This store has literally been here forever and I remember it from my childhood. I have a suspicion that this store has been severely hurt by the pandemic, the economy, tight labor market and the invasion of water parks. My recent visit consisted of: friendly welcoming faces working here, relatively reasonable prices, and severely empty store shelves. The place was clean, albeit old. This is a must stop whenever we are in the Dells. I have been coming here for 60 years! And in those 60 years, it has changed very little - which I love. There is so much history here. You will gain a lot of respect for Native Americans. The staff is very accommodating. We always buy nice things here, including locally Native American-made baskets and silver jewelry. I always love the handmade rings I buy here. Every time I come here, it brings back so many memories. read more

While I applaud Parson's contribution to the history of the Dells and Native American culture, the staff is not very engaging with customers about sharing their knowledge. We stop every time we're in the Dells and always try to buy something-jewelry or pottery or moccasins. read more

I was so happy to see Parson's was still there this Summer. Please don't ever close down permanently. It's a must do stop every time we're in the Dells. My family has been going for generations, since the 1940's. Inventory was a little lower this season due to Covid, but they still had a selection to find a couple t-shirts, jewelry, and toys. The museum is still there and really cool to show the kids. It's a great spot to take vacation pictures too, especially by the teepee. A destination to remember. It hasn't changed much in 25+ years (which can be good & bad). But it is a landmark, and though it isn't as bright & shiny as a lot of the touristy shops are.. it has meaning and interest. It is like a distant relative that we love to always visit when in town. read more

I give this place 2 stars because all the think they have there are really cool and interesting, lots of history. But costumer service is really bad.. we got there at 8:35pm, we wanted moccasins for my little girl, so they had a huge sign that says we are open, and a little sign you can barely see that says we close at 8:50... it was 8:45 when they start giving us dirty looks and talking loud to each other saying we close in 5, we decide to walk to the exit, but it was already close!... when we got out a lady slam the door behind us... This place was directly across the street from our hotel, and after reading "Chris W."'s review, of course I wanted to see it so badly! There are two sides of the shop - it's divided in half. It is FILLED with memoribilia from the times when Native Americans performed ceremonies... there are pictures, donated crafts in glass cases, etc. It really is overwhelming when you walk in, because there is so much to see. I could have spent hours in there just marveling at all of the history and culture. Teachers like me would like the maps of the Native American tribes and where they settled in the USA. It has everything from rain sticks and gems on one side... to scorpion paperweights, rattlesnake tail keychains, salt and pepper shakers, and cheap plastic toys on another. There is SO MUCH to take in. My boyfriend and I left with a triangle peg board game and a few beaded bracelets (which, actually, the Caucasian-looking women behind the counter were making when I purchased mine). read more

Dear owners of Parsons Indian trading co, We were incredibly impressed with the authenticity and diversity of your products. We were happy to purchase a handful of unique items from your store as gifts for ourselves and our friends. However, we will never be back again unfortunately, nor would we recommend it to others. We had a horrible experience being there. In fact, it was one of the worst customer service/store representative experiences of our life because of our interaction with your employee Larry. He was downright mean, unhelpful and extremely rude to us for no reason. It was so extreme and disheartening that we even tried talking to him about it to understand why he was being so mean. As you can see, we're not big Yelp reviewers. However, we had such an awful experience with Larry that it didn't seem fair not to share. We value Yelps review system very much. It's seems pretty obvious that Larry does not like people (or at least that's how he came across to us) ...perhaps he's in the wrong job. This Parson's Indian Trading Post (370 Wisconsin Dells Pkwy, Wisconsin Dells, WI 53965) is a very nice gift and novelty items shop in the Wisconsin Dells. They have good quality items including handmade collectibles, jewelry, toys, collectibles, and much more. Items are nice quality at reasonable prices. The store is very clean and organized. They have a nice selection of leather moccasins. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Bathroom is available in the museum attached to the post. I recommend you visit this store. read more

I've read the reviews and can say I didn't experience anything but the mothballs. It was an older store but filled with many cool things and books. I wish it were closer to my home so I could spend more time checking it out. read more

I've been going to the Dells for about 6-7 yrs now. Every time we visit, we check out the Indian Trading Post. Very interesting store with tons of historical information. The other side has touristy things and fun toys for the kids. Very charming store where I am guaranteed to spend over and hour. I bought a turquoise bracelet. Silver. Very pretty. Cost me $60. It was broken within two weeks. Now that I think about it, most of the things either myself, or my kids have bought have become broken. Yes, the friendship bracelets are nice but that's more up my children's alley. Besides, you can get those bracelets at the mall. My husband just doesn't shop there stating its not an authentic Indian Trading Post. :( read more

They have some incredible pieces, really old and authentic stuff. I had my eye on a Mandan shirt, which was a few thousand dollars--money I had ready to spend. Unfortunately, the two guys working there didn't want to talk to me at all so I left it there. They also have a lot of antique pieces on display that aren't for sale. For some reason, they get really touchy if you even start talking to them or asking about it, like they're worried the customer is investigating them for feathers or antiquities, when really my family and I just wanted to know more about the pieces they'd put in their display cases anyway. It was sort of a "hey, what's the big idea of you showing interest in the stuff we've put there for you to see?" vibe. Oh, for those who wrote reviews and mentioned the smell: that's normal. It's mothballs, and those are commonly used in places that have a lot of vintage hides, furs, and feathers, to keep them safe. I actually kinda like that scent because it connects in my memories to being around really old, traditional heirlooms like 19th-century beadwork, quillwork, braintan, etc. read more

The folks at the trading post were very rude. They accused our kids of trying to shoplift sunglasses because they were looking at them and stuck them atop their heads for a minute. Considering my kids have turned in other shoplifters on other occasions and have high integrity, the fact they were considered criminals by the staff is unforgivable. Will not visit this store again. read more

Museum AND a shop. It's awesome. The place used to be able to tell you where the Indian ceremonial dances were, but alas, times have changed. Luckily this place is still here. I don't know anywhere else you'd be able to shop around for this size collection of dream catchers, worry dolls, animal skulls, handwoven jewelry and clothing, moccasins and a lot of other beautifully hand crafted trinkets I can't even begin to describe. Aside from the more authentic item sold they also have other more touristy post cards mood rings and jewelry, shot glasses and other neat items which are still a lot cooler than a lot of the other shops that are around. read more

Best product, best prices! This is a two part store, and both sides are have their own charm. From authentic Indian dress to cute souveniers, they have it all. They also have an incredible jewelry selection with very knowledgebale staff. A trip to Parson's Indian trading post has become a family tradition whenever we're in the Dells. I love this place. I have been going to this shop for 20 years. The auroma in the store is fantastic. The cedar wood is so nice to smell. They have Indian (Native American) jewlery hand made you can buy. They have a large selection of novely toys and keep sake items. They have cool knives and of course moccasins which they are well know for. The prices are sligtly above average, just slightly, but their selection is much better. This is an absolute must visit if you are in the dells. The have a 10% off coupon in the dells book for your entire purchase. read more

Very Interesting and Authentic!! It is a museum of Indian artifacts...in cases, hanging from the ceiling, on racks. A canoe, beaded moccasins, clothing, carved amulets by Indian artists and touristy junk just for fun. Then you have the silver jewery, beads and more. I bought quite a few turquoise, coral and silver pieces. You can spend hours here looking at everything piece by piece. Also a wonderful place to buy postcards of Indians famous and not, Western figures and the history of the west. There are books and reference material. It is a must for the visitor as there is something for everyone. I was really impressed. I was working in Baraboo in 2005 and besides the Ho-Chunk Casino I have Parson's on my list to revisit. This was probably the best souvenir shop in Wisconsin Dells..... 100 years ago! Would make a neat museum, but is probably time to roll up the mat and call it a day. A lot of interesting stuff, but nothing worth purchasing. read more

I loved this place as a kid. I got a drum with the rubber top and I would beat the crap out of that thing. Now I took my kids to see the place. First impression something smells real bad there. Not like a fart bad but like a odd chemical opened to possible kill an infestation or prevent people from coming back into the store (or ever leaving). Next off if I'm in an Indian store shouldn't someone be Indianish? No one except a lot of retired people barely able to walk. The store was kind of a hodge podge of oddness. The prices were right on some stuff and pretty pricey on other stuff, I know this is the dells and the dollar menu at Taco Bell is $1.50 but come on have some decency people. The building is old but that's part of the charm. Everything else is lacking. I didn't go in the museum so not going to comment on that. Overall disappointed and will not go back, at least I don't think I will. read more

Lyndi L. I, too, have been to the Dells for the past 20 years. I love Parsons' Trading Post. If you're looking for beads for regalia, fringe for shawls, etc., this is the place to find it. I attend the yearly pow wow held in September. It's one of my yearly, favorite vacation spots in the fall of the year. If you're looking for beautiful, fine silver jewelry, you'll find something you like in one part of the store. There is something for everyone at this trading post. There is so much to do in the Dells, you won't be bored, that's for sure. The Wisconsin River is beautiful in the fall of the year, also. It's a nice get-a-way for a weekend of leisure, fun and enjoyment. I think Parsons' Trading Post is one reason people coming back to the Dells. I have met some really nice people from the area as well. Again, it's a good vacation spot for everyone. read more

We came to the Indian Trading post to show my 13 year old and 7 year old daughters some of my native heritage. The store is mainly comprised on native american trinkets, jewelry and toys.I did notice the store had an odd smell to it.... Not sure if this was the stuff inside or the staff...... =) as we looked around I noticed that the gentelman in the back was staring at us while we walked around and looked at the items which was kind of uncomfortable. My girls decided on two mood rings at the front of the store where an older lady was working and helping us with prices.. She was nice enough. A younger woman came up and imediately yelled at my 7 year old as her back bumped into a mirror near the rings she was looking at. It was very clearly an accident and not because she was messing around by any means. My girlfriend and I looked at each other with a bit of shock as it seemed rather harsh and out of line. My oldest brought up both rings and the younger woman was there to ring her up. She was not friendly whatsoever and since I gave my card to my oldest daughter (as i was literally 7 feet away) she yells, "im gonna need an ID". so I set an ID on the counter and continued shopping when she yet again yelled across the counter "Your gonna need to sign for this" in a very rude tone. At this point we were rather fed up with her rude attitude and lack of consideration for the customers in the store. I walked up looked her in the face and told her she was extremely rude and to forget the sale. We left without buying the merchandise we wanted and went to "Souvineers from around the world" where they were nice enough to keep the store open until we were done shopping. Needless to say our excitement was really cut short about the indian trading post and I will NEVER SHOP THERE AGAIN!. read more
