DO NOT EVEN BOTHER GETTING A QUOTE. They did work for us last year, and now as I'm looking for some more, bigger jobs to be done for my home, they came up as local options and it occurred to me I totally forgot to review them on their job last year! Totally RUDE and unprofessional owner and team. They were messy, left cigarette butts EVERYWHERE. We are STILL finding nails all over the yard and flower beds. The owner made suggestions based on what would make him the most money, not based on what was best for our actual home. When we had him (his crew) come back out to redo SEVERAL things they had done wrong, the owner tried to reason his way out of it or make excuses. No. You are being paid to do a job. I had so many issues it is hard to even know where to start. This company is run very poorly. I called several times and they didn't get back to me. They could not clearly make plans to do the work, or then come back to complete it. I was very taken with their personnel at first, which is why I bothered to continue trying to use their services. Then came the day the work was to actually be done. I'd made arrangements to have someone at my house, as I had to work. Steve showed up late, was smoking and chatting it up, was rude, and then left early with the job undone blaming the losing the light- and all without communicating with myself or the office about when to finish up the work. I arrived home around 4:30pm with the sun still up and he had been gone for 30 minutes. He had left my house and product exposed to the elements to be soiled, he had messed up my lights, and he had taken away the old hardware that I had expressed I wanted to retain. I called the office, absolutely irate. And I spoke to the receptionist, Holly, and Seth, one of the managers, and I was apologized to, and they promised to fix everything, and made excuses for Steve's unprofessional behavior and asked me to take another day off because Steve left to go hunting up north. After speaking with both of them, Seth and I discussed them coming on black Friday to finish the work. They scheduled Steve to come back the week earlier on accident. I happened to be home sick to receive him, but it was inconvenient and unpleasant as I was already dealing with being sick. The work was finally completed, and looks decent, but is considerably overpriced for a primed door. I would never recommend this company and I want everyone to know how poor my experience was. DON'T make the WRONG CHOICE! If your idea of a non-stressful home remodel is hiring a contractor that takes 120 DAYS to complete a 5 DAY job, cuts every corner possible to put more money in his pocket, hires subpar inexperienced handymen to do the work, rips off senior citizens by charging insane prices , and has to be watched every step of the way....then Paul, owner of Choice Home Improvement is your guy! Unfortunately, my dad hired Choice to do a half of a bathroom remodel. Paul charged my dad $7K to install a new vanity and floor! I didn't know until they began the work that my dad had contracted with Choice, and quickly found out what a bad experience this was going to be. I contacted Paul and told him he was ripping my dad off (who is a senior). I asked him who charges $7Kto install a vanity and floor? Well, Paul does. Paul told me what a "great guy" he is and he does great work. Well, he doesn't do any work, he hires it out to low quality, inexperienced handymen who don't show up for weeks at a time. Paul also explained that he charges these prices because he has business expenses to pay, such as on his building (that is no longer in Garden City), and insurance he needs to cover his employees (whom he doesn't have, as he subcontracts these out to handymen looking for an after work jobs). So for $7K, my dad got a guy who MIGHT stop by after his day job (after 5:30 pm). From ordering wall tile for the floor, to ordering the wrong size vanity, to very shoddy workmanship, to taking WEEKS to pull plumbing and electrical permits, this job has been nothing but a nightmare. Many phone calls with Paul, reminding Paul to follow up on things, reminding Paul that after 90 days of my dad sitting around waiting for his handymen to show up, he needed to provide dates and times when they would be there. When we realized his handyman was not qualified to do plumbing or electrical, we demanded he pull permits with the City. Paul never intended to pull any permits, even though it is in his contract to do so. He wanted us to allow the plumber and electrician to do their work before pulling the permits. We waited weeks to get permits pulled. City of Livonia inspectors came over multiple times to inspect the lack of work, and sent Choice a violation to 6623 Middlebelt for not pulling a permit. The letter was returned to the city as unable to deliver. We consulted an attorney and provided them with detailed information on this circus. The attorney told us to mail him a breach of contract in writing, which we did on July 10. We sent the letter certified thru USPS, since the City's letter was returned undeliverable, we thought there would be an issue with his business address. Our letter was also deemed undeliverable, unable to forward. We called Paul and told him we mailed him a letter to his Middlebelt address and it came back undeliverable. He told me he didn't have his business there anymore and is now at his home in Northville. I asked why he didn't have his mail forwarded, he said he thought he did. Then I asked him why his contract and website still has his Middlebelt Road address, he stated he was working with his website person to have it changed. As of Sept 21, he still has not changed his website address. Paul told us how hard it was to get plumbers and electricians to come do these "small" jobs and he had to call in "favors". It took 2 plumbers 6 hours to move the plumbing. Didn't seem like the small job that Paul said it was, or wanted it to be by doing a half-assed job. His handyman quit, he didn't do much work. He always brought someone with him when any work was done, which made us question his ability to do the work. Paul brought in a 2nd handyman, who was only paid for 2 days, so rushed through things at the end. Paul had to repaint the walls as he was done paying for handymen. In the end, Paul had to finish the work, including sealing the white grout on the floor. That grout is now yellow, and when you wash the floor, the grout crumbles. You would think the owner would do a better job than his handymen. So after 120 days of misery, my dad just paid him the remainder of the money to get rid of him. The quality of work was extremely poor. After 3 weeks, the floor tile has marks on it that don't come out, the white grout on the floor is yellow, there is paint on the vanity that cannot be removed, there is paint spots all over the countertop and mirror. The door that closed perfectly before Paul and his handymen took it off, does not close properly now. Paul isn't the "good guy" he wants you to believe. Paul could care less about his customers or his handymen. I have to give 1 star to make the review, but 0 stars are more than he deserves. I hope that people truly take this review to heart and look elsewhere for an honest, ethical contractor to do the work for them. read more

Completed new roofwork on a friends house at the end of summer last year. They "conveniently forgot to use ice shield or repair underlying wood that was rotten and did not bridge the existing roof to addition. $$$ in damage and the owner wants to charge TRIPLE the original cost to repair the work that is still under warranty....Disgraceful! read more

I would not recommend and would advise not to use. I hired them to do a porch repair and it was a nightmare w/shoddy work that I had to argue to get fixed, I had a door blocked in w/cement blocks. The next step was for the crew to fill in behind the door, then pour cement. I had to stop them from doing this as you could literally see threw the mortar on the cement blocks they installed. If you do end up using them, make sure every little detail is in the quote it appears their favorite saying "is it in the quote". In my case, the quote said "replace porch rails" to them that did not mean the porch steps, while they eventually did replace them. It was a discussion that should not have had to happen. The crew also knocked off several stones from my stone-faced wall while repairing my porch. The first thing out of Choice Home Improvements project manager was "it doesn't say in the quote that we are responsible for damages". Again, they did repair but not worth hassle and aggravation. Finally, back to the porch rails, we were sold by the sample that was shown to us that were heavy aluminum white powder coated welded rails. The crap that they installed was light weight, spray painted, and welded horribly. Some of the rails are only partially welded on and are pitted w/holes from being burned in the welding process. As the quote only said white aluminum rails, did not state sizes, we had no recourse but to accept. read more

I don't even want to give them one star and here is why. They did my roof a few years back, I overpaid but I needed it done. The first time it rained, my roof leaked. Did they come out and fix it, sure. I just recently requested a quote to get my garage done and they agreed to do it for $1600 based on size and shingles to match my roof, fine. It was reasonable based on three other quptes. I also, in the mean time, requested a quote on my bathroom which the "owner" came out to do himself. He was extremely arrogant and off putting, a horrible salesman. He spent more time telling what he wasn't going to do rather than make me feel confident in their quality of work. His bathroom quote was so ridiculous, I almost laughed in his face and asked him to leave but I suffered through it because I still wanted my garage roof done. This morning his son arrived to have me sign a contract for the garage and informed me that he misquoted the garage and the new quote was $2100, a $500 increase. What a bunch of douchebags! Find anyone else to do your work other than these crooks. read more

I found Choice Home Improvement via advertisement in the Val-Pak mailer. They sounded reputable and offered $1,000 off a completed roof. I called and scheduled an estimate for a new roof. The woman on the phone was very pleasant and offered up information on their number of years in the business and expertise. She even provided me the names of the four guys that would potentially show up. Unfortunately, that was where my satisfaction ended. Paul Masiarczyk, the owner, was the man to show up for the estimate. He seemed to be in a hurry and rushed through walking the front yard looking at the roof from the lawn. He went to his truck and hastily wrote up the estimate. When I presented him with the Val-Pak ad/coupon, he said his price took all promotional discounts into account. The estimate was $4,800...$1,200 more than the company I went with. Choice Home Improvement didn't even bother to explain the quality of materials he would be using. It was later from another estimate from another company that I discovered he quoted me GAF asphalt roofing tiles... one of the the cheapest materials if not THE cheapest. I was very dissatisfied that the coupon was brushed aside and that his estimate was 25% higher than my lowest estimate with better quality materials. I hired Choice to do my roof install. They showed up when they said they would, worked quickly and cleaned up well. My new roof looks great and the leaking issue I had is completely gone! I would highly recommend working with them. read more
