From the moment she arrived, everything felt easy and relaxed. She was organized, friendly, and completely took over the kitchen so we could actually enjoy the evening together. The food was absolutely delicious from start to finish. We started with the Wagyu Tataki with pine smoked ponzu, which was incredible. Chef Grey mentioned she had gathered the pine needles herself during a walk the day before, such a thoughtful touch and everyone loved it. The Kurobuta Pork Belly Kakuni came next and quickly became the favorite of the night. It was perfectly tender with just the right touch of sweetness, and the mustard on the side paired beautifully. The Alpine Tempura Platter with jumbo prawns and mountain vegetables was so good, it did not even need the sauce. For the main course, we enjoyed the Cedar Plank Miso Black Cod. The buttery fish paired perfectly with the crispy grilled rice and sweet soy butter glaze, and the sesame broccolini was cooked just right. Dessert sealed the deal. The White Chocolate and Yuzu Namelaka was super smooth, creamy, and not too sweet. Chef Grey also made a triple berry cake and surprised us with yummy brown butter ice cream that she made herself as a birthday treat. Such a thoughtful touch! Everything was generous in portion size, which we honestly were pleasantly surprised by, and we happily enjoyed leftovers the next day. We have hired private chefs before, and without a doubt, Chef Grey's cooking was the most delicious we have experienced so far. Also, I liked how the designs didn't look familiar to me. I have a good memory for greeting cards that I like and I don't think In Vita is stocked at the places I shop. These aren't letterpress cards but the card stock has a nice texture and a matte finish (I don't like glossy pictures or glossy cards). I like that the cards are simple, blank inside, with geometric designs and 2 or 3 colors maximum on a ecru background. The color choices are pleasing. They come with color coordinated envelopes. I don't always agree with the choice of font (e.g., the font of the "happy day to you" card is busy looking). But that's just my personal preference for clean fonts. My favorite cards from the 2008 line are (1) thank you card with the dark purple and dark yellow blossoms w/ grey dotted lines - nice color combination, unusual too, (2) happy birthday card with lanterns - looks vaguely Asian and the lanterns convey a celebratory feeling without being too obvious, and (3) my very favorite - the happy birthday card with chocolate cupcakes on a tiered cake pedestal - I love cupcakes and cake pedestals. These aren't my favorite cards but I do really like a couple of designs and the prices are reasonable. She also does custom work (wedding invitations, personalized stationery).

The little card and card fork that holds the card in with the flowers are free of charge. Parking can get tricky on holidays. The parking lot is in the back of the store off E Street, and there are only about eight parking spaces back there. Tip: If you like the floral arrangement, you can have them wrap it up without the vase and save $5.
