I found a groupon for Mary and decided to give it a try. She was so warm and welcoming from the first time I talked with her. We set up an appointment, where she explained electrolysis 101 and got started right away. She is incredibly knowledgeable and skilled!! It was so nice to have someone explain the entire process to me, what exactly she'd be doing and how it works to get rid of hair. (Side note: did you know that electrolysis is the only *permanent* hair removal method?? Not laser! I had no idea.) Mary's Fort Mill studio is clean, simply and beautifully decorated, and is designed to put you at ease. I think she also has a home office, but it's further from me so I haven't been there. Ok, I'll be honest here: electrolysis is no walk in the park. It hurts like a b*tch. But Mary is so sweet and will adjust the settings to make sure it's manageable for you. She also has numbing cream you can buy in sample packs for a small fee. Plus, Mary is quick! So even though it's painful, she gets a lot done in a short amount of time. Electrolysis is a commitment. During my first appointment, Mary warned me that it's a process and I needed to trust the process. After more than 20 sugaring services, this is not based on the quality of the providers, but due to the owner's short-sighted policies around their own "customer loyalty" program. When I recently presented my completed loyalty card for the advertised 50 percent discount, I was informed it could only be redeemed with the original provider, who no longer works there. That restriction was not communicated when the card was issued (nor is it printed on the card), and customers have no control over staff turnover. Staff contacted the owner, Kristen, who decided chose not to honor the promotion. While the providers I had, (Nou and Kait) were consummate professionals, the ownership seems to lack focus on customer satisfaction and retention. I happily supported a small business, holding up my side of the equation and expected the owner to do the same. Apparently my loyalty was not a priority and I will take my business elsewhere.
