The homemade DanDan noodles were our favorite, which are served with ground pork in a spicy peanut sauce. We also got the three cup chicken which was so good, with a sweet, licorice-like glaze. Some other favorites were the black pepper chicken and the long hot chicken, if you enjoy spice. We had the ginger and scallion dish and was not our favorite, as the chicken had a unique consistency and was quite limp. Overall, good service and a relaxing ambiance in a bustling city.

While visiting Philly over Labor Day weekend, I dined in twice at Nan Zhou…read more On my first visit, I got the coconut chicken curry dumplings and an order of the mapo tofu noodles to go. On the second visit, I got the duck noodle soup and the beef stir fried noodles to go. I don't do a lot of takeout normally, but they did such a nice job packaging both my to go orders on the different days. I didn't think to take pictures of the to go orders, unfortunately; there was a piece of cardboard on the bottom so your food wouldn't slosh around, along with a side of chili oil. In terms of the food, everything was fantastic! It really comes down to your personal preferences and what sounds 'good' to you that day. Yes, it can get busy. They are very efficient and these meals were well worth any wait!

We really enjoyed our visit here and were lucky to get a table since we didn't have reservations…read more We arrived near the beginning of the dinner crowd on a Monday or else we probably would have been turned away as it filled up fast. The inside is fairly basic but not in a cheap way. Service was a bit slower due to how busy they were, but it wasn't bad. The dishes that come out of the kitchen look like they could be served in an upscale restaurant. My orange chicken was great, but you do need to order rice separately. My husband's beef and onion had a LOT of onion, and much of it was still on the plate when he finished. He enjoyed it though. One of my sons ordered a chicken dish that was just a large plate of chicken pieces with nothing else, not even a sauce. We both thought it was too dry and boring. My second son had lo mein though and really liked it. The scallion pancakes were also some of the best I've had in a long time. They were thick and not too greasy with a crisp outside and soft center. I just wish they had more scallions/flavor. The prices were higher than what we are used to, but they're probably in line or even lower end for a big city. Four of us ate for $100.

Booth seating was comfortable and room to move around. Started with a mojito and margarita both were light and refreshing. Placed an order for the dumpling in chili oil and shrimp spring rolls. Service was so quick we were able to make it to our next appointment on time. Bathroom rating: 4.5/5

This was my first time meeting her, but it felt like I have known her for some time. She recommended something for me to try next time -- the "Fresh EarthV Trio (V)" a popular classic Northeastern dish. I'm definitely adding that to my list. What keeps me coming back? It's the consistency -- the service, cost, portion, and most importantly, the flavor. After my shift at work, I genuinely look forward to that first bite of my Dry Chili Pepper Tofu. Moments like this remind me... it's not just about food, it's about connection, consistency, dietary friendly and having a place that hits every time. Thanks Evie!

(Note: if you only want smaller serving of their great, thick noodles, order $4 add-on as a side in place of rice with regular dish.) I always have leftovers to enjoy at home. Dumpling orders are large and shareable. (Always 6 or 8 pieces.) My fave when dining in is amazingly delicious and huge Fish Fillet in Hot and Sour Cabbage Broth. (That's best with rice side to help absorb broth.) So good and healthful to balance the dough density of whatever dumplings you might also order -- they're all great. When getting order to go (or delivered) I like Kung Pao Chicken; it travels well. Order added green veggie dish for sharing -- I lean toward Chinese Broccoli; you'll really want the balance with the delicious dumpling and noodle dishes. Large cocktail menu -- Lychee Martini is so refreshing. Important: cash only for dining in. There's an ATM by their front door. Takeout and delivery accepts credit cards. Most reasonably priced parking nearby (if you don't score a limited street spot) is ParkAmerica at 1040 Race St a few doors down. I just get a feeling that the focus is on pushing alcoholic drinks rather than on the food. The pork buns felt like they were previously frozen and were very sweet. Shrimp dumplings tasted off. I used to be a big fan of the Han Dynasty in University City when I lived in that area, and when I…read morewas in the Penn's Landing area recently I decided to eat at the Old City Han Dynasty for old time's sake. However, I found that the meal didn't live up to what I remembered at the UCity Han Dynasty or the Sichuan food I've had at other spots. My partner and I ordered the dan dan noodles and double cooked pork belly to share, our longtime regular order. The portions were generous and prices were affordable, but both dishes fell short in some ways. The dan dan noodle sauce was mostly sesame-based with little of the chili heat I remembered, and there was only a bit of the ground pork topping. It left me wondering whether they hold off on the spice at this location due to the clientele, whether they changed the recipe, or whether it was just an off day. The pork in the double cooked pork was overcooked and tough, and the dish didn't have enough of the veggie components (leeks and peppers) to balance it out. Another minor nitpick - there was a World Cup game going on while we ate and the multiple downstairs TVs had the game on. The second floor where we were seated also had a nice big TV, yet it seemed to be left on a screensaver slideshow of random landscape photos. Would have been nice to watch the game! I was overall left feeling pretty meh about the meal. I'd give the UCity location another shot, but don't think I'd come back to the Old City one.
