However, I would definitely go back for the wings and maybe give something else on the menu a try.

Once you added the protein, veggies and gravy the noodles start to soften up. Loved that it came with more mushrooms but wished it had more taste. Overall I will definitely be getting those pork dumplings again but I may just stick to my old faithful house fried rice and orange beef until I'll feeling adventurous again.

The garlic was flavorful without overpowering the delicate clams, and the vermicelli provided a great contrast in texture. This is the kind of dish where you can tell some thought went into the execution. The sweet and sour pork was also very well done. Crisp, not greasy, and importantly, not drowning in an overly sweet sauce. The balance was just right. We finished with the egg custard, which takes about 20 minutes to prepare. It was worth waiting for. It had that genuine, traditional quality that you don't always find when restaurants start modifying dishes to appeal to a broader audience. And then there was the service: Our server, Mai, was wonderful. She was warm, courteous, and professional without being overly formal or hovering. More importantly, she actually knew the menu. Her recommendations were excellent, and every dish she suggested delivered. She also recommended a sake pairing that complemented the meal beautifully. I also thought the pricing was very reasonable for the quality. These are dishes that require good ingredients and careful preparation, and I didn't feel like we were paying an inflated price. Authentic flavors, fresh ingredients, thoughtful execution, and genuinely good service. That's what makes a restaurant worth returning to--and Grand Lake got all four right. A very solid 5 stars from me.

I'm not much for writing negative reviews but I had to share my experience just in case it spares someone the trouble of having to waste their time correcting a restaurant's mistakes. I know most of us are busy individuals and have better stuff to do with our time than having to call up our credit card companies to get credited back for being overcharged to the tune of EIGHT times for one order. So congrats Chopsticks. You are my very first (and hopefully last now that I discovered Yelp) negative Chinese food review.... BEWARE of their online ordering system!!! I used it and tried to place an order but when I hit send, it just hung there forever. After trying a few times, I finally called up and placed my order over the phone. I told the lady on the phone (I think it was the owner) that I was having problems with ordering online. She said that they often have trouble with it and that she would reboot the system and then told me to try again. She held on the phone while I did but the same thing happened. I decided to just order over the phone. The lady on the phone was pretty rude. On the online site, the total was different than what she was telling me it was. She was rounding up. I wanted to know why she was charging me a higher price than when I was ordering online but she brushed me off with "that's what it costs!" That still isn't answering my question. Why the unjustified price increase? Also, my friend asked for a little guidance with what she ordered. The lady reluctantly answered her questions regarding what she would recommend on the menu. I'm sorry Ms. Chopsticks, are we troubling you? Perhaps we should call up another restaurant that is a little more interested in our order. Regardless, I just figured she was having a bad day and overlooked her behavior. Our food came, what I ordered was ok but my friend didn't like hers at all. Go figure, the lady on the phone had recommended the dish my friend ordered. It was extremely salty to the point of being inedible and that was the opinion of someone who loves salt. The real kicker comes here... I was looking over the bill for my credit card when it came in the mail and Chopsticks ended up charging my card EIGHT times for one meal. You would think that when I explained my troubles about the online system over the phone, the lady would have looked out for this but no... Luckily, I caught it on my bill and called up to dispute the charge. The credit card company asked me to have the restaurant fax something on their company letterhead explaining their mistake in order to expedite the process of them giving me my money back. However, when I called up to ask them to help with the process of getting credited back on my card, the lady (I'm pretty sure it was the same rude lady that I spoke to before) couldn't be bothered with it. "Just charge it back", she told me, "We don't do that." Well I will tell you, I'm not sure where these people learned about customer service or if their business is doing so well that they could care less about their customers but I will never order from that restaurant again. And judging from many of the other reviews here and on other sites, I'm not the only one who feels that way. read more

I've been going to this place for a couple years now and I honestly have no complaints. The food is always served fast hot and delicious. I'm always satisfied whenever I eat here or order food Togo. The customer service is excellent great hospitality and friendly place to go eat at... I've only ordered delivery a couple times but the delivery was faster than any place I've ever ordered from...... My favorite food from here is the general tsos chicken and chicken fried rice spicy. I definitely recommend this place to anyone who loves Chinese food. You won't be disappointed. read more
