My fat son was requesting he receives his fifth Chinese takeout this week, to which I complied. I cannot fight him, he bellyflops me if I attempt to. He is much too large to argue with now. So I ordered from Choi's Kitchen to get his chicken bhuna, lamb bhuna, prawn bhuna, mushroom rice, a bag of chips, keema naan, and nine poppadoms. When it arrived, the plastic curry sauce container had exploded, fully coating the inside of the plastic bag. And that wasn't even the worst of it. While unpacking this vile mess, I felt half the containers were cold. Nobody wants a chilly Chinese. By the time I had taken out half the order, my son ran over and stole the bag from me, so I let him take it. I didn't want to deal with that. Later on, he came scurrying back with tears in his eyes. Not only did he show me an entire chicken buried in his chicken bhuna, but there was also egg shells in it too. I tried to console him, saying maybe this is a reason to stop eating Chinese. But, to my surprise, he continued eating this diabolical chicken bhuna right in front of me! He loved it! His happy tears warmed my heart, so, unfortunately... first time I've used this Takeaway food, horrific pancake, rolls to doughy 99% bamboo shoots no meat no prawns just a few five in a millimetre square cubes of chicken. Totally bland. Had to throw it away. Ordered special curry. Only one in my life I've ordered where are you don't get prawns just chicken and beef!! special fried rice with brown hard small obviously not fresh rice! tasteless meats on top with a tacky barbecue sauce. Absolutely dreadful. Don't touch this place with a bargepole even after phoning after I'd had delivery of the food he was not listening to my feedback and said he would have a word with the chef, I suggest they haven't got a chef or at least need to sack the one they've got. I order a takeaway on a weekly basis. Unfortunately the GOLDEN VALLY at Westfield which was by far the most premium takeaway ever and has recently been taken over by new owners and have had bad feedback since , also the new owners of the GOLDEN VALLY do not take cards who the fuck carries cash these days! In my search to find a decent Chinese on the Yeovil area I finally decided to try here. The service was good and efficient. However the food was really not anywhere near the 5 star mark I'm looking for. I ordered satay chicken on a skewer, a kung po chicken and a pork chow mein. The satay sauce was weak in flavour yet extremely sweet. The chicken on the skewers was gelatinous and rubbery. The hall mark of cheap high water content import. The Kung po was also a similar affair. The chicken was like jelly balls. I kept having to bite pieces in half because I couldn't believe they were cooked! BUT THEY WERE (thankfully). As for the chow mein. Initially I had high hopes as it looked dry and I prefer my noodles dry fried and not greasy. Sadly though as I dug deep the oils had settled and a sort of beansprout flavoured (kinda ditchwater) gravy saturated the bottom of the tray. The meat though perfectly acceptable wasn't very flavoursome which is also a shame because that's why I go for the pork. Usually that tang of five spices proves I'm an easy please, however there was barely a hint :( I hate having spent 5 years working behind the counter in a top notch Chinese takeaway. First time dining at Choi's. Ordered the mixed vegetables with shrimp. Asked for a side of brown rice which caused the restaurant much confusion. They have every type of fried rice you could dream of, but only white steamed rice. Portion sizes are generous and food was tasty. Complimentary spring rolls were a nice bonus! read more
