BLUF: Put this on your list of things to do in the Dells, especially if you do a shopping day!…read more FANtastic! A mall of marvelous local crafters selling their creations. We started our shopping day here, and it did not disappoint. We have been to the one in Branson, MO, but we felt this one is even better. There is also an Antique Mall, nice little cafe, and an AWESOME wood carver. This place is like an Etsy Mall of America! We scored a very nice, patriotic table runner for us to use in the summer. Plus, we found a gorgeous U.S. Navy cribbage board that doubles as wall art (round U.S. Navy seal). BONUS: They had Christian music playing for us to enjoy while shopping, and there were plenty of faith-based and conservative craft offerings. TIP: Check out the Game crafter. While we did not buy one, the crafter has really cool "Lawn Washers" games. They take all forms of payment, which makes it convenient if you din't carry cash.

From the outside the store doesn't look very big, but the store extends very far back. The staff have always been cheerful & they do a great job wrapping up your gifts at the counter if they ask. It feels great to support a local business too. Parking is limited to the marked street parking on the Square but there's usually a spot. If not, just a block away is a large parking lot & it's a short stroll over to the store. I highly recommend this business for shopping local or just popping in to uplift your spirits!

At the same time, it makes it really easy to stop by Uptown Trading when you're already downtown for something else. Look for it across the street from Macs or down the street from Swiss Maid Fudge. Inside, you'll find a treasure trove of random little trinkets. Honestly, the whole shop is trinkets - but not in a bad way. They aren't your standard "Wisconsin Dells Fare" that you'll find in most stores around town. Instead, they're different types of items that seem more like collectibles instead of garbage or "funny gifts". They have small statues (ducks, birds, horses, wolves, planes, etc.), lots of personalized name products (spoons, knives, etc.), toys for kids, stuffed animals, collectibles, cast iron figures, clocks, dream catchers, cedar boxes, and so much more. They just have a lot of decor items you could use around your home. While most of it isn't too "functional", if you want a neat reminder from the Dells that doesn't look like every other store you visited, this is a good place to shop. The prices are super reasonable too. It's surprising. I walked out with 5 items for less than $17. That's basically all of the "Bring back an item from the Dells!" shopping I had to do in one place. If you're buying larger items, they go up into the $20's or $30s, but for most of the decorative items and trinkets, you're looking at least than $6 each. Great prices - especially for a town that's known for tourism. The staff was super helpful here too. Surprisingly so. I wasn't entirely sure about some things about a couple items, and she was happy to answer any of my questions. When I was purchasing one of their trinkets, she took it out of the box and pointed out a flaw on the item - then found another box until she found one that flawless for me. She was really sweet and didn't have to take that much time for me. She was really helpful and nice. It did take awhile to get checked out (because they seem to do hand-written receipts and have an old cash register), but they DO accept credit cards, and the process was really smooth. It was generally a good store to shop in. It doesn't have a lot of the cheesy "tourist" items that most stores do, and it has a clear "small business" feel to it that makes it different than most of the mass-produced stores in the Dells. I'd definitely come back.
