Solid! We spent 3 weeks in Paris in the springtime and I fell even more in love with crêpes and…read moregalettes while there, so naturally I'm searching for good crêpes at home. Creperie on Ludlow St came up in my search and we happened to be down that way on Sunday. I'm also a huge ice cream and gelato fan, but husband is lactose intolerant so he prefers non-dairy. Last year we discovered the amazing vegan ice cream at Orchard Grocery, but I wanted the real thing this trip and he apparently hadn't wanted a frozen treat at all so wouldn't do Orchard Grocer for himself and a different place for me. Happy medium? Share a good crêpe! We found it at Crêperie. SO many choices, many similar to ones we loved in France. Extensive selection, but it didn't take long to decide on the apple-walnut-caramel crêpe to share, costing not much more than 2 ice creams. We watched the lone young man as he poured batter onto the round griddle to just the perfect thinness; as he expertly flipped it; as he loaded on plenty of apple compote, plenty of walnuts, and gently squeezed caramel sauce. Then he folded it into a neat rectangle, scooped it into an exactly the same size pan, flipped the whole thing over onto another griddle and left it to heat while he made a crêpe for the person behind us. At exactly the right moment (was he watching the clock? or maybe he's just THAT good!), he flipped it over, slid the crêpe onto a plate, artistically drizzled more caramel sauce on top and then gently shook some powdered sugar over it. Handed me 2 forks and knives and we sat on stools at the counter for our Sunday afternoon treat! Excellent! They have several savory crêpes (in Paris, those were usually buckwheat crêpes called galettes) and many sweet ones. Unfortunately it's more of a takeout place, with just the few stools at a counter inside, and a couple of small tables outside. I'm still looking for a genuine Parisian-style restaurant with a good selection of galettes and crêpes - but this was a great find and I definitely recommend it to you!

Picture this: Friday afternoon, after traipsing from Uptown to BedStuy to get a color correction (thank you, Judith Essien!), I take a stroll along Macon and find this gem of a place. The literal definition of shabby chic in the interior, and just warm and cozy the minute you walk in. I am greeted by the most lovely server (Aziz? I tried looking for him later to get his name, but I'm sure he's West African like me). I ordered Crepe 31 (Smoked salmon, spinach, tomatoes, Swiss cheese and bechamel sauce) of the SPICY variety (they will ask you how spicy you want it); listen I was raised to love scotch bonnets, so I wanted this thing spicy and it was the best!!! What a great balance of creamy, spicy and savory! There's a plethora of crepe options, so I will definitely be back to try the other flavors! Also ordered the Bissap (shout out to the diaspora because this is Zobo in Naija, Sobolo in Ghana, and Sorrel in Jamaica) and it was everything!!! The right amount of tartness and spice. I also highly recommend the turmeric smoothie and the raisin croissant (they warmed it so it was lovely)!!!! I'm coming back next week to try their matcha options and more crepes!

Great crepes--I tried the chicken and the crepe itself is so pillowy with a little bit of sweetness that works really well with the savory filling, and the sauce has a lovely citrus note that completes the dish. Some of my favorites have been their Berry Buzz, Gold Coast and Pink Drink smoothies, as well as their Mr. Clean and Cold Buster fresh juices. They don't add in ice, which I do appreciate because you get more juice and bang for your buck!

It was filled with a generous spread of Nutella, chocolate custard, whipped yogurt, and slices of fresh strawberries. Sweet, chocolatey, fruity. We were absolutely amazed by the paper-thin and slightly crispy crepe. ＊Matcha Stripe Chocolate Crepe $13 A combination of strawberries, matcha custard, whipped yogurt, chocolate truffles, finished off with chocolate drizzle and a sprinkle of crushed hazelnuts. Asked if I could use it on just the crepes or on anything including the drinks. Staff was hesitant at first and proceeded to ask her boss. She then replied back that it could be used on any one item from the menu. No room in my stomach for a crepe, so I got a drink instead. Ordered an Iced Fizzy Mango Drink. Paid the difference of $2.12 in total. Forgot to ask for no or less ice. Other ingredients of the drink are mango puree, sweetened mango flavored syrup, Sprite, Yakult, and white pearls as the included toppings. Wished it doesn't come with the white pearls. Would've preferred popping boba or coconut jelly instead. Fast service from friendly staff. Tasted refreshing on a humid day as a goodbye to the summer kind of drink.
