Oedipus rising in "Anywhere" by Theatre L'Entrovert

I love this little theater! I've been to several shows here. All puppet shows in one form or another, despite the diverse showcase they offer. The stage is very intimate, but every show I've seen has made such a dramatic and inspired use of the limited space. Accessibility: Not easily accessible by wheelchair. There are about 3-4 outside stairs, followed by a set of 5 or 6 stairs inside. Some of the shows are performed in the basement. However, if you are in need of accessible SEATS, they do offer a limited number of armless folding chairs, which are a blessing to the larger bottomed audience such as myself. You will have to request them. There are a limited number of bench seats at the front of the stage that do not require any additional stair climbing, though the general admission seats DO require stairs and have the narrow seats with arms as most theaters do. Parking: Street parking in the area if you're lucky, but it is Wicker Park, so you'll want to leave time for that. If you're LUCKY you might find free parking 3-4 blocks away. Or you can go to a matinee like I did and potentially get a spot right out front. They have a small bar, which I've seen both open and closed, so there's no telling whether it will.be available or not. Masks are not required, but they do encourage them. It's a bit of a tight-quarters sort of place. I will definitely keep coming back!

How wonderfully quirky and delightfully strange experience on display at Chopin theater. House of the exquisite corpse is a horror puppet show playing at Chopin theatre and I'm really glad we got to see it. It truly is a unique experience and I wouldn't say that it was scary but it definitely had a creepy factor especially peeping through a peep hole at times. Definitely looking forward to next year's show.

Cool theater experience. I give the theater five stars for the atmosphere, staff, and overall vibe. Beer and Wine are available, and prices so well you can afford to have a few. The show went to see, Harrow House, was not what we expecting, but it looked like the puppeteers put in a lot of hard work to make it happen, so I won't say anything bad about the show, it just wasn't for me. Again, this is a must visit, old school theater, so make your way to the Ukranian Village and check it out.

The perfect venue for the perfect show "The Tennessee Williams Project" that runs till March 2. I hope the show continues till end of the year. The Hypocrites actors are superbly talented. Awesome stage design. Audience interaction/participation is fully integrated into the flow of the show. The audience becomes a part of the show. The photos speak for itself.

Excellent repertoire; warm and interactive performance. Our waiter Brandon was attentive and made excellent menu recommendations. We had the prime rib grilled cheese and the lobster ravioli for dinner. Both were good. Informative and personable. Shared the technical information about each wine with a personable and reflective observation. She made the experience memorable and accessible. I sat at the bar downstairs and can confirm the place has a classic speakeasy feel -- the the basement of a place behind a locked door, very dark inside with mood lighting/glass cases and leather chairs/couches around small low tables. It's definitely a great date spot! I took off a star because it's pricey -- I got the "milk punch" on their classic cocktail menu which was $25 and is pretty small, but it's a nice drink and tasted very much like a milk punch drink I got at a speakeasy back home (in Austin, TX). The bartenders were super nice and provided excellent service, no complaints there! The bathrooms were also immaculate. Overall, this is a very nice speakeasy! I've been to many in my day and the ambiance is definitely on par with the best, but I gotta say some other unique ingredients (ideally more floral options!) would really take their menu up a notch! Nevertheless, I would def rec a visit to those visiting Chicago, and would go again even just for vibes :)

Ambiance is fun at The Wild Hare. The live music in the back room int he evenings are definitely where it's at. I would recommend checking out the event calendar on their website to help pick which day you may want to come. My only complaint is that I really wish the DJ played more reggae in the restaurant. I expected to have a full reggae night, but all the way up until the live band, it was mostly hip hop and R&B with the occasional reggae throwback. Give us more; we came for the reggae vibes!

Having read reviews and menus for All Rise Brewing Co. online, we headed in for beers and dinner, then quickly realized the brewery was no more. No complaints, though--what we found was a laid-back, welcoming bar with plenty of local beer on tap and a menu full of interesting pizzas. We tried some beers, and split a Clam Bake Pizza--that was pretty awesome. Classic cult movies playing on the screens (I hadn't seen Buckaroo Banzai in awhile!) gave the place a little added atmosphere. Our bartender was super cool & helpful. The room got close to full as showtime neared, but was always comfortable. Patrons likely vary depending on what music's playing; this night was shoegaze/goth and the multi-generational crowd looked like fans of those genres. We ended up staying for the night's live show, which was a lineup of four bands (one touring and three local, I think) for a very reasonable price. We could take our drinks from the bar into the venue and/or order more in the lounge space. I wasn't alone, but would've felt safe and comfortable on my own there. The venue's an elevated stage with two sets of steps. There doesn't appear to be any back room; gear and cases were piled in an alcove. The sound and lights were good. Bathrooms were just fine. No seats in the venue, but it's cool to come and go to hang out in the lounge or bar. Cobra Lounge has a small, well-lit parking lot and there's plenty of street parking available too.

Service was top tier. 9.5/10. They genuinely cared about making things right when something went wrong. Our server even covered the forgotten Espresso Martini. The Chocolate Martini (9.5/10) tasted creamy and chocolatey and was dangerously easy to drink. The French Martini (9/10) was fruity and smooth. The Espresso Martini (7/10) was better than a lot I've tried but could've been sweeter and foamier. The Prosecco (9/10) was fantastic. The Fried Chicken Sliders (8/10) were crispy, juicy, and perfectly coated in Nashville hot sauce without being overly spicy or drenched in sauce. The bread was a little firm, which reminded me of Parker house rolls from Trivoli. The Onion Rings (7/10) were crispy and oily with a nice spicy mayo. The Truffle Mafaldine (8/10) was unfortunately room temp, but the al dente pasta, creamy sauce, and truffle bits were heavenly. The Steak & Ale Pot Pie (9/10) was fantastic. Tender brisket, flaky crispy puff pastry, and creamy mash underneath made it feel like short ribs and mash in pie form. The Prime Rib French Dip (8.5/10) had tender, flavorful meat, but the bread was pretty plain and needed more crunch. The Chocolate Layer Cake (6/10) was a little dry and not quite chocolatey enough at first, but it got much better drenched in the hot fudge and paired with the vanilla gelato. Interestingly, when I had the leftover cake straight from the fridge the next morning, it was perfectly moist and much more chocolatey. Overall, great time with amazing cocktails, top-tier service, and solid food. Definitely coming back with a reservation to experience the dining room or library.
