Victoria's Garden

I was really nervous about choosing flowers for my wedding. I know nothing about flowers, and I…read morehave heard how quickly the price adds up (especially with how big our bridal party was). My mother-in-law heard about Victoria's Garden from a friend, and since she was paying for the flowers, I was happy to go wherever she wanted. I am so thankful to the person that recommended Victoria's Garden to us. I had no idea what I wanted for flowers, I told Ellie my wedding colors (green and white) and her creativity immediately went to work. We gave her a price range and she made it her mission to stay well under that. I had mentioned a few types of flowers I liked, she told me that they weren't in season and would be more expensive. Instead of just going with those types and charging us more, Ellie found flowers that were in season that were similar to the ones I liked. Everything was perfect on my wedding day. Ellie and her crew showed up before the wedding and put everything together just like we had talked about. None of us even saw them working, it was like we showed up and everything was magically put together. Please go to Victoria's Garden if you're planning a wedding. You will be thoroughly impressed at this gem tucked away in Mount Horeb.

My daughter and her husband hired Victoria's Garden (Ellie) to provide flowers for their September…read more2014 wedding. They said (and I agree) that they could not have made a better choice (and there are many florists in the Madison area to choose from). Ellie listened to everything they wanted and really understood their vision. She understood their budget and helped them make decisions to fit within their price range. She even picked flowers from her own garden so their bouquets fit that budget. She needed no instruction on their wedding day. She did everything exactly how they asked (or better) and knew when to use her own judgment to make everything beautiful and perfect. Quality was amazing - many of the flowers were still spectacular 2-3 weeks (including the wedding bouquet which spent some time in our refrigerator while they were on their honeymoon) after the wedding date. Since almost all these words are theirs and not mine, I want to add that, the results were spectacular and personal at the same time. Autumn was a challenge given the types of flowers they most wanted but Ellie made it happen!

Such a cool shop! I must confess that I was around twelve the first time I visited Open House…read moreImports and a stop there has become a pretty routine part of my family visits to Mount Horeb- but totally worth it! They seem yo have a little bit of everything gift related that's Scandinavian. I've bought beautiful ceramic Christmas ornaments there and even my wedding jewelry. This last trip I found the most unique watercolor books for my son and his cousin as well as a cookie cutter in the shape of a cat- this Christmas our sugar cookies will be shaped like our kitty! They have beautiful sweaters and children's books and a variety of Nordic sweets as well. They're also really nice and helpful- although a lovely place to shop!

I LOVE this store!  Being 100% Norwegian, I'm always looking for Norwegian items, food stuffs,…read morerestaurants, etc., to remind me of my heritage.  This Scandinavian store is inside an adorably decorated house.  Rosemal painted doorway (it looks like a dollhouse), 2 large trolls on the grass and a little Scandinavian wooden house on the lawn - great detail! Once I was inside, my husband looked quickly into each of the rooms and came back and said, "I think we're going to be here a while!!"  haha!  He knows I be spending a lot of time there... They have everything you can imagine (except Lutefisk! - but that's fine with me, I didn't want any!!!). There is clothing, food, candy, cooking utensils, home décor, furniture, Christmas decorations, and so much more.  Not only do they have Scandinavian items, they have German gifts too. There were samples of a traditional Scandinavian almond cake out for people to try, and it was SO good.  I ended up buying an almond cake pan of my own so I can make it myself.  After searching the whole place for the perfect rosemal-decorated almond cake serving tray, I found one up at the cashier.  She was just about to put it on display, but I snatched it up before she could! I ended up buying an almond cake pan, a cake serving tray, 6 chocolate bars (Melkesjokolade - best chocolate bars everrrr), and a Norge sticker for my car.  I hope to be back in the area again someday, with LOTS more money.
