO.

We have watched and been the recipients of her kind, loving, and generous heart. She has built wonderful studios that are a safe place for our children to not only learn and grow as dancers, but also grow into confident young women. She has continued to evolve her studios, offering new and current styles of dance while always keeping that personal touch. Her teachers are professionals in their own right and help our children learn, create, and thrive. Sophie is also able to accommodate every level and interest in dance... from the little ones just starting out (who are always the cutest on stage!), to older dancers with a true passion for dance, to the competition teams for those who love the challenge and commitment of competing. Having dance in my girls' lives and being part of the Sophie Dance family has been one of the biggest highlights of their lives. They are still constantly dancing in front of the TV, making up routines, and performing for the family. Sadly, our time with Sophie is coming to an end.
