Whelp, I guess I should have read the reviews in advance, this used to be a decent company. Arrived 2 days late and is SIGNIFICANTLY smaller than the photos online suggest with very cheap looking substitutions. Called to inquire-didn't care that the delivery was late, and was told "we use a recipe." Terrible quality, service, and misleading photos. Try Metcalfs or probably any other place in town. I've known of Chloe's ever since they converted that gas station into their shop on Regent St, but had never used them. I wanted a really great bouquet for my husband's landmark birthday so I thought I would used a well-established florist. I foolishly didn't check reviews. I thought I went all out on the bouquet but when it arrived, it was a nice little display of flowers. Not awful, but totally underwhelming. When I chose the larger option, I thought it would be at least a good as the photo (same photo for each size???). The effect was that it looked like I cheaped out on his big day. I just had one of the rudest and meanesr conversations with 'John' based on their delivery of a lesser value item than what I ordered. I spent $185 for an item shown for sale on their website - a lovely stone urn with multi color orchids. My mother received one color orchids and a white wicker basket that looked like it was $2 from a discount store. When I called to complain I was told to order ahead of time and not to expect what the picture shows. Who- the rudest place in Madison! I called to order flowers. Because I own a flower shop I know that it is difficult lately to obtain the flowers listed in some of the FTD arrangements. I started the conversation with, Hi, I was wondering if you have the flowers to make X arrangement. I didn't even get a chance to ask for something different, the woman said, "NO, skip us. Call someone else" Really????? How about letting me ask what you DO have, so I can give a local place some business!!!! I couldn't believe it. Maybe that's the difference between a small town florist like myself and the big city places. We care about our customer service and want to help if we can. I would give this negative stars if I could. To say Choles Floral fails miserably in product quality and customer service (read all of the other reviews that echo my displeasure), would be a gross understatement. I ordered a "deluxe" version of a bouquet for my daughter to mark the birth of her fist child. What she received was anything but deluxe. Not only was it far smaller with about half (if that) the flowers noted in the "deluxe" photo, the flowers that did arrive were of very poor quality. Ok, sometimes things happen. But the really appalling part of this experience occurred when I contacted the company to express my disappointment and anger at the misrepresentation. I was met with this response (if anyone doubts it, I have the original emails): " "The lilies are fresh and will open like the picture -   the picture shown is the premium version - with all the flowers facing one direction.  The value was there -  not a misrepresentation, but the value was there." See photo of ad. Clearly says "deluxe" - the photo changes as you switch between versions. I've also attached a photo of photo of what I received. Ok, that was rude. When I responded to say how shocked I was at the response and that it told me all I needed to know about their business and that I would be sure to share this experience, I was met with an even worse response. "Amazed how much time you spend threatening with reviews....From your first note, this was a no-win situation." (Again, I have the original emails to verify.) Please choose another business. There are many great florists in the Madison area. I chose this one because of it's proximity to Meriter Hospital. If you are looking to brighten someone's day PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, select another business. As for their comment about the time spent to make others aware of this, yes, it is an investment in time, but bad businesses are banking on people not taking the time to file complaints and write reviews. Very disappointing. My mom was having surgery at Meriter Hospital (a hop skip & jump away from Chole's) and I called the day before to arrange an afternoon delivery. (She checked in day of surgery.) Even though I specifically requested and afternoon or early evening delivery, they called me at 10:30am and said there was no listing of her at Meriter. I explained she was just checking in, and they guy told me "no problem - we can deliver later" but sadly nothing had been delivered by 5pm. When I called to follow-up, was told that they had already been delivered. I called a THIRD time around 7pm when I had been told they never arrived to reach a phone bank far away from Madison who had no idea what the status was... The following morning I called (a fourth time) to be told they would go out today, no apology. The long and the short of it is that my mother did not receive her bouquet after coming out of surgery, and no one seems to care. Horrible customer service. I specifically used Chole's as I wanted to go with a local florist, and know they have been in Madison for decades, but I guess better to go with a 1-800-Flowers florist in the future? Ordered a bouquet for my kindergartener's birthday since I was out of town. The bouquet was not delivered on the date requested, and as a result my wife had to drive in to the florist to pick it up. The florist in the shop was rude both on the phone and in person, and the arrangement was vastly different than what was advertised, and not in a good way. I had ordered this via FTD.com and they could not trace the order when I spoke with a customer representative. Overall thumbs down on the whole experience. When I lived in Madison, Choles was an excellent florist. I don't know who's running it now, but I've never experienced such horrendous customer service. I ordered roses for my daughter's 21st birthday. She missed the delivery and called to reschedule. This was on a Friday. No one answered all afternoon or on Saturday, and they have no answering machine. Finally got a hold of someone on Monday. Incredibly disappointed. My office ordered a vase of flowers for the University of Wisconsin -Madison student memorial service, honoring those who have passed away this year. The flowers were delivered untrimmed, not arranged, and without a vase. I then called to let the florist know we had not received the vase and was met with a rude and patronizing tone. Instead of apologizing for the error and offering to deliver a complimentary vase, the florist told me "We can go round and round on this," and insisted I pay for their mistake. This place has the absolute worst customer service I've ever encountered. Flowers were supposed to be delivered on Friday (I paid 35$ extra to 1800flowers for same day delivery) Choles called and left a message that said, "actually, no we will deliver them Saturday before 2" ..I waited at home all day (had to cancel appointments) Saturday and they never came- even after I called to ask what was going on 3 times! To make it even worse- they confirmed with 1800 flowers that the flowers were delivered on Friday so that their obligation to 1800 flowers would be fulfilled. I called them Monday morning and the old lady on the phone had an extremely nasty attitude and put me on hold immediately after I explained what the issue was- no apology or will to start to rectify the problem but she did raise her voice and say rude things while I was still on the phone. I finally spoke with someone helpful who made sure that flowers would be delivered within an hour (nice delivery man) however, it's was a much smaller bouquet than I had ordered, and they were dead not even 2 days later. I ordered through Madisonflowers.com, and this is the place that fulfilled that order. I ordered for it to be delivered on December 26th, not knowing that they would be closed. They called and asked if the next day delivery would be okay, and I said yes. I live in a different state, but I ordered these for a friend, and put my phone number down, as the flowers were a surprise. The day they were supposed to be delivered, I got a call, no voicemail. I called back and explained my friend would be back at 2pm that day, and asked if they could be delivered then. Although they said yes, they were not delivered that day, but early the following morning. I got an angry phone call from the delivery guy, who was frustrated she was not there and that he couldn't call her. I asked him to leave the flowers at the desk of the apartment, and when she picked them up it looked NOTHING like the order I placed. Instead of blooming flowers, it was only 4 roses and some leaves. $50 for something that looked nothing like the bouquet I ordered. I don't usually think of flowers as a great gift, but a few months ago a family emergency took my boyfriend out of the country for almost two months (which included Valentine's Day). He called on February 12th and Choles' florist assured him that despite the short notice, she'd make sure to have roses delivered to my office. I came back from a meeting the next morning to see a dozen gorgeous red roses waiting for me. When asked what I wanted, I said the Mother's Day arrangement on their web site. She said they can't deal with something that specific, would do something with flower's on hand. For years I've ordered flowers and arrangements from Choles for my mom. This year I ordered her flowers, an arrangement for $100 for mothers Day. I asked for it to be the "florists choice" as in the pst their work was beautiful. My mom sent me a picture of the arrangement, it had four daisies and some freesia. I was super disappointed. I will not be ordering from them again. The arrangement shouldn't have been so sparse and sharply done. Had I not received a picture I would never have known what a waste of money that purchase was. The flowers were pretty and the free same-day delivery to the Madison area is nice. However, their customer service is severely lacking, and if you're in the flower business, there is no excuse to be anything but excellent at customer service. The woman who answers the phone is quite rude - I've read other reviews saying the same thing. A good business needs a really pleasant, welcoming person to answer the phone (assuming you want to make a good first impression for your customers) - But that is not a priority here. Also, the delivery person called the recipient directly when she didn't answer the door the first time (which is understandable), but the recipient found that the delivery people were annoyed with HER for not answering the door. It's one thing to call the recipient to make sure that the flowers are delivered correctly and that they are home, but it's another to be annoyed with them on the phone! It wouldn't have been hard for the delivery person to be friendly while telling the recipient he had flowers for her. It was her birthday, and feeling like a company is blaming her for not knowing about her surprise isn't exactly what she wanted to deal with today. I called the business back to talk to them about this concern and was answered very shortly and then hung up on before I could ask another question. The employees here really do not prioritize customer service. I would recommend paying a little extra for delivery at another company to make sure that your recipient receives friendly service on their special day. read more
